    This is as sweet as it gets! Candy store after candy store…read moreline Av 6 Oriente. There are dozens of tiny candy shops all up and down this street. It's really hard to believe that there are so many that they have a candy street here, but there's apparently demand for it! They sell all kinds of wonderful sweets here- so many of them make me jittery from all the sugar! Mexican sweets tend to be sweeter than what Americans are used to. They're packed with tons of sugar! I felt like a kid in a candy store! Personally, my favorite are the ones made from caramel and wafers of goat milk crackers. Other favorites include the jellied fruit candies, and coconut candies. I went looking for chocolate covered grasshoppers, but nobody had 'em. Most of the candies were by the kilo, but some had them sold individually, and none of the stores seemed to mind selling a few pieces for a small handful of pesos. The clerks were all friendly, but they didn't give out samples. This is the place to go for souvenirs and sweet tooths alike.

I thought there would only be a handful, but the whole street on both sides had only candy shops. We got a sugar cookie at one of them and then at another we got a small box of camotes (flavored sweet potato bars, a specialty of Puebla) to take home.
