If the book you want isn't there, you can always look in the database online and request it; they email you when it arrives! It is easy to spend hours in here as there are comfy chairs and huge windows that open up to (what I assume is) Whiting Forest in the back. During autumn, it is very picturesque. For a chat you can go to the cafeteria-looking area but if you need silence there is thankfully a quiet room. And of course thank glob for free wifi. Checking out is very fast since all you have to do is put the books on the pad and scan your library card. You can even save paper and stay organized by having the receipt emailed to you. No more losing receipts and forgetting due dates! If you can't figure it out, the staff will be happy to help you without making you feel like a doofus. You can also put a hold on a book from another cooperating library in the area, which they will send here for a small fee of $0.25. The only thing I can complain about is their slim graphic novel section and the prices of renting DVDs. Older movies are $1.25 each and you can keep them for a week, but newer movies are $2.50 and you can only have them for four days. Although the selection was good you may be better off at Family Video, honestly. However, if I do find a library with a lot of graphic novels and free DVD rental, it is unexpected and a really nice surprise.

I stopped in, spoke to the librarian and obtained a card. I asked him how to get to a desk that was upstairs and he told me. He also told me that there is another area that I could go to if I wanted a more quit area to work from, and I told him I was ok. But boy oh boy. It was really loud. Phones ringing and people talking on the phone in there. I honestly thought that I was being punked. I will go to another location next time.

Beautiful inside and out, this library makes it easy for your imagination to soar. The staff was so gracious. They are probably used to visitors being amazed by the library. This library isn't known for being quiet by any means so I guess that's why the staff member figured it was acceptable to have a prolonged conversation. Since I was sitting right next to his friends and there really wasn't any effort to keep the tone to a low level I heard rather surprising and disturbing news about the Bay City Michigan Library. One of the visitors was telling the staff member about the large amount of paperwork his does at his job. The library staff member said they do a lot of paperwork at the library also, his friends found this amusing and asked how paperwork can be overwhelming at a library. The staff member went on to tell his friends that the police are called in 8-9 each week to the library and this creates an enormous amount of paperwork. I'm not sure if the staff member was just trying to one up his friends but even if he exaggerated the numbers by double this was very concerning to hear. The staff member didn't go into any detail about the incidents at the library so I'm not sure what the severity of the events were. I just wanted to visitors aware that you might need to be cautious when visiting the Alice & Jack Wirt Library in Bay City, MI.

The first $2 of printing is free each day, and no library card or ID is required (since the room is 18+, they might check ID if you look under 18). Every single person I spoke with there was polite, welcoming, friendly, and helpful, which is often but not always my experience at other libraries. It's a small library, but they have a nice fiction department and tons of DVDs and CDs. The selection of non-fiction isn't as good, but it's getting better. I used to come here a lot when I lived in the area. Now, I stop in from time to time if I'm in Clio. The staff is very helpful when it comes to looking up ancestry information online through Ancestry.com. They're open five days a week. The library could use a few updates, that's all. They have free WiFi and lots of computers for those needing access. If you have kids, they offer children's programs throughout the year, like live animals, story hour and magic shows.

This small town library, is lovely. It is in a circular building, right next to the Au Gres River…read more Close to the campground, and the rest of the community. I recommend a visit here. There are computers to use, audio books, ebooks, as well as good old fashioned Book Books! Anything they don't have, they can get for you in a couple days. And there are educational programs (usually for youth) all during the summer.
