My 92 year old grandmother has been at Pinecrest's rehab facility for 4 weeks to recover from a hip fracture and we couldn't have been more disappointed with her treatment. Shortly after admission to Pinecrest, she was having problems and medications needed to be changed but we were told no physicians were available on the weekend, a direct violation of Medicare rules. Then when our family came from out of town for visits, personnel were unaware of the extent of her injury. We are now in the process of moving my grandmother out of the facility since my father, a retired doctor, came to visit and suspected a DVT. Family had been complaining to personnel for a week about the symptoms but no one cared. Every nurse, therapist and provider ignored the extreme swelling. A physician or assistant was supposed to see patients 2-3 times weekly so her symptoms were either not recognized or ignored by the doctor and NP. She is on the way to the ER now for treatment of her confirmed DVT spanning her entire leg. Don't say my family and I didn't warn you. read more
