I used Scott to handle my divorce in 2016. My ex was very difficult and the negotiations for a…read moresettlement were drawn out, through no fault on our side. Scott helped me hold strong and ultimately agree to a settlement that was fair to both sides yet was more than acceptable to me. Not only did he offer great legal advice and prevent me from just giving in to get it done, but he also helped me on the personal and emotional side of the ordeal and kept me strong until a settlement was reached. I found Scott to be extremely knowledgeable and experienced. When the ex came back looking for more (the first time,) he dismissed her demands and she went away. Now that she has come back (the second time,) he is helping me fight back hard and put an end to this nonsense. The fact that she has come back twice is a good indication that Scott's original counsel prevented the other side from getting their way. I am not sure about the earlier review, but Scott has always been very responsive and has returned my phone calls promptly. He would even fit me in between his court appearances. Scott was my second attorney during this divorce. The first one "nickeled and dimed" me for every minute but never truly answered my questions. Scott has been more than fair in terms of his fees and did not charge me to read every text or answer every call. He always provided answers to my questions and would elaborate and expand upon them and offer additional strategies. I would highly recommend Scott if you find yourself in the financial battle of your life.

He…read moredid the heavy lifting through multiple court hearings and helped me to get the best possible outcome despite a very difficult starting point. Scott is not only very knowledgeable but also enjoys an excellent reputation at the Wake County family court, which is important. While other lawyers might camouflage their weakness in court by acting as very expensive therapists, Scott is focused on the facts of your case and makes sure you will get the best possible outcome. James, his paralegal, is very caring, helpful and seems to have unlimited patience. Trusting a person is hard, especially in the emotional turmoil that comes with a divorce. I learned to trust Scott and follow his lead and never regretted it standing next to him when the judge announced the ruling. Scott has passion and a very good heart. He always will be my hero.

I hired him to represent me against the HOA and Board. We never met. He charged me over 3k to…read morehave hearted listen, and write a letter at the 11th hour before my hearing and before he went on vacation. He said the delay was because he didn't have certain necessary information to begin but I had provided all pertinent information at my intake. If there were questions, he could have called me. He told me that he may not use all of the money in trust but he did and there was a small balance of less than $100 but he said that he'd forgive that. I did the leg work. I drove around taking pictures as he requested. He complained that he had to spend a day to decipher the addresses that went with the pictures and how long with. He told me to be less combative with the HOA and to not post anymore reviews but I wasn't combative, but afraid of the ridiculous harassment, false violations assigned, liens and fines threatened against me for placing two small traffic cones in my drive to stop turn around traffic and illegal parking. They wanted to impose a $100 per day fine and a lien on my home if I did not remove them in retaliation for the reviews. They claim that the cones violated a rule in the covenant but there's no such ordinance. There are ordinances about unkempt properties, uncut grass, mildew on houses, downed fences, trash cans on the sides of the house, parking on the grass, parking on the street, abandoned cars, inoperable cars without tags, and toys left on the yard. I pride myself on keeping a beautiful home inside and out. I am not guilty of any of the violations covered under the ordinances or the NC State Laws for HOA. They had a problem with me because I posted pictures and reviews on Yelp and other sites sharing the way the HOA was running the subdivision. I sought his help because what they were doing and attempting to do is illegal. My exposing this isn't combative. The letter was effective because the BOARD and HOA abruptly stopped the hearing due "to needing more time to gather evidence." It has since been closed. I'm sure the letter helped but I was afraid to call or question anything including the closure of the case even though he said that he'd check in November, because I didn't want to incur more costs. I've only heard from him when he mistakenly was sent a notice about the HOA annual meeting and he contacted me about it. The HOA and Board said that they couldn't talk to me directly during the matter and would only talk to the attorney. They sent all correspondence to him including the meeting reminder. I quickly inquired with the HOA. They explained that there was only space for one address and they used his suite address to his office and no longer my physical address. His address has been removed. I sent Bob the email from the HOA's explanation so that I wasn't charged for anymore correspondence and to let him know that it was an honest mistake. I am taking a chance posting this review but it is my honest, personal experience.

We did an excellent job on his floors. He was able to pick out a few things that he didn't like and wanted us to fix before the last $1200 payment was made. There was a slightly overlapped piece of shoe molding at one joint and the rear staircase had a few grits. All of this could be fixed in a couple of hours. He would not return my calls for nearly 3 months so I went to his law office on six forks rd. He said he was too busy to have me over and would call me when he was ready. He held me off to the point where I could no longer put a lien on his property for nonpayment. I personally would not trust him to handle any legal matters.
