I am a little delayed posting a few review of this outstanding law firm…read more I was being sued by an ex I divorced over 10 years ago. The ex wanted a piece of the pie so to speak. Long story short, ex and I absolved the marriage and I was given the two homes we owned that were financially upside down. I was told I would have to refi to remove his name within 90 days. Note: This was during the mortgage crisis timeframe so I knew the mortgage companies would work with me to refi or help remove his name. Unbeknownst to me and the court, my ex had stopped paying the mortgage on one of the houses and failed to reveal he ruined our credit. Instead of paying the mortgage for the rental as he had been doing, he stopped paying the bill and kept the rental money for himself. He then tried to sue me after 90 days because I couldn't refi-my credit was ruined by him and the mortgage companies needed time to work with me to remove his name. The courts appointed a trustee to sell one of the houses-which would cost us even more. Finally, short of my ex feeling the virtual hammer to head thoughts I had, he finally understood how much debt we would owe and agreed to remove the trustee. Fast forward many years, I pay off 150k on a second mortgage, 15k in a joint personal loan, claimed tax penalties for the rental, obtained a mortgage mod for 200k loan forgiveness and I kept up with maintenance and repairs to both properties. Then my ex refused to sign off on the mortgage mod so he could be removed from the deed and mortgage. Suddenly the modification was ending, property values began increasing and I was finally able to refinance. Instead my ex hit me with contempt charged because he wants his share. The ex claimed he was told he had a rock solid case. I then hire a local attorney in Prince Frederick that advised me, it will be hard but we will try to work out a deal with the ex. I offered to help the ex pay for his tax audit (note to ex: never cheat on your taxes) but I refused to give him anything else for his personal tax situation! In despair over possibly owing my ex money or him forcing a sale, I finally called a friends sister who is a local attorney. She told me my case wasn't her specialty but she recommended Jay Erly. I quickly met with Jay and he asked Lisa Pryor to represent me--we won my case hands down! My counter contempt spelled out clearly and concisely the hell my ex had been trying to put me through. It also demanded that if I was forced to sell, my ex would have to pay me Crawford Credits for every dime I paid for the properties including termite, electrical, cable, repairs, maintenance, etc. Basically, he would owe me four times the amount of money he was seeking from me (lol). Always keep your receipts (I had a huge filing drawer full of receipts.) If you know in your heart of hearts you are right, find a good firm that works with you and proves you are right. I highly recommend this firm!

Marina is a fearless and fearsome attorney…read more We navigated an extremely difficult case that lasted over 3 years against the most infamously stacked court systems in the country: the DC Federal District. As an attorney she stood by while I suffered withering public attacks against my character, going above and beyond our original contract in defending me not just in the legal courtroom but in the courtroom of public opinion as well. Even when my own resolve was flagging, Marina NEVER LET UP! She defended me with more ferocity than I would've defended myself! One of the greatest traits of her work is that she keeps the prosecution on the back foot. She doesn't wait for them to respond to her motions, but has the response to their response ready to go as soon as those federal prosecutors put down their pumpkin spice lattes long enough to show up to work. That's right, while the feds are busy laying about in an attempt to drag things on and drain your resources, she's WORKING. And as soon as they respond, BOOM! She's already countered their arguments. Talk about courtroom drama. She had them so backed in a corner, half of the DC DoJ flooded the court in an attempt to provide support to our prosecutors. An army of US Attorneys against just her and they knew they were losing. It was inspiring to see. But it's not just her legal knowledge and keen sense of tactics that give her such an advantage. It was what the Japanese refer to as Kokoro, or heart. Marina's valuable work ethic is the result of throwing her heart into the case. And that's not something you can say for most attorneys. Believe me, I used to work for an AmLaw 80 Corporate Law firm. I know attorneys. At the end of the day, the fees were beyond reasonable. In fact, I feel like I owe her far more than what I paid out. Hire Marina and you get more than an attorney. You get a decent, dedicated, and daunting human being. Highly recommend!

An excellent attorney who truly fights for her clients…read more As an attorney, I can honestly say that I have no hesitation sending Marina work. I know she will fight as hard as she can - tooth and nail - for clients. I have had good results with joint clients, and I am confident that no case is too complex for her to handle. Picking an attorney is about being comfortable and confident with your choice. I would recommend anyone looking for criminal representation to consider meeting with Marina to discuss their case - see for yourself that she is competent, hard-working, and savvy about the law. Bottom line - No one will fight harder than she will.
