We had a foursome and we played the first hole and then it completely torrential downpours came through. We waited 15 minutes to see if the rain was gonna pass, but it was clear that it wasn't. the greens and Fairways were completely flooded out and the course was unplayable. We returned to the pro shop where we were met with a rude employee who refused to be understanding to the situation that we only played one hole and refused to give us a rain check or a voucher. I will never return to this place and I will make sure to tell everyone I know to never come. read more

Here's the problem. The course is so short, it's basically a glorified pitch and putt, which seems to attract the worst golfers on earth to play here. So, each hole is theoretically reachable, and all the sucky golfers double and triple stack each hole waiting for everyone to get off the green of each par 3 and 4. Then, the terrible golfers proceed to dub the ball 50 times on their way to the "reachable" green. It's an excruciatingly slow/bad experience. read more

The only reason there are two stars is because it's my hometown course, so I'm a little biased. I'm 16 with a license already on the way. On multiple occasions I've tried to rent a cart, and almost have. But Pinecrest has to have the dumbest cart rental rule I've ever seen; must be 21 to rent a cart. Sure, rent it to the people who can now legally drink and go wreck the cart like the one that crashed into the swamp years ago. But as a responsible driver, it's pointless to not rent a cart to anyone playing 18 with a license on a 90° day. There are no signs anywhere that say you must be 21, and the pro shop workers have never checked with me before paying, meaning I get the keys, load up the entire cart, get ready to go out, and have him running put of the office saying "hey, someone here is 21, right?". Nope, so now I have to unload the entire cart, go back into the pro shop, get a refund on the cart, and rent a pushcart, and I'm late for my tee time. Now the starter who hates every teen golfer on the course can yell at me, oh yay. And the only reason I didn't bring my pushcart is because I called them beforehand to make sure I could rent a cart, to which the same guy as in the pro shop said "yep!". It's disappointing, too. The restaurant upstairs: 11/10. The best. Flowers: Gorgeous!!!The course: a little swampy, but we deal with it. The cart policy: just dumb. Now that I'm driving, I'll gladly go 25 minutes out of my way to go to a course that will rent me a cart. I suggest a change before all the guys like me getting licenses stop coming here too. read more

It's great for the price. Don't expect Augusta but expect a great value and a fun place to work on your game.

Parking lot near range was full. Plenty in remote lot. Havent played here in about 10 yrs. Short course, balls flying everywhere and way overpriced at 50 for this track. Ran out of carts and was given an attitude by jerkoff cart guy because we had the audacity to take cart to car after round. No signs. No stopping us at the clubhouse as we drove by. Overall it's a short game course and you can find better. Cute beer cart girl so that's a plus. read more

Solid 3.5. Old cow farm converted over to a walkable 18. Lots of water and sand traps. Good for waking 9, 18 take a cart. Nice pro shop and a great restaurant too. Driving range on grass... try to hit the big rock! read more

Courses have two types of rangers. The ones that try to ensure you have a good time, and the ones that think they are running a prison release rec program and they are doing you a huge favor by letting you play at their course. This course is the latter. It's in terrible shape aside from the greens. Although I can never complain about 48 bucks for a round of golf, it's over market value for a 4900 yard course on a weekday. The course itself is filled with long and somewhat challenging par 3s and very short par 4s. Clientele playing here were all the best type of easy going people. Unfortunately for Pinecrest that doesn't earn you an extra star! read more

Lets do a quick recap of this weekend's round at Pinecone: 1) Our tee time was between the hours of 4:30 and 4:50. When did we tee off? 5:05. Why? There were 3 other groups of 4 (all riding carts) backed up in the 1st tee box. Perfect! 2) Before this, we ask the old ranger at the clubhouse for a cart key. He just goes "I'm not the starter.", then just walks away and doesn't help us. Perfect again! Late for our tee time now when the course is already backed up into the street causing heavy traffic! 3) We paid for a total of 18 holes of Golf, 9 of which to ride and the other 9 to walk. How many did we play? 10 (so rode 9, walked 1). Why? Yeah the answer is in #1 for you. When did we finish? Yeah around 7:15-7:30, again we were in carts. Great pace for one of the shortest and poorest of quality courses in the MetroWest! 4) "Carts gotta be in at 7:00 tonight" Ok sounds good, we basically just teed off and 7:00 is in about 20 minutes (this is a slight exaggeration but I'm sure you can pick up what I'm putting down here), but that checks I guess. I played here the other day and carts had to be in at 7:30, but sure we'll bring them in even earlier when each hole on the course is backed up by 17 groups of 4. Never seen a course so out of control. WILL NEVER PLAY AGAIN! Sad because I'm forever a Holliston Panther. Glen Ellen in Millis should've stayed and this course should've been replaced by a Six Flags Amusement Park. read more

This course definitely doesn't deserve all the bad reviews it has gotten. It's not the nicest course, but it is cheap and the grass is decent. Go join a $5000/yr club if you want to play pristine, expensive golf... or play here for $25 and stop whining. Bottom line, if you're a regular person this course is great. I played here recently and came away shaking my head about this golf course. The conditions were in a single word "horrible". The day we played the course was 75% standing water and mud. Ducks were swimming in the middle of the 11th fairway looking for mating territory I do think. The tees looked like they haven't been moved all season and are hacked up. What really irritates me most is absurd number of blind tee shots to fairways you can't see from the tee, and too many trees that block your drives. The maintenance needs to cut back many of the trees and overhanging branches that foul the course. Any errant shots into the woods are certain to be lost in thick briars. There is no chance finding your ball. Absolutely none. The front 9 layout here is a joke and pathetic mish mash of holes of par 3s and short par 4s. The only saving factor is the condition of the greens which are solid and rolled true. The back nine layout was better, but conditions remained poor. I would not return to Pinecrest again.. read more

Just terrible. The worst layout I've ever seen on a golf course (no exaggeration). I wanted to like this place, as it is convenient for me, but I would never play here again, even if it was for free!! Details: No signage, markers, cart paths, starter, drink cart, etc. Horrendous conditions everywhere. Tiny "pro shop" that serves more as a hangout for the girl who works there (who u will find sitting at the table on her phone, as opposed to- you know- actually working). Have fun zig zagging across traffic, dodging cars as u play on both sides of the street (again, due to the absolute worst layout I've ever seen in my entire life). And the real kicker is that they have "regulars" here who think they're members of some elite golf course; they are entitled and bounce around from hole to hole, never playing the holes in order but instead just doing whatever they want. Little do these people know that they are horrible golfers, with horrible etiquette, playing at the worst municipal course in the country. This place simply has no hope. read more

I've been playing this course for about 5-6 years and it's a bit expensive for what you get. Don't get me wrong it is a very nice course, but the price could be down 5-10$. I know it doesn't seem like It, but when you see the parts of the course that clearly lack upkeep...that's when you see the price difference. If they kept a better upkeep and service of the course, it would 100% worth it. read more

The course is very reasonably priced and is a decent quality golf course for the money. If you're looking for a country club level quality this isn't it, but if you're looking to play a causal cheap round of golf with friends then this is your place. The only negative thing I can say was that it was a bit buggy early in the morning, but there isn't much they can do about that. read more

I really enjoy this golf course. I just got into golf and the course is quite cheap (I play for $17 as I am under 18). It is a perfect course to learn on because it is pretty good shape but some of the holes are very challenging. A few of the holes are extremely tight, couple short par 4's and some nice par 3's. Nice driving range and all the staff I have talked to has been great. I come here every week, I love it and don't think the course deserves the hate it is getting. I am just trying to have fun and learn golf for cheap, this place checks those boxes! read more

There's a new teaching pro at Pinecrest this summer named Dave Sullivan. He really helped me get back on track in both increasing distance and making solid contact. Dave is a low handicapper who also played collegiate golf. His father was a famous amateur champ back in the day. He's been around and has a great way of figuring things out quickly. I highly recommend young or old, especially teenagers with high aspirations. read more

New management is unfriendly, especially the owner's girlfriend. Is she capable of smiling? Course needs to be updated. The greens are hard and fast, like they have always been. Many of the Tee boxes are in rough shape. Aside from the solid staff at the 19th green, owners seem to want to do as little as possible in running this course. This course is in tough shape. The front nine is shoehorned into an area that should hold 6 holes. Holes and tee boxes are very close together and you're guaranteed to get a drive hit at you. Like the other review noted, this place is routinely water logged. Lastly, the staff is typical muni: generally indifferent to your business, and sometimes arrogant and seemingly put off that your there to play a round. There are better choices. Update: Perhaps I was a bit harsh. There are some good things, front nine notwithstanding. Love that the driving range is grass and fairly well-priced. Greens fees at $32 during the weekend prime time is cheap compared to other surrounding public courses. Lastly, the food at Pinecrest's 19th Hole is pretty good. The deck is a great place to grab a beer after a round. Glen Ellen CC is a major step up and is only a few miles from Pinecrest. It is more expensive however. read more

Had a coupon from last year due to being rained out just as we started. The lady at the pro shop stated she couldn't honor it. No explanation - just no. Comments from other reviewers regarding poor customer service are spot on. No need to ever golf here. Course is nothing special, and the staff is grumpy and un-professional. read more

I have golfed at this course several times when I have no where else to go and have to play alone. It's 18 holes, and not maintained well. Tight compact layout. Very wet at times. Greens are ok, rough is long, fairways are ok. They have a restaurant and driving range. I haven't used either. It is under new management. My reason for writing this is my bad experience there yesterday. I paid for 18 holes and a cart. The young man in the club house after I asked why there was a note that the course was opened on the day before mentioned that they had aerated the greens on the back side. I didn't pay too much attention to it because I have played on a ton of courses where the greens were aerated and besides the greens being bumpy, sandy, and slow, there was no problem. Well starting at the first hole and for the three holes that I played, the greens were unplayable (aerated and the plugs were left on their surface. So I hit to the green and moved on. On the third hole, the greens keeper was performing the aeration. Because he was actively working on it, I played my second shot to the trap in front and well to the left of where he was. When I went to recover my ball, he was angry because I hit the ball in his direction, and wanted to know why. I have never been treated like this before. There are always workers on golf courses, doing lot's of different things. They stop what they are doing, let you hit, watch where the ball is going in case it heads for them, then go about there business. Needless to say I returned to the club house, and got a refund. The young man was apologetic, and I hope he passed the word on the management and to other players (about the greens). read more

The low rating is not related to the condition of the golf course which is right in line with what you would expect from a golf course with rates as low as this. The low marks are for 1) customer service and 2) pace of play. 1) With the exception of the cart girl I have yet to run into a pleasant employee of this golf course. The starter is unhelpful and unbelievably rude. He automatically assumed we were trying to play the back nine without paying and told us to get off the course, only to be proved wrong when we showed our receipts. Woman at the front desk seems generally annoyed with helping you get your receipt to go play (waited 10 minutes while she talked on the phone). Generally everyone seems uninterested in helping or providing a modicum of customer service. 2) They have absolutely no clue how to pace groups on this course. Last time I played I was on the back nine and when we got to the 12th hole there were 3 groups waiting on the tee...I know it's cheap, and they have to get volume out there, but that is completely absurd. I recommend NOT booking online and calling to see if they have any leagues going out when you want to play. If they do...don't bother because its a nightmare. read more

Course is horrible! Does not seem to be maintained well and the design is a bit mind-boggling... Have to cross a busy street twice.. This place is WAY overpriced and the staff are VERY RUDE - from the pro shop to the waitstaff. Will never go again and will be telling all we know to STAY AWAY. read more

I have been playing Pinecrest for years. The new management company has done some good things - cleared out some brush making some very tight fairways a little more forgiving. Greens are usually in good shape. I do wish they would add yardage markers. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is great for an after round cocktail. My main issue is the lack of order on the course. There is no starter and although a ranger is patrolling around from time to time it is total chaos on most weekend afternoons. The front 9 gets incredibly backed up because two of the first four holes are par 3s. The back 9 is usually better. In addition, the "regulars" act like they own the place and can be total jerks. They will skip holes, jump in front of you, and even play 3-4 balls while playing by themselves. Case in point - we had a group of 4 ride right by us on the 10th green and start their round on hole 11. They had not even finished teeing off and we were made to wait behind them. After an exchange of words, they turtled and started on hole 10. Stuff like that should not happen but it happens consistently with "regulars" at Pinecrest. They act like they are members of Augusta National but are really just hacking at a public, municipal golf course. read more

Pinecrest is under new management. And rates have gone up! Junior rates for 9 holes went from $16 to $19. My boys went there this morning. We checked the website and rates before they left and they were still quoted at $16. We tried calling but no one answered the phone. When the boys arrived a woman charged them $23! When the boys told her that the website stated $16, she told them that there was a new website now and the old one hadn't been taken down. And she charged them Holiday rates! Today happens to be Good Friday but Good Friday is not a Federal Holiday. No other area golf club was enforcing holiday rates today. My boys and their friends have been playing Pinecrest for years. This is no way to secure customers. And this course needs an extensive amount of work, too. It is not worth paying the high prices. Don't waste your money here, folks. Take your business elsewhere! read more
