I wasn't sure what to expect from this place. It's in a town in the middle of nowhere and the accommodations are in a subdivided house. But, I have to say that this place was exceptional, comfortable, and a highlight of our very long trip across the country. The owner was friendly and helpful, and went out of her way to give good service. The room was cozy and welcoming. The jacuzzi tub was a welcome treat after a long week of hiking. I would definitely stay here again. I only wish we had a chance to try out the "bakery" part of this place. I'm sure her home baked products would have added to our time in the area.

A few months ago I was sitting in a swivel cushioned office chair while in a training course about how to clear up old content on my department's website. I came across a small image on a random page that seemed out of place and underneath it was titled "Cathedral Gorge". The towering shadows of the sandstone rock formation piqued my curiosity. "Where is Cathedral Gorge?" I silently asked myself as I took to Google. Panaca Nevada. A small sleepy town tucked two hours north of the insomnia city of Las Vegas. A town where you felt as if you were in a Country Time Lemonade commercial. It was Friday evening. The sun prepared for its goodnight, trees gently sways in the rays as summer time activities drew to a close. We drove to a near standstill, cruising through the settled streets, children without electronics walked side by side as they waved to us, drivers tipped their dusted brimmed hats, quite the change of pace from the busy streets of southern California. As we pulled up to the Bed and Breakfast of Pine Tree Inn, I felt at home instantly, though I had never lived anywhere like here before. We were greeted by Carol with a warm hello as she led us through the doorway. I admit, after a seven hour drive, I was ready to welcome any place to rest and Pine Tree Inn was perfect. The remanence of a home cooked meal just hours before danced across my nose as she invited us to sit in the living room to conduct our checking in. Three bright-eyed kids already having taken occupancy in the couch, I took residence on a high back chair as we settled our bill. The children were part of a family that took residency in the room above. I was taking residency in a room below. Once we completed our transaction, she handed me a key, gave me a code for the front door during afterhours and showed us to our room. Given it was located in the basement, it was a nicely finished one and had two windows: one on the west wall and one on the north. The room was nicely decorated with shades of a gentle dark blue and white. The bed was a welcomed comfort and the air conditioner worked amazingly well, it was also quiet and had the sound of a gentle wind opposed to a motor sound. we stayed two nights, as we wanted to have a full day of exploring the slot canyons of Cathedral Gorge. The breakfasts were not large, but for us, they were of the perfect size and Carol allowed for us to utilize an outlet and a fridge as I had cooked pulled pork in a crock pot for our dinner to simmer during our excursions. Should you ever consider visiting Panaca Nevada, I highly recommend staying at Pine Tree Inn. Nothing felt closer to home.

The cabin!

If you are within 100 miles of Panaca, NV drive the xtra distance to stay here. Panaca is not much of a town, general store and gas station is about it but this place is amazing. We stayed in the cabin and it has been our favorite place on a 10 day road trip. We are so happy we decided to stop early before Zion and explore Cathedral Gorge. The Gorge is amazing and Pine Tree was amazing. Breakfast was great, the cabin is clean, comfortable. We will be back on our way to Grand Canyon in two years!
