Nothing says Nostalgia like the Piggly Wiggly. So grateful there is still one operating here in Myrtle Beach. It's got a good plethora of snacks and food if you're staying here for more than a week & don't want to go out for every meal. Had to pick up peach soda & moon pies for the kiddos, plus a long sleeve Piggly Wiggly Tee to remind me of where I used to shop growing up. Love the signs throughout the store. The staff are humble and kind. This is an old school market in the middle of tourist land. I hope this place remains open for generations to come. I didn't get any pics here but we were in Myrtle Beach for a few days during Spring Break and we needed some groceries for the hotel. Great location but could be a little cleaner! It's cool to see Piggly Wiggly is still around. This is a small old store , but it's clean and well organized. It's in a convenient location for those folks renting a condo or hotel room on the beach to pick up snacks and other items they may need or want while on vacation. We lucked up and found this Piggly Wiggly whilst walking around to find adult beverage stores. This was definitely a joy for me as I hadn't seen one in a long time...and I was able to score the snacks and non-alcoholic drinks that I wanted for our room. All of the workers were friendly and we all found everything that we were hoping to get. Definitely, get your grocery goods here if you're staying nearby. read more

Literally came here for the name, where else are you going to find a store named Piggly Wiggly?! Kudos to the owner for the genius marketing. We only came in to get some deli meat so we could make sandwiches for the week of our vacation. Although they had everything we needed, they are SUPER overpriced. 1 package of lunch meat was $5, and a package of cheese was $5. Looking around the store, other things I commonly get (mac and cheese, hamburger helper, condiments, etc...) were literally two dollars more than what I usually pay for them. Luckily for us, we brought a lot of groceries already, just needed cold items. They also have a little souvenir section, filled with koozies, t-shirts, and of course for COVID, a pig mask! Had an encounter today with a cashier about the change I was given. I told her that I received the wrong change. Since, I go in there everyday, I advised that at the end of shift, her register will be 20 dollars over, due to her not paying attention to what she was doing. Then she started getting loud and rude about our engagement. It's really not about the money, it was the customer service. I know these days people don't care about customer service, but this was ridiculous. I will go in there one more time tommorow to see what the outcome was and that's the last time I will go in there. Who in the LIVING HELL gives Piggly Wiggly anything less than five stars? Seriously. People, Piggly Wiggly was the FIRST supermarket in the history of the US, it's about as huge an icon as the damn American flag for Christ's sake. Some things about this particular location. 1. It's old, this place has been here since I was about 4, and it's still the same, that's awesome. It's selection is pretty much the essentials you'd need. 2. Yes, the selection isn't huge, but there's a reason for that. It's close to the beach, and it's built on an older model of their stores. If you want to buy a blender, go elsewhere, they have the essentials here for your beach trip, pretty obvious. 3. You want to know why the prices are a little higher? BECAUSE IT'S FAMILY OWNED. They put most of their profits back into their workers, so the next time you complain realize that money you "save" at Food Lion is actually going into a corporation. People wonder why this country is falling apart and cry about not buying American. WELL HERE'S YOUR FREAKING CHANCE. Duh. 4. THE PIG. How can you not like the pig!!!? Quick spot for last minute staples, right near the beach, not too much of a traffic nightmare to utilize - eggs, bacon, bread, milk, yogurt and butter for tomorrow's bacon toasties and I was on my way with a smile still on my face! Not the place for 'fancy' but covers the basics conveniently if you're staying on N. Ocean. Was there around 7 pm - posted hours end earlier than I'd have expected, so take note... I may have to stop back to seek out the Pig-Wig merch seen here on Yelp (I didn't see in store, but I was fairly laser-focused on my breakfast supply mission of mercy before I headed in after an 11 hour drive). There are actually Piggly Wiggly locations in quite a few places, though. We were staying for a few nights, and needed some staples & stuff to nosh on while we were in town. My hubby HAD to come in here. Being a native to NC he had spent his childhood coming here & I was glad we could repeat the tradition with our kid. PW is one of or the first grocery chain. I don't remember but this store is like walking into a time warp into the past. It's small, and cramped but grab a basket or bring a bag & you will be fine. It's family owned so expect to pay a bit more. All the people who complain about the prices can go give more corporations who take huge tax cuts their hard earned money. I would rather shop local & give to real people any day. The staff was really friendly, and after chatting with one I could tell they enjoyed working their. We also HAD to get TShirts. My husband would come here as a child, and he was never allowed to get a shirt or any PW merch. I don't know if it was the nostalgia or the pig butt on the back but he was a happy camper. If this store had the option too give it 0 stars I would !! These people treat me like a criminal !! I am 7 months pregnant. I came in for my aunt. She is very sick and also has no car nor could she drive anyways because she has terrible health issues. I run her errands for her and take her too her appts. and anywhere that she needs too go. I also go too the store for her. Well usually is Kroger or Bilo that she sends me too however on 03/28/2017 she sent me to the piggly wiggly on 1700 N kings hwy myrtle beach pig #3...I arrived at approx 2:23pm. I had 2 transactions one being for her groceries and the other being for her alcohol. I pulled out the card she gave me too use for the drinks and told them I had the pin number for it. The cashier was a man with dark hair and approx 5'11 tall...average weight...he told me that I cannot use somebody elses credit card even tho I had the pin number and wanted too run it as debit. He was very rude too me very very rude and treated me like a criminal !! He called the manager over, the manager was a black lady about 5'4 in height thats just a guess...she states that as long as I have the pin number I can pay for it as debit. So he rang it up and I slide my card. It did not prompt me too enter my pin number well apparently it went as credit which was not my fault I told them debit. The cashier the manager all looked at me funny and the cashier called me a liar. They treated me like a criminal. I was appalled. I pointed out that I was treated unfairly and felt offended and instead of apologizing they simply stared at me with a horrible look on their face. I have never been treated like this in my life. I have been working in customer service since I was 14 years of age and I would never treat my coustmers like this !! I really hope something is done about this ive spread the word on social media and too various friends verbally and will continue too do so. I hope this is fixed so I can tell everyone something was done. I called the store today and spoke to somebody and I submitted my complaint on pig.net. read more
