I was very excited to see the sale signs when I walked into Pike's. I really enjoy shopping here because I try to support local first. While some of the plants and materials could be a little more, I trust that there has to be a trade off when you are getting quality. I purchased a few succulents and low light indoor plants but I forgot to get the bird seed which is something they carry along with lots of bird supplies. Guess it will have to be another trip soon. The service is also very supportive and you don't feel as if you have to track down someone who works there to assist you with a question. I walked in to return an annual that I just purchased perfect for full sun and this young lady just told me they would not receive it back because it was an annual and didn't get enough water. I watered it when I got it home and it rained on it. They didn't water it before I purchased it. I'm not very pleased by this experience. As soon I got this thing home it withered. Let the buyer beware. I've had great experiences with Pike in the past and have spent thousands with them. I'm starting to question their practices. read more

We have been long term customers of pike and bought a number of fruit trees from this location. We try to avoid large stores like home depot, lowes, etc. We bought apple, peach, pear, plum and pomegranate. We have had these trees for about 10 years. Apple was the only one that fruited for a single year. Nothing beyond that. Pears were not edible. The quality of trees is significantly worse than even the large chain stores like home depot, lowes, etc. These trees occupied prime, sunlit space in my backyard and this year I have removed all of them. My friend who paid half the price from home depot is enjoying good harvest. read more

I try to stop by different Pikes to see what they've got in stock, and I usually end up taking at least two or three new plants home with me. This location might be my new favorite. This is a great location of Pikes! I went to find some new flowers for my lawn, and was not disappointed. They have so many flowers, and if you drive around back you will see they have tons of greenhouses where they grow their plants. They also have a wide selection of outdoor furniture. My only complaint is that the employees are sassy, and got on to my kids several times throughout the visit because they were standing by a fan. read more

I've visited this location before and during the pandemic. Compared to the other Pike locations I frequent (Johnsons Ferry Rd, Suwannee, both Alpharetta locations), this one generally lacks customer service standards. Most of the time I am left alone which is fine by me but my most recent visit made it clear where I need to be taking my business. There was only one woman working the floor assisting a couple of customers so I looked around as I waited to ask a question. It's an open space so I could see and hear that she was being very friendly and helpful as she could be to these customers. When they left and I approached her, the demeanor flipped entirely to what I can only describe as hostile. I asked if she had X product in stock and immediately was told a stern, "No." I asked if there was anything I could possibly substitute and I was coldly told, "NO" and scowled at until I left. ( Just for comparison, I went to the Holcomb Bridge location a couple weeks later asking about the same product and they said its not what they typically carry but had plenty of products that could be used to substitute in stock. ) I am an Asian-American and the other patrons being helped before me were not. With all the hostility directed towards Asians in this country especially during this pandemic I felt unwelcome and left empty handed. Even if not racially motivated there is no excuse for such unkind demeanor. It's worth driving a bit further to the Johnson's Ferry location nearby where I have experienced kindness towards all. For what its worth the store was taking covid safety precautions with masks and sanitizer but that's the bare minimum these days. read more

The staff here is knowledgeable and kind. I am an experienced gardener and I find that I can usually get my questions answered here. They carry some unusual varieties of plants and they don't douse their plants in chemicals like Home Depot does. read more

Quarantine has turned me into a house plant green thumb. Having to be stuck inside - I've now started to beautify my space with plants. They are taking proper precautions during this time. Limiting the amount of people (but it's a big space so I've never had to wait), there's a person at the door that greets you and tells you to make sure to follow the arrows. This person will also wipe down baskets, carts when you leave. They are NO CASH or CHECK currently and also NO PIN for credit card purchases. They have a glass between you and the cashier. This location is bigger than the buckhead one, and has better parking - but I will say that they didn't have as many options when it came to the succulents and cactus. At the buckhead one you'll find trays and trays of similar types to pick from. I love that Pike Nurseries keeps everything near each other so in the cactus/ succulent area you'll find the proper soil and food for the plants without having to search the store. I would say that the house plant selection has more variety than Home Depot. This morning the cashier clearly had no time for me and wanted me gone as quick as possible. There was no hi how are you or have a great day even though I said both to her. And before I had grabbed my things she was asking the next customer for their membership phone number without a hello, how are you or anything. Of course, I won't let this deter me as I love the plants at Pike Nursery. Spent 45 dollars on a big bag of soil and 8 plants which I think is a good deal. read more

I went in to buy my plants from a Pike's landscape design that I had done last year. I thought I was going in to order the plants but Samuel was able to provide all but 2 of the plants listed. The last 2 were tracked down in TN and shipped to the store. I was amazed! The staff was picking out the healthiest plants and loaded them all onto carts for me. Staff was very knowledgeable and nice. I highly recommend this store!! I could not have gotten any better customer service anywhere else! read more

They LIE to you! Two times we have bought Christmas trees Large trees over $100 2 times they have stated that there is a fresh cut on the Christmas tree. Only to take the tree home and it never absorbs any water and sheds needles and dies. A Christmas tree with a fresh cut will absorb as much as a gallon of water the first day. read more

This location of Pike's Nursery seems to be larger than most in the area, and consequently has a larger selection. I frequently come here, even though it is a further drive for me than other Pike's Nurseries. I have noticed, though, that they do not always have staff around to assist with questions. On a recent visit, I didn't have one staff member ask me if I needed assistance with anything. I was recently at the Johnson Ferry location, where the staff was quite helpful and visible. One good thing about this location that I always take advantage of is the sale they have on bulbs every November. I come in the week of Thanksgiving and prices are 70% off. That's a real food discount, and November is not too late for planting bulbs. One thing I don't like is that they clear out a lot of their inventory in November and replace it with cut Christmas trees. November is still a good month for planting in Atlanta, and it's when I like to do most of my planting, so I wish they would keep the inventory around longer. If you come, though, in prime planting season, you should have a good choice of trees, shrubs, and flowers for your yard. read more

RACIAL PROFILING IS ILLEGAL!! Pike Nursery Mr.Charles Lampkin & Associates sold us a plant. We had the plant for close to 2-3 weeks. I discovered after bringing the plant home a white cotton-like substance. Not being a horticulturalist. I never thought Pike Nursery would/ could sale defected plant. WOW was I wrong! The white mossy substance continued to grow w/in the base of the plant extending to the stem of the plant. If you moved the leaves you could see it good. Conclusion: Went back to store after speaking w management and told to bring plant back. Once I walked through doors they discovered I am a BLACKMAN the friendly over the phone gestures was immediately relinquished! I was asked for a reciept, day of purchase, am I part of some club, who did I speak to, where did I buy the plant. The same employee I took plant to identified the plant by telling me it her plant it came from that store!!!! I could tell them exactly the area the plant came from. The plant could have been no more than $20-25.00 I did not ask for money back. Simply an even exchange..... The Manager.....A Manager by the name of Charles Lampkin told me a BOLD FACE LIE. His employee threw the plant in the garbage. Rightfully so!!! The Manager and staff got the plant out of the garbage can and gave me 2 oprions. 1) take my plant 2) Leave the store I'm have 3 Degrees and as well Morehouse College ALUMNI... Graduated at the top of my class! Now this is going to go 1of2 ways. No THREAT A PROMISE AS well my word.......Dealing w an Educated Blackman my issue is if myself or a young black boy was accused of vandalism, stealing, any facet of breaking the law. That same prejudice Manager and employees would have kindly given the police department access to cameras and any/all evidence to assist in a guilty plea. Why can't that professionalism and courtesy be extended to me regardless of the color of my skin?!?! Now my Grandfather ALWAYS taught me there is more than 1 way to skin a cat!!!!! You don't give me options!! Im an Educated tax paying citizen!!!! President Monte Enright have less than 24hrs to solve this from One President-2-Another. Yes I do have pictures of my plant in garbage, out of garbage back on counter, the white cotton substance inside of flower. I don't normally write these kinds of things but I just want to take a minute to recognize the PIKE employees here who were very kind and helpful to me and my somewhat unique needs. I called (several times) from out of town and needed some assistance from 3000 miles away in dealing with an elderly family member. I could not believe how patient and giving they were to me and my family. I cannot praise them enough for their help. And a big thanks in particular to the manager there, Charles, for his kind words. We went to Pike as they advertised Fraser 7ft trees for $39.99. The tag on the tree said $49.99, but figured they would discount the tree to sale price of $39.99. Cashier said, no my tree was not part of that price. That the $39.99 tree's "old, low-end, budget trees". This is totally misleading and will never go back to Pike. End up paying $53...normally go to Home Depot for my bigger tree, and a better price. The place seemed under managed with high school help. read more

Run, don't walk, away from this Pike's store. Completely unprofessional and totally indifferent to customers. I bought 2 cherry trees there, at $150 each, and had Pike's plant them; and one of them died. I went back 3 times--over the span of 2 months--to ask for a replacement. Each time Bob, or Fred, or whoever (fictional names) said they would call to arrange replacement (which is their guarantee of course.) Response: zilch, not a one ever called. I finally called corporate and was connected to the CEO Mike Kunce, which I appreciated. He picked up. He was very nice, apologized, and said all the right things. The very next day, of course, I get a call from the store (same guy who had said he'd call but never did) and they came out the following day to plant a substitute tree. The kicker: It was the lousiest, weakest, sickest looking tree I had ever seen. It was pathetic. They were obviously sending me a message: "don't call our boss on us." I called Mr. Kunce later to complain and he said they'd replace the tree. They never did. Silence.....nothing. This store is staffed with indifferent personnel--from my experience--and a CEO that gave them a pass. Very disappointing. You're better off with the big box guys who take customer satisfaction at least somewhat seriously. At this store, based on my experience, they could give a flip. Rick W. read more
