Located not far from Formby beach and the Pinewoods Squirrel Reserve (with a name like that, who'd have thunk it, huh?), the Pinewoods is definitely one of the quieter pubs in Formby.
I only ever really go in there for a bite to eat when nobody can be arsed cooking tea that night and whenever we do go in, it is noticeably full of families, elderly couples and groups of middle-aged men supping pints of mild.
The food there is pretty good for the price, albeit basic, and the prices of drinks are pretty reasonable. However, the atmosphere there is always a bit quiet and subdued - it's the type of place where if you sneeze, everyone turns around and looks at you as if you interrupted something. Still, if you're looking for a place to have a spot of pub lunch or dinner, or you're looking for somewhere to have a (very) quiet pint, then this isn't a bad little pub to stop off in.
