The elevators are not great and often only 2/3 work. I think more transparency would be nice. 2) Showers start to flood within 30-seconds. It's gross and I, again, wish there was some transparency on why this isn't addressed. 3) The lack of outlets. This one is most frustrating as it seems to have the most straightforward solution. No outlets under the table in the library? Come on guys. Get a power strip or something please. Outlets by more seats on the 3rd floor mezzanine and terrace would be game changing! Please

I quite enjoyed my time at he Bellevue for a while that it's done a complete 180 in the last…read moreseveral months. The good: Very big and nice facilities with amazing great variety of equipment. A TON of group fitness classes if you're into that including free reformer Pilates classes (if you can get in.) Issues (that are unacceptable in general or just completely insane to have at the membership price point...these are things you deal with a budget gym or someplace you go for free): Constant elevator issues which cause lines and long wait times during peak hours. And for the last 6+ months they've only had two of three functioning if that. You know it's an issue, fix it for goodness sakes. Good luck if you rely on parking here. The entrance are closed half the time causing you to have to detour for a good ten plus minutes to get in and then exiting you're stuck behind trucks delivering in the alley they've left "open" for you to get out. And yes the validate but they randomly increased the price from $11 to $12 one day. Not a huge deal but why not tell members in advance? It's just sloppy. The sound systems are suboptimal for group classes especially in the HIIT studio. It is a vibe killer for sure. The spa that we were promising was coming soon when we joined in November of 2023 is still nowhere to be found. The locker rooms are adequately maintained but there are so many privacy issues. Often there are signs that there will be men working in the women's locker room. And the phone use is NUTS. People are on video conference calls! How is this allowed?? The cafe hours stink for early birds. If I'm done with my workout before 7am and I want coffee, I'm SOL. It's also insanely expensive. I cannot speak for the food there because I won't eat it after I saw a mouse in the cafe area while I was working from there one day. Treadmills are constantly broken. They added a bunch and now there's somehow less available because they cannot seem to maintain them. Out of service for a day or two is one thing but it goes way longer than that. Good luck and Godspeed accessing an assault bike or a ski erg between 10:15 and 2pm on weekdays. They're fully monopolized by the turf class and the HIIT studio is used for classes including mat Pilates (??) Generally speaking maintenance seems to be an issue. A pedal was hanging off one of the two assault bikes on the main floor this week when I was using it. A tread was sticking a few weeks ago when I started to run on it. I couldn't strap my foot into a rower the other day. It doesn't seem like it would be too much to ask that they keep their eye on this. I do feel like it used to be under control but had fallen off a cliff recently. Too many people here are shooting footage for social media. I cannot complete a workout without being concerned I'm in the background of someone's selfie-video or photo shoot. Hotel guests have full access to the gym. It adds to the insane crowds on the weekend and needs to get in check. Many of the trainers and instructors are great but a handful of trainers that either do personal training or turf classes are flat out RUDE. I was treated disrespectfully and even bullied by one of them while minding my own business just trying to complete my workout. This is embarrassing for the gym and needs to be addressed. Ultimately, I could no longer justify being a paying member with so little care shown by management about the member experience. Perhaps spending less time posting less on social media and more time listening to an addressing member feedback would be helpful.

"Squash girl summer" and "I am only here for the skorts" and "I've never sweat like this" are all…read morewords I've said in the last month as I've enjoyed my incredibly random and spontaneous decision to become a summer member at The Racquet Club. If you see me walking down Spruce St in my squash whites, NO you did not. Anyways, The Racquet Club has been truly amazing. Despite what may come off as stuffy, old money, "white people nonsense" vibes (these were my thoughts upon my first visit), I've actually found the club to be diverse in many ways, accommodating, and (most of all) VERY well run. I have gotten to learn a new sport, meet wonderful new people, and enjoy the amenities of the club for ~$100/month with summer membership. While full membership is not at all in the budget, summer membership allows you to forego food and beverage minimums while still enjoying the many perks of full membership. As someone who works in community building, seeing the lengths the team here goes to ensure all members feel included has really blown me away. Active happy hours, pros who are there to support you, a great newsletter, etc. I love the experience of being bad at something and gradually getting better, so working on my squash game week by week with incremental improvements (REALLY incremental) has been glorious for my mental and physical health. I look forward to taking better advantage of the full club throughout the remainder of my membership.

As someone who's gone to this gym from time to time, there are a few pros & cons that I will list…read moreout in detail to help you better understand as to whether or not this gym is for you! Pros: The gym has a LARGE amount of amenities. There are two basketball courts (which are also used for pickleball), an indoor lap pool with hot tubs, an outdoor swimming area with slides (at an extra charge). There are classes, a ton of different machines for both cardio and lifting, and a really clean and upscale atmosphere. People tend to mind their own business and the staff have on average been helpful, at least in my experience. There is also a kids "daycare" if that's what you call it. A lot of parents will use this so they can have time to work out and actually work. There's a little area right next to the cafe that has tables and outlets. I see a lot of people with MacBooks doing work. They probably work remotely. Who knows. Cons: The price point for this gym is definitely the highest of them all coming in at $220.00 a month per person. IF you are married or you can prove cohabitation, you can add an additional person on your account for around $100 a month. This gym definitely has a crowd that is very gymcentric. This isn't a bad thing. But some people who are looking for a more chill or less intimidating atmosphere may think twice. I was one of these people until I decided to just not care. But that's easier said than done. The gym can be exceptionally crowded at peak hours. So if you plan on going daily I'd do my very best to avoid late afternoons on weekdays and nights on weekends. I was hoping the bathroom situation would be a little better but, there seems to be 2 bathrooms for ladies and men of course (from what I've seen). And with the amount of people there sometimes, it can be a little bit hectic. The locker room is fine and the showers are just average. At the price point of $220.00 I was expecting some futuristic pod shower than also does your taxes but, we all can't have what we want. The outside swimming area is an additional monthly charge, by the way. Conclusion: So take it or leave it. The price point is HIGH, but there are a lot more amenities and options for machines than any other gym out there. Is that justified? I don't really know. So three stars. Until they have a robot that does my taxes, then it might go to 4.

I just happen to live nearby so this is the best resource available. They've got a good range of memberships available. I'm usually staying on the 3-month membership so there's repeated intervals of getting motivated again to make good use of the money I spend. There's three floors here. First floor is mostly the lobby, but also some locker rooms, squash courts, and the pool. Upstairs is the main gym area, including the rooms where classes take place, basketball court, rock wall, and indoor track. If you come over the course of an academic quarter, you'll notice the ebb and flow across time of day and know exactly when midterms and finals seasons are. Suddenly it's a lot easier to get a squat rack for some reason. Things are kept pretty clean for the amount of traffic that comes through, especially student traffic, and the students who frequent are pretty good at re-racking correctly and wiping down benches after use. Membership team here has always been helpful! For some reason, they have limited hours on when you can process membership payments and renewals, but usually it's not a huge issue to get it done. On the whole it's a decent gym for the price. Though I'm no expert, but it's more than enough for me!

The pool set-up in Bala is unique in that it is a therapy pool, it is heated to 90-92 degrees…read more Therefore, only passive types of aquatic exercise should be used. The management of Bala doesn't know what they are doing when it comes to their pools. They are doing Aqua Zumba and swimming in a hot pool, both of which are taboo for health reasons. They have a deep water pool which is also not being used for what reason? The person doing the hiring also knows nothing about aquatics, and she discriminates in hiring. Which is why their aquatics is sub-par. I have offered to teach an Ai Chi class there, which is an international beloved aqua version similar to the goals of Tai Chi. It was invented by a Japanese aquatic therapist, done to New Age music. It is perfectly suited to a warm water pool, but management refuses to even look at it, even though I volunteered to teach a sample class. This kind of ignorance leads me to believe that AFC Bala is closed minded and not considering what is best for their clientele. Members who are coming out of physical therapy would find this class absolutely perfect for their needs, but AFC really doesn't care!

I've played in multiple sports leagues with this organization over several years and they have…read moregradually gotten worse. You'd think it would improve over time but it's just the opposite. The website which houses the league registration links, schedules, standings, etc. is scarcely updated. In the basketball leagues at least, the league will have a posted start date, and an email will go out about the schedule being posted by a certain date. But it rarely is posted when they say it will be. Last season, with cancelations and the way it was scheduled, we literally went 4 weeks in between games. The league is expensive for what you get. Teams don't even get shirts, and the league organizer makes no attempt to ask the teams to pick a color to wear since they aren't provided. This especially causes issues in basketball leagues, and it makes it way too easy for teams to bring ringers aboard late in the season (which always happens). Each team must pay $25 per game for ref fees on top of the league fee. That an extra $200 a season. If you play on a free agent team, you are often stuck paying a good portion of it because you can't enforce that people you don't know bring cash with them. Often, only one ref shows up, which means that he pockets $50 for that game, in which he puts forth a lazy, uninspired effort at officiating. I want that job. $50 an hour! Additionally, we were to start a new basketball league this past Monday at Kendrick Rec Center. I bust my ass to get down there through area rush hour traffic. The person working at the Rec Center acts as though she had no idea we were even supposed to be there. Then...i find out the game was postponed because the other team couldn't make it, although we were never contacted to inform us as such. I'd avoid this organization at this point and use Philly Sports Leagues instead. It has its flaws too, but it's usually a tad better than this. I lived in other major cities and the rec sports offerings are superior in other places than in Philly.
