I love taking my son here for his haircuts. He's 7 years old, and he's on the spectrum. He was initially a bit nervous when we first started coming. Having stuff happen with his head and hair was a big trigger for him as well as loud noises. He has sensory issues with the falling hair clippings touching him as well. We usually see Tiff, but regardless of who does his cuts, they all do their best to make him comfortable. Tiff is always patient and kind, and you can tell she genuinely wants to make sure my son is at ease. I wish the cost was a little lower, especially since my sons hair grows out so quickly. It's not exactly cheap. But we always come away with a quality cut. There are also lots of toys for kiddos to play with while you wait for your appointment. There are fun vehicle seats like an airplane and a fire truck for the smaller kids and nice boosters in bigger seats for kids, my sons age. There are TVs at each seat and in the play room that always have fun kid movies playing. They even have a couple of Nintendo switches for those kiddos that need a little extra distraction. Also.. I swear the stylists were ninjas in another life. I have no clue how they keep up with those little moving heads during the cutting process! I just love these guys. read more

I'm surprised that this store has a 3 star rating. I brought my 22mon old son in July 2024 and Tiffany cut his hair. She was amazing. So quick and fun and he looked so handsome! In August 2024 we went back and Susanne (?) cut his hair and again, so quick, kind and patient. I never typically leave reviews, but I'm extremely disappointed at our experience at this place. I made an appointment for my daughter to get her first haircut and the "princess package" which included a princess hairstyle, and tiara and glitter spray. I was so excited to surprise her. Upon arriving for our appointment, we were made to wait 40 minutes, which really wasn't an issue at that point. However, when she was finally seated, I asked for a simple trim and whatever kind of princess style the associate wanted to do. This woman was extremely cold and unfriendly. I'm still confused why she is employed at a place for children. My child has beautiful, long hair, and a ton of it. I didn't notice at the time, but the associate chopped off chunks of hair, and it's now horribly uneven and choppy. I honestly could have done a better job myself. She then styled it into a crooked braid sticking straight out like Pippi longstocking, and it was falling apart before we even left. She seemed irritated at even being there. I will definitely not be returning, and I'll now be looking for a salon to fix my daughter's horrible haircut. If the stylist was friendly, I wouldn't be so upset by this whole experience. read more

We asked for a "little boys haircut" just as we've done previously. They had the notes from prior visits showing to use a 3 guard and taper it down in the back. THIS was the final product. It was as if she didn't know where to stop trimming behind the ears and nothing was tapered down in the back. Ended up being closer to a mullet than a crew cut. Change the name from Pigtails and Crewcuts to Blowouts and Mullets. He looks like a member of Flock of Seagulls. read more

We came here for my sons first haircut and the gal did an amazing job. He screamed the whole time and she was a SAINT! The 2nd time he did much better but the haircut was mediocre. We asked for a hard part and longer on the top and take it down the sides. Nothing special. The hard part was basically not there and the rest was just an average Joe haircut. The 3rd time was a few days ago... my husband took my son and came back with... this. Not even sure what happened here. Is this a Mohawk? Is this a triangle? Is one side off? Am I seeing things! I just am not sure what this is. He also has a hard part. I'm not sure how to style this. I think it started to grow into a "rat tail" already... do I feed this?! The haircut my son received was absolutely atrocious. There were lines, patches, sections of hair along the neckline completely missed, and he was pretty much given micro-bangs. Thank god Tif stepped in when she did because she at least saved us time and tried to salvage the experience for us- she was lovely and clearly good at her craft, Erin chose the wrong line of work. On top of the shameful haircut my son walked out with, Erin was awkward and to me seemed inappropriate. She had absolutely zero social cues and kept trying to crack jokes while my husband and I were obviously concerned about the work she was doing. At one point while the two stylists were working on my son's hair, she said "I'm sure he doesn't mind all the attention from the ladies, hehe." Ma'am. He's two. We unfortunately had to take him to my husband's barber the next day to fix the mess she had created. I would never, not in a million years, allow either of my children to have their haircut at this establishment again. I would be absolutely embarrassed as the owner to have this be who is representing my brand and business practices. -10/10 definitely wouldn't recommend. read more

My daughter is 6 and I took her for her very first haircut ever. The lady spent a lot of time untangling her hair so I understand her frustration. She spent a total of 7 minutes cutting my daughters long hair short and giving her bangs. It was the worst haircut I've ever seen and it was $50! If she didn't have time to do a cut, she should have told me, and we would have rescheduled. I wrote the owner, sending him pictures asking for a refund and her refused. He even accused me of cutting my daughters hair to try and fix it myself. He offered a free haircut to make up for it and I replied that my hairstylist was fixing it. He replied "well maybe that's what your daughter needs. Go ahead and take her to get a $90 salon cut and maybe that is what works best for her." The actual audacity of this man was unbelievable. My stylist who has been a friend of my for 17 years fixed it for free. I will never go back and give them another "chance" after the downgrading conversation with this man. read more

After scrambling for a birthday party for my 6 yo, I came across pigtails and crew cuts and their birthday package and scramble no more- I spoke to Kaelin who got me set up for eight girls, a private room, braids for all and nail polish! When I got there, I realized they also had a craft for each child, and a goodie bag to take home. All this for an AWESOME price!! I was incredibly impressed and my girls had an amazing time- Kaelin and Sami were great!! I will 100% be back here for haircuts and recommend them for parties! Support local!! read more

Due to COVID, they weren't doing appointments, you just had to check in online and go. We got there and let us know that someone would come outside to get us and it would be about 10 mins. Adults and children of certain ages are required to wear masks. My son was not because of his age. Very thankful for these rules! We were outside for 10 mins, walked around with my 12 month old in his stroller. Someone came out and got us. This was my son's first haircut at a salon and after being quarantined, hes not used to being in strange places. The place is very cute. The chairs are different types of vehicles. My son was placed in a fire truck chair that was in its own room. Oh he screamed and cried so much at first. Then it was just screaming! The stylist was awesome though! She was fast and was very mindful of my son. The screaming didn't get to her at all. Very professional! I showed a few photos at the beginning of what I wanted it to look like and it's spot on. Will be back for future cuts! Hopefully without the screaming. read more

I took both my boys 3 and 5 here and both of them have bad cuts. I could understand if they were fighting or fidgety but they weren't. It looks like the stylist put 3 separate bowls on their heads and cut around it. I won't be back. read more

My 2 year old son hasn't had a professional hair cut, he's only had his haircut by my husband. This was a very new experience to him and he was a little scared at first. Our stylist was super patient and kind and did whatever she could to make him comfortable. She did a great job on my son's hair and she made sure we were happy with it. I am shocked that I have to leave this review...we have come here for almost a year, even left a great review but after what happened this morning we will never come here again and we will steer people away if we can. We had an appt at 10:45, we were running 5 mins late so we called and they said ok....got there 6 mins after our appointment time and were told they wouldn't cut his hair. It's a strict 5 min late policy......well life happens and just like this place we run on baby/toddler time. I am a bit surprised about the irony...when we show up on time for our appts we are never seen at that time sometimes 10 mins after because they run on toddler time (meaning sometimes a child doesn't corporate and they give them a breather) That's fine, it's kids! but dang we run 6 mins behind, with a warranted phone call and drive all the way there from castle rock and BOOM GET TURNED AWAY! The little lady behind the counter wouldn't even talk to us, just shut us down. That's ok because as luck has it we found a MUCH BETTER PLACE! Take ur toddlers to "Hair Genius" and ask for Kayln....it's in the next row of shops right by Pigtails and Crewcuts. Cleaner and better service! read more

Such a bummer to have to write this review. We were 10 minutes late to our appointment and notified them over the phone that we were running a couple of minutes behind, they said that was fine. They turned us away upon arrival instead of just telling us on the phone that they wouldn't see us so we didn't have to waste our time continuing to drive there. There needs to be some level of understanding when you are a service provided to babies, toddlers, and kids who sometimes have last-minute diaper changes or tantrums that prevent perfectly timed appointment attendance. read more

Jackie has cut my kids' hair twice now and she is phenomenal. She fixed my daughter's hair after my son cut it (‍) and have my son the best haircuts he's ever had. He has fine, blonde hair with a difficult cowlick and I can't believe how great his hair turns out with her. (Seriously, he has gotten the worst haircuts ever at other places - Jackie is GREAT.)! That said, they are walk-in only, which is fine.... on the surface. But they don't do a great job updating the waiting list. More than once I've thought I was next and they've called up random kids before me. Further, I called ahead once to get my name on the wait list and no one bothered answering the phone. And I called three separate times that day. I understand that the stylists get busy, but they really need someone on the administrative end to handle these issues. read more

Pros: Little to no wait, efficient, and my toddler liked the toys. Friendly staff Cons: paid $25 for a crooked unblended haircut. I honestly could have done a better job on it. I requested the stylist cut his bangs as short as possible because my son hates getting his hair cut, will have to go get in cut in the next two weeks. They wouldn't let me son get a hair cut because he wouldn't put on a mask. He was already cranky and we even tried to get him to put on a mask and he wasn't having it. Instead of trying to help us out and compromise a solution they just said sorry and told us to leave. He is 3 I get what the "rule" is but again he is 3! the lady said it was the "rule" since may when they reopened, 3 months ago we got his hair cut and they were perfectly fine with him sitting in the room to get his hair cut without a mask. Why the sudden change? Very two-faced and really used to like this place for my child. Now we will find a new place and you will no longer get my business. This place is HECTIC. They sell knicknacks that are all placed within kid's reach & makes for many unpleasant "no"s in a place that's already difficult for some kids. This salon is also severely understaffed. We regularly wait an hour to be seen and with other kids screaming about their haircuts, that just sucks for myself and for my kids. read more

Was very happy to see there is an option for checking in online as wait times in the shop have been very long before. However this check in system is frustrating. I checked in and was told 15 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes later to be told that I had to wait an additional 20 minutes because stylists were on break. We have been here twice in an attempt to get my sons first hair cut. The first time I went in and they said the wait would be over an hour and they won't let you make an appointment. We decided the one hour wait was too much for our one year old who was creeping up on nap time. We went back to try again today after we called and were told there was a 15 minute wait. We showed up 10 minutes later and there was a 45 minute wait. We decided to wait it out and let him play in the toy room. 25 minutes into our wait we checked with the desk because there still hadn't been any progress for anyone waiting. They told us that the wait was going to be longer than expected because there were little girls in front of us and their hair takes longer. Totally understandable but they were the same kids that were in the chair as when we got there. So why not tell us a more accurate wait time. They told us they could call us when they were ready for us because it was going to be a while. We decided to just go down the road to Hair Junkyz, we got there and were seen in less than 5 minutes, got a great haircut for less than Pigtails and Crewcuts, and we were getting in the car to head home by the time Pigtails and Crewcuts called back to say they were about ready for us. I won't try to come here again until they are willing to let me make an appointment. read more
