As the self-professed International Ambassador for 7Eleven stores worldwide, I'm always interested…read morein checking out the competition (nota bene: I don't actually work for or have any financial interest in the 7Eleven corporation, franchises, or any of its affiliates; my title is strictly for entertainment purposes only and no bailment is created, caveat emptor, implied warranty of merchantability may or may not apply, consult your physician if you experience any adverse symptoms, not a paid spokesperson, not an attorney, and not that kind of doctor, etc. etc.) Now then, this particularl Pic Quik is a clean little store just off the I-10, and really close to our Hampton Inn hotel (see my other review... they have a great water slide and your kids will love it, if its open; otherwise, I suggest you do everything you can to ensure your kids don't find out about it, or it's all they'll talk about all the way to White Sands NP). Inexpensive gasoline, and relatively few "hard luck story" panhandlers during my brief stop; again, my experience of expensive fuel and expensive bums is SoCal related, so your comparison may vary. I thought for a minute while I was there: "Hey, it's 8 AM, it's 38°F outside, I'm on vacation... I'm getting a breakfast burrito!" But my wife, who can read minds (especially mine) knocked on the window of my truck while I was gassing up and mouthed "NO!" But if you wanted a burrito, or you know, if your wife isn't psychic, there's a little joint inside that makes burritos, and they smelled pretty good when I went in to get some waters for our long road trip that lay ahead. As roadside gas station convenience stores, go, this place was pretty good. And the restroom inside was clean and stocked, so it's already better than 90% of similarly targeted businesses in Arizona and California east of Hemet. I'll probably stop in here again on my next big roadtrip on the 10. And if my wife isn't with me, I'm totally getting that burrito.

Today my mother went in at around 9:30 -10:00 am all she did was ask for napkins and it seemed to be a bother to one of the younger employees working at the register. The employee wore glasses and had blonde hair .She had an attitude when my mom asked her why she couldn't just hand her the napkins and resulted in the employee calling my mom a Bitch as she walked out . My mom walked back in and asked her what she said and she repeated herself and said BITCH. My mom than asked for the owners number in which the owner called the cops on my mom.All for some NAPKINS! Being that they are privately owned the cops said that my mom was no longer allowed at that location. Which is totally fine being that the owner is so unprofessional about the whole situation. Instead of asking the CUSTOMER what happen and not punishing the employer for speaking to loyal PAYING CUSTOMERS the way that she did. Guess this is what customer service is these days ! Do not recommend this place at all.

We found it about three years ago on our way to California. We've stopped here every time travel to Arizona or California. You will find about 20 different types of burritos. All are pre-made and ready to go. Don't let the pre-made part stop you, these are the best burritos you will find (sorry mom). You will find the best selection early in the morning. There are 4 tables to sit, but this is not a true restaurant.

Bowlin's Old West Trading Post ended up being one of the most memorable stops of our entire road…read moretrip from Texas back to California. Me, my mom, my husband, and my service dog Huey decided we wanted to stop in every state and grab a souvenir, and this was officially our first stop in New Mexico. I honestly could not have picked a better place. The second we walked in, we were greeted by Tim, and he immediately won Huey over by giving him some super crunchy dog treats. Not just little boring treats either -- GOOD treats . Huey became his new best friend instantly and would not leave poor Tim alone after that. It honestly made the whole experience feel so warm and welcoming right away. The store itself was AMAZING. Everywhere you looked there was something cool to see. So many little souvenirs, fun knick knacks, gifts, collectibles, old western items, random treasures -- the kind of place where you think you've seen everything and then turn a corner and find even more stuff. My husband had an absolute BALL walking around the store looking at everything. I especially loved all the tiny little trinkets and scattered treasures tucked throughout the shop. What was funny is the place was almost empty when we first walked in, and then somehow we looked up a little later and suddenly it was packed with people. Even with it getting busy though, it still felt fun and relaxed instead of stressful. The bathrooms were also surprisingly clean, which honestly deserves recognition during a long road trip . One of the funniest moments happened outside the store. A little girl picked up a rodent trap because she saw a lizard run into it and carried the whole thing inside wanting her "Pa" to help get the lizard out. Everybody immediately started yelling for her to take it back outside, and the entire store burst into laughter. It felt like one of those random little road trip moments you end up remembering forever. After spending what felt like half a lifetime trying to get out of Texas (seriously, it took us almost 12 hours ), this ended up being the perfect stop to stretch our legs, laugh a little, shop around, and enjoy ourselves without feeling rushed. We even found some gifts for my in-laws, which made the stop even more worthwhile. If you're driving through New Mexico and want a fun, welcoming place packed with personality, souvenirs, gifts, and genuinely kind people, Bowlin's Old West Trading Post is absolutely worth stopping at. Huge thank you to Tim for being so kind to both us and Huey and helping make our first New Mexico stop such a memorable one.
