I am very happy that we found Pilina Vet. Although it is a longer drive to Kailua, it is absolutely worth it. Boba's previous veterinarian was located in town (I will not mention the name). Unfortunately, from the nurses to the doctor, the experience was not very pleasant. As Boba is my first pet, I naturally have many questions. I often felt that the doctor and nurses became irritated when I asked them, and they were not very helpful. A colleague recommended Pilina Vet, and from our very first visit, I was impressed with Dr. Sara (perhaps more so than Boba ). It was wonderful to see a doctor take the time to get down to my dog's level, thoroughly examine him, and genuinely get to know him. After trying other vets we finally found one our boy was not scared of and had finally figured out what his health problem was (Cushing Disease) and see him return to the active guy he was years earlier. It was wonderful to take our boy to the vet and see him wagging his tail as he walked in the door instead of shaking from fear. Dr. Sara and her crew are very knowledgeable and caring. From the first visit with Dr Sara I knew I was in the right place. I had to make a change when my dog's condition wasn't getting better at another clinic. I came to her for a 2nd opinion and I never looked back. She went over everything with me and talked me through all my questions comments and concerns and my dog thrived. She left no stones unturned. Almost a year after my 5* review of 6/2/23. I still give Pilina 5 stars. We bring our 7 cats here as well as 2 of our dogs, and daughter brings her cat here too. Dr. Sara and all the friendly staff are great. We are looking forward to the move to Enchanted Lake Shopping Center as the parking lot will be a lot easier than current. It's not terrible parking, we have always found a space, it is just challenging to get out, very hard to see cars coming. The thin walls in the current location also don't offer much acoustic privacy both for pets and human conversation, hopefully the new place has real examination rooms. Pilina offers a variety of monthly plans that work somewhat like insurance that are worth considering. Highly recommend Pilina! read more

I don't normally leave reviews but my experience here was absolutely amazing and they deserve the recognition. they treated my fur babies with the best care. I was struggling to get my German Shepherd spayed and got turned away else where because of her anxiety, but I called them and was seen the same day for a evaluation, they even squeezed the surgery in a few days later so it would be done in the timely manner that I needed. I wanna especially recognize Kailee, she was amazing super understanding and helped out so much! she made our overall experience extremely memorable. being said I would definitely recommend, the owner is someone cares about your fur babies!! read more

Their online booking system allowed me to make an appointment in the middle of the night for a next day appointment, which provided an amazing level of mental relief. The care l received from Dr. Sara far exceeded any attention experienced from other vet clinics on island. Our previous vet was having some staffing issues and we were struggling to get an appointment so after calling around to different vets in the area over a few weeks time and asking for referrals from friends we were excited to get a same-day appointment with Pilina Vet (next to the Shack on Keolu). The office is clean and welcoming and calm. Our 9 year old goldendoodle is pretty freaked out about going to the vet and our previous vet was doing handoffs in the parking lot which didn't help his anxiety. It was so nice to be back in a vet waiting room (never thought I'd say that!) chatting with other pet owners for a few mins before getting an updated weight and going back to a waiting room. Because of the timing and our urgency to get an appointment, I brought my 3 year old and 6 year old along with me and was a little concerned about handling it all but our dog was very chill and loved the vet tech checking us in (Joleen) instantly. Since this was our first visit and I wasn't able to get his records she was great at building back up his record based on emails and receipts I had brought and we figured out what he was due for pretty quickly. I explained some additional concerned and then she went to prep the vaccines. Dr Sara came in and was great with our dog and the two kids. She patiently checked our dog out and I showed her some of the concerning areas, she gave her recommendation on next steps and we landed on a plan. Then Joleen came back with the vaccines and together they administered them while we my kids asked our dog if they hurt him but clearly he was fine and just wanted treats. Absolutely thrilled to have found a vet that is a great fit for my pup & myself. Dr. Sara & her staff are so helpful & accommodating to the frustrations that seem to crop up when going to other clinics. They obtained prior records without requiring me to deal with that. The appointments are easy to get & we did not have to wait when we got there. You can go inside the clinic with your pet instead of handing them over. The surgery estimate was what was expected even though additional issues cropped up between. Mostly I feel like my dog's care is driven by our particular needs. Too many times I doubted the necessity of certain recommendations which leads to a feeling of distrust. Like advocating for my own healthcare, I want to have that same role for my pet. Everyone was very nice and professional. I loved the gentle and sweet way they treated my fragile little chihuahua with her chiropractor adjustment and doctor exam before that. Everyone was just beautiful energy. One thing I want to mention is I took a pretty hard fall omw in from the parking lot.
