Urgh, playgrounds like this are hard to rate. They are really pretty but don't have much substance…read more Can I call it a has-potential ground? I usually would have given a playground with this equipment a two star rating but the area itself could be engaging and entertaining for children. Not only is there space for kicking a ball, but the equipment area is on a hill, with lots of trees and some large boulders which could insight all sorts of fun imaginative play for the older children. Toddlers could find this play area quite tricky seeing as it's on a steep hill. Another charming feature of this playground is the tree swing. I'm not quite sure if it was place there by a resident of the area or the City Council but it's quite a nice touch. The playground flooring is a mixture of bark chip and rubber matting. *Dogs allowed* *No drinking fountain* *Table and chairs under the shade of trees

This is another reason why I like to review playgrounds....you find little gems you never knew…read moreabout! Ideally, I'd like to give this three and a half stars, and with a little TLC it could even make it to four stars. This playground is fully fenced with a decent sized playground, swings and a not-really-close-to-a-half-court. I'm sure there's a better way of explaining that the area for basketball is small, but the real 'yippee' moment is that it also has a netball ring! All together now....YIPPEE!!! The playground itself gets a little dappled shade from the gum trees. I have a feeling this playground might be getting used by people who don't really appreciate it and with a little care and love (Awwww!) this could become even better. Don't even bother trying the drink fountain. The hole where the button is supposed to be is just filled up with cobwebs....strong, sticky cobwebs, you can take my word on that! *shiver* Both of the streets at the either end of the park are quiet suburban streets and parking could be an issue if one of the locals was having a party and their visitors used up all the street spaces. This park would be good for a variety of ages groups. Take a ball and practice shooting some hoops or getting some netty goals. *No dogs allowed* *No drink fountain* *No shelter/shaded area*

It is pretty convenient in that it is just across the road from the beach, and there are facilities here that one can use to change, or wash down. Yeah, it's a pretty nice, and quite handly, place to spend some time.

It was good though, just not what I thought it would be. It is however an Access For All playground so there's a ramp for those children in wheel chairs. This is a park designed for toddlers. And don't worry parents, the entire play area is rubber flooring so if they fall, they bounce lol. I really liked that the toilets are close by but wish there was more (or anything!) in the way of shade. There's a BBQ and a sheltered table/chair area just in front of the toilets. There's also plenty of room for running around on some pretty lush grass. I apologise for there being only one photo. The playground was too busy and I didn't want to intrude. *Dogs allowed, but leashed* *Drinking fountain* *BBQ* *Sheltered table/chair area* *Electronic toilets*

I love your work City of Unley!! *Dogs allowed in dog park, not in playground* *Drinking fountain in dog park*

I was a regular here with my kids for several years when we were living at Frewville, giving my wife a chance to study and giving the girls a run around in the fresh air, and we got a huge surprise when we returned not so long ago, just before Christmas, and found the fantastic renovations that had been done. McLeary Park always was a nice, safe, shady playground, with a quite elaborate climbing frame, almost a fort on stilts with a slide and netting to climb, and the spirit of that structure has been maintained with the more modern equipment in place now. There is still plentiful shade from the trees however the additional shade cloth is brilliant - I notice Unley and Burnside councils have made significant upgrades to a number of parks with shade and newer equipment. So, yet again, my kids had a ball here - three years older now, but just as enraptured. The only downside here is that there's no public convenience, so we had to pack up and head off to the nearby KFC for toilets. Other than that, beautiful place for a family picnic.

The Jack Watckins Reserve on Churchill Road is really easy to miss. It's entrance is nestled between the railway yard (used mainly for storing the pylons for wind-farm windmills) and some light industry, but once you enter the car park you see rolling hills (Julie Andrews starts singing), a picturesque gum tree lined path, play equipment, circuit training equipment and even a bbq area! The area is perfect for a family picnic, with plenty to keep the junior kiddiwinkles entertained plus a basketball half court for the older sporties and plenty of room for a dob of the pigskin should the testosterone levels reach an appropriate level! Although the park has many fun options for all, it also has a serious side being dedicated to those who lost their lives due to Asbestos diseases as a result of working on the old Islington Railway line. There are many stories and writings located in the park and along the pathway that are definately worth the time to read. Even if you don't take the clan for a bbq day there, it is worth the time to swing by and see some of what Adelaide has hidden if you look hard enough. P.S. The Park is open until 8:00pm during daylight savings.

It gets a lot of visual attention from people driving by so you've probably seen it in your travels. There is a relatively new car park down Evans Ave but there's still parking down Norman Walk also. A small agility playground has been set up near the Evans Ave car park. There are also swings here and the rest of the play equipment is just a short hop, skip and a jump across the bridge. The playground in the main area is entirely rubber floored and is a cute place for toddlers to hang out. Toilets are close at hand and so is a sheltered table/chair area. At the time I was here, there were about 8 men in Parks and Wildlife uniforms on and I didn't feel like asking them to smile so unfortunately there's no specific photo of that area. You may be able to see it in the background of other photos though. There's also a rotunda available but it's purely shelter, no seating or tables (BYO!). The lawn area is great and many amateur cricket game has been played here. *Dogs allowed (on leash)* *Sheltered table/chair* *Rotunda* *BBQ* *Toilets*

It's a diverse park in terms of structure, shape and options which should make it accessible to pretty much anyone. We used to come here to play on the playsets, later to have a kick, to go for runs along Brownhill Creek, smoke clandestine cigarettes, and then later still have picnics and chill out with friends. It's hard to call it an actual reserve considering it's mostly just a big space of lawn spotted with benches, play equipment and a rotunda with a creek running through it. Yet, it's a nice place to relax in the shade of a massive gum, and super easy to access.

Secondly, this was more of a three and a half star playground in my books but I can't rate it as a three, it feels wrong :-) For a small area, they have actually done a good job of adding equipment for a few age groups, the only issue I have is that there aren't steps for the littler ones to climb up to the slide. There's a table/chair area to the right of the playground. I couldn't take a photos as there was a family enjoying some morning tea. Got to love a playground that gets used to it's full capacity. Unfortunately I didn't see a drinking fountain, but I'm sure that there had to be one somewhere. Surely even the Mitcham City Council would put in a drinking fountain or at least a tap for the awesome, fenced dog park that's also here. *Dogs allowed* *Table/chair*

It has tunnels (for the dogs to run through), poles (for the dogs to weave through) and finally it has jumps. This park is fully enclosed with high fences and a double gate. If it is raining there are shelters with benches under neath and a concrete floor. The enclosed park is a 24/7 off leash dog park but the rest of the reserve requires the dogs to be on-leash most of the time. for more info on where dogs can and can't be of-leash I suggest checking the website. if you scroll down on the website you will see where you can and can't have your dog off-leash. While it isn't the biggest playground, they certainly have designed it with a wide range of age groups in mind. There's a mix of rubber ground and bark chip ground with toilets right in the middle of the skating area and the playground area. I spoke to a local who said the skate park is great (I've been out of the skating scene for too long to know hehehe). There were a couple of broken street lights in the car park but he assured me that the park gets maintained and looked after well, and he was surprised to see the damage himself. Pack your family up, put the bikes in the car and head over here. It would be a lovely Sunday outing. This is definitely one to check out. It's such a pretty place and while there's more construction happening at the moment (looks like an extension to the playground) this really is a happy blend of playground and nature with plaques along the way with information about the wildlife in that area. *I didn't see a drink fountain or BBQ* *Dogs allowed...under effective control of course* *Stay tuned to this post, I want to check the tracks out more myself! :-) See you there!*

It has exercise equipment, large skate park, hiking trails, fenced dog park and playground with toilets. Whilst I mainly visited for the playground with friends, I was disappointed that it does not cater for crawlers or children under 2 very well. Some of the equipment was too high/difficult for them to climb and they spent the majority of the time on the rubber ground. There was also no toddler swing, so if your kids like swings as much as mine then it's not the place to go. That being said it s well kept and tidy, but probably suited more to 3/4yo and up.
