Gave me more trauma. I still have nightmares about waking up in that place. The staff are completely unqualified and half of them are just as abusive as the other residents. They place is dirty and disgusting. The food would sometimes be spoiled, and the bathrooms were sooo much worse. The shower curtains had mold on them. The staff would bully residents, and would allow some of them to beat on others. For instance, I saw girls be straight up beaten for smelling bad, and a specific staff would go on how her "pussy stank". Would also call them fat, ugly, stupid, annoying, and various other things on a daily basis. Staff would tell terrified, crying residents to go back to their rooms, even when they watched those kids get beat in their own beds. Shoes, books, water, food and other things would be thrown on residents daily and staff would even laugh at it. They would bully kids for self harming and yell at them for suicide attempts. I personally spent all my 1 1/2 years there using my therapy to process the trauma I was receiving from the unit. There was constant violence and horrible conditions. The place should be shut down. This place gave me more problems than I ever had before it, and now I can't even sleep in a room comfortably if someone else is there, also scared someone will attack me in my sleep, and knowing that the staff never once helped me. If you are unlucky enough to get sent to this place, please be careful that the staff like you, or they will let you be hurt, abused and traumatized, and will even do it themselves. Caseworkers and parents, if you love your child even a little bit, don't send them here. Get them real help. Please don't make them go through this. This place should be shut down. read more
