This tiny candy store on Street of Sweets is the sweetest!
Dulceria La Imerpail is the emperor of candy around here. It's old- a retro style of candy shop where you can't really walk in. As soon as you enter, you're met with a giant glass case stocked with a large variety of candies. This is a shop to taste out lots of little things, as they make way for variety and don't have much inventory of each- a great tactic, because who wants all of one flavor of candy? Variety is the spice of life.
The candies are decadently sweet. Much sweeter than us Americans are used to. I got some caramel rolled in nuts that was off the charts sweet. Everything here is cheap, only a few pesos for the most expensive of candies.
The clerk is happy to sell individually wrapped candies, and do the math on the transaction, instead of trying to sell just by the kilo.
It's funny that this place looks almost identical to the place next door. read more
