I ran out of medication and didn't have a psychiatrist, so I searched the internet and called numerous doctors searching for appointments. That was when I was able to do a video meeting with Dr. Rasul. Now, let me state, this isn't the kind of Psychiatrist you want to send children or individuals inexperienced with the psychiatry community. For me, this is a relatively quick and necessary step to getting the medicine I've been on for 5+ years. However, there are better psychiatrists out there for people currently struggling needing more support. I do like Dr. Rasul. read more

Do yourself a huge favor and don't see this doctor. I did not feel heard or cared for in the slightest.

Incompetent practice, dishonest about their services. I came to this practice with a specific request for a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation required for an intrathecal pain pump to help manage chronic pain for my spinal cord injury, and was told in advance they could do it. At our appointment, the doctor was completely unaware of the purpose of my visit, then told me they do not do those kind of evaluations, and wasted time trying to mansplain how to find a doctor who could do it. Then he rudely cut me off in trying to discuss the trauma that led to my injury and the anxiety and PTSD I have experienced ever since. A complete waste of time. read more

Unfortunately this office doesn't have communication nor customer service skills at all. I found the company on Psychologytoday.com with the filters to take my insurance and my Los Angeles location. I emailed the office and made an appointment. The day of my appointment I downloaded the virtual platform for my appointment and was ready for my appointment but received a message saying that I missed my appointment. This was very confusing because I was early for my appointment. The office scheduled me on a different time zone without letting me know. They then suggested a new appointment but because of the time difference didn't work. I let them know that it wouldn't work and they still sent me a message asking if I'm ready for an appointment that day... NO LOGIC or acknowledgment of their mistakes!! read more

Was looking for a new doc, so I went to their website. It's years out of date, clicking on "our team" gives a 404 error page. Lots of clip art. Can't even tell if they're still in business. Obviously they don't care about patient interaction if their website is to bad. read more

The app used is an absolute mess, the doctor never even told me their name, kept interrupting me, did nothing for diagnosis, wanted to put me on a medication I listed as an allergy, was wrapping up the call after 12 minutes, and I ending up telling him I ws uncomfortable and didn't want another appointment read more

Absolutely the worst medical services experience of my life. If you have the foresight to check here prior to committing to their service, run for the hills like everyone here attests. While the actual providers are decent, the online scheduling and inevitable necessary recourse is unbearable. I was ready to quit before my first consult. I wish I had. read more

One of the only good things is they offer video conference for office visits which is convenient for people who live in two states, and this is the only reason I've stayed with them. However, if you ever need to talk to your doctor between visits, it's not going to happen. You won't even have the doctor's direct number. Everything goes through the office, and good luck talking to an actual person (all email communication is signed Clinical Coordinator (no name). My medication was sent to the wrong pharmacy, and instead of trying resolve the problem they just kept repeating "the medication was already sent to the pharmacy." It took me a while to figure out what happened to my medication; I was out of medication and they would not help me. If you are someone with even bigger problems, it's a scary situation trying to get them to help you. read more

I had a really horrible experience with Dr. Ijaz Rasul today. He insisted on a diagnosis which does not fit me after less than five minutes of conversation, had very little interest in anything I had to say, and tried to force multiple (five!!) medications on me, including SSRIs, when that is not at all what I am looking for, nor what I need. He made me feel so disempowered, and was extremely aggressive. When I asked for an explanation of this diagnosis he was dead-set on, his response was, "I don't have to justify my diagnosis to you." I should've felt heard and understood by this doctor. Instead the appointment, which only lasted ten minutes, ended in tears. He is clearly a pill-pusher who has no regard for anyone looking for real help. Run far away from this doctor and this company. read more

These people are terrible. They don't answer calls or return them. All they want it do is refer you back to their website. Which is no good because they never respond to any sort of requests These people are horrible which is sad for a mental health provider office. Now we are stuck looking for someone else. We never even met the doctor but dealt with his assistant . I did like him. I hope he leaves there because he very good. read more

If I could give a zero it would still be too high for this Dr He has no compassion and is impossible to get hold of. His call center is remote and they speak no English. PLEASE if you can find an alternative Dr - do it read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. They have been charging my card without going through my insurance therefore I am paying about triple what I should because my deductible has been reached. Many times where they "forget" to refill my prescriptions, even though I have to meet virtually for every appointment and it has taken me 8-9 days to get in touch with anyone to call in my prescription. Worst customer service and I see a different doctor without warning at random times. Would not recommend at all. read more

I recently moved to Durham, and wanted to establish care for a condition that I have been diagnosed with for years. After 2 weeks of visits, and other tests I was told that the doctor that I never even met with doesn't believe in the condition I've been diagnosed with. If you don't believe in it fine, but don't waste 2 weeks of my time and cause me to run out of medication. It's completely astounding that a psychiatrist would stigmatize mental health issues. read more

Dr Rasul is good to work with but the rest of the practice is a disaster. There's very little chance of actually reaching anyone in the office staff. I just got a notice from them today that they've been billing me wrong for the past 3 years and now need me to make up for their errors. I need therapy just from having to deal with their office. read more

They don't prescribe meds, they take hostages. They are unresponsive. Avoidant. Cold. Send you to call centers. Pushy. In it for the profits. Here, you are pressured to make appointments, rather obviously. But the refill request process is abysmal. They use avoidant communication techniques--putting you off with promises they do not deliver on. An assistant from India will answer the phone and alternately pressure you to make a new appointment, and tell you the doctor will take care of it--at some point. If you call and get the recording, you fall into a black hole of unresponsiveness."Please open our website and go to form, and click on medication refill request." But when you do, the form is lost in the system. No one responds to you. This has happened to me three times. Right now I'm in NYC, and my medication (which Aetna mail-order pharmacy effed up, denying it for a reason only the Mad Hatter would understand...) IS NOT AT THE PHARMACY AGAIN. I sent the form 5 days ago, double-checked, called to make sure they had received it, and MADE SURE AETNA PRE-APROVED IT. It is now a week later, I've taken my last Pristiq, and I'm left hanging. Again. The staff will pressure you to make an appointment every time you call for any reason, even if you already have one set up. They will tell you that they cannot refill your medication, if it has been more than 30 days since your last appointment (which is ridiculous if you have a 60 or 90 day prescription on your meds.) Listen, Dr. Rasul, is amiable enough, but it just doesn't make up for the experience. This psychiatric practice is all about making appointments and managing medication. I've been taking meds for 15 years, so I'm fine with that. I don't need a lot of hand-holding. I know all about my medications--side effects, dangers, how it works on my brain, what to look out for, how to gauge dosages--and I'm not afraid to stop or start something if it doesn't work for me. BUT SOMEONE NEW TO PSYCHIATRIC MEDICATION SHOULD NOT USE THIS PRACTICE. If you don't reach the staff in Cary, you will be deferred to a call center in India, where the agent repeats a script like a machine, speaks broken English, doesn't understand what you're saying, and will leave you feeling like you need a new prescription just to handle these Alice in Wonderland phone calls. You will fall down the rabbit hole, as if you weren't there already. read more

This is the worst medical practice I've ever dealt with. They are unresponsive to any and all concerns, won't allow you to get a refill for a prescription unless you make an appointment, and if you receive a response from them, it will be sent by a rude person. The customer service representatives also appear to be from either Pakistan or India, which means it's harder to receive a response in a timely fashion if they live in those countries. They have a history of rescheduling appointments without letting the patients know or even asking if they can make that appointment. If you want more proof that this organization is horrible, please check their reviews on websites like Yelp, Google, Glassdoor, Indeed and the BBB. read more

This company will nickel and dime you to death. They'll make a bunch of 2 minute appointments just to what they have to say and keep it moving. They don't help or assist with anything. I would stay away from this practice and the staffing support is absolutely terrible. Another thing, after taking a psychiatric exam, I wasn't given results without a diagnosis. I do not recommend this place, please seek care elsewhere. read more

This is the future of psychiatry and psychology. And it isnt necessarously a good thing. Piedmont will take your money and accepts insurance. However, if you need anything like a refill request or a letter, then they take a ridiculously long time to provide it. They are unresponsive, inaccessible, and you can't get in touch with a human at all. Everything is automated so when you have an issue, don't expect it to be addressed. Extremely disappointed. Buyers beware. Seek other avenues. read more

Pros: they take medicaid Cons: It is impossible to get your medication refilled. If the pharmacy contacts them they do not respond. They insist that you communicate with them through their website, and the person who responds does not speak English fluently. If you cancel an appointment, they seem to have no record, and then they tell you that you skipped your appointment. If you tell them you need to reschedule, you will be told there are no appointments available. Not "there is nothing for 4 weeks". But no, they have NO appointments. When I first started going, I saw Aaron, who was really great and personable. But he left because PBS was a terrible place to work. Dr Rasul doesn't pay any attention to what you say, and tries to increase your drug dosage when it isn't necessary. And then to top it all off, he sent my pharmacy a prescription for a medication that I had never taken before, was never discussed at my previous appointments, and is for a condition I've never been diagnosed with! If I could give them zero stars I would. read more

I've never had a worse experience with a healthcare provider. They disregarded my previous diagnosis and the treatment I was told them was working well for me. They immediately switched me from my previous medication to a new one under extremely specious reasoning (that depression can mimic ADHD and so they must treat me for depression instead, if one can mimic the other surely this goes vice versa, no sense to change course like this before any test is performed or evidence gathered that the previous diagnosis was incorrect). The medication they switched me to was contraindicated with another medication I take for a physical condition. The contraindication is potentially fatal, this was never discussed. The medication they put me on has a black box warning for suicide risk, this was never discussed. When I switched medications I immediately began experiencing horrific side effects, when I tried to contact the physician to tell them what was happening I was repeatedly ignored and told to fill out an online form if I have any questions. I was hung up on by the staff when I asked to speak to my physician. After I notified them I would not be returning and my reasons for doing so, they didn't even respond. They do not care at all about their patients and are seeking only to get you on their preferred brand of drugs, regardless of what you need or what has worked for you. They disrespect you at every turn and the moment you begin considering other options they'll have moved on completely, no desire to keep you as a patient, no desire to know what they could have done better. Truly an awful experience. read more

I should have listened to the other yelp reviews but I was out of options and videocalls seemed easy at the time. Dr. R doesn't care about you at all. I've spoken with him monthly for about 5 months and he never remembered me, he'd ask the same question every time, "so youre a student right?" And every time I had to tell him "No, I work at xyz doing abc." This kind of thing should have been in my patient notes. I don't understand why he repeatedly asked me that. I don't think he ever listened or took notes on anything. Also he said he would send me an assessment test to take but didn't, for months. He finally sent the test and never looked at it. I don't think he could give less shits. All of that is frustrating and stupid, but this is the straw that broke me - Apparently they refuse to fill your prescription if you go more than 30 days without a video chat, and I only found that out today when I am basically out of my medications and they refuse to refill. They charge my insurance an insane amount of money for Dr. R to be useless for 5-10 minutes on video chat. These people are ONLY in it for the money. Now I'm scrambling to find a new Dr. again. read more

Do not see this doctor. Everything on this thread sounds totally true after my experience. I was fraudulently charged hundreds of dollars without ever having an appointment. Furthermore, it's impossible to talk to anyone. You are always rerouted to a call center in India, who tells you to email. They don't answer these emails. They don't take calls. The business will charge whatever they want, and you can't do anything about it. This business is completely a fraud. I never met Dr. Rasul. For two years, the front staff have been very difficult to work with. There are no other staff members to speak to and you can't understand the thick accents. They get very angry when you ask them to repeat themselves. The front desk staff have hung up on me multiple times when I politely asked them to repeat themselves. Every single appointment is a nightmare dealing with the front desk staff. It's a shame bc Dr. Rasul is very nice. This is the worst run practice I've ever experienced. Do not do business with them. They are awful.

I would like to give 0 stars but that was not an option. I'm a health care provider in a local academic medical center. I made the mistake of taking my adolescent child here for "intensive outpatient therapy" after we were referred by someone who did not have any experience with this "practice". From the moment I first made contact (with the overseas call center) I was uneasy. Then we went for intake and day 1 of group therapy, and I was completely appalled with every aspect of the visit. This is not real mental health care. Without a doubt these people are doing harm and preying on people who need help. I will never set foot in Piedmont Behavioral again. Terrible, Unprofessional, Scam-like business. When you call to speak to someone, there is always a poor connection, and they can never hear you so they just transfer you back into a circular recording loop. The operators who answer the phone are not friendly or help. As a matter of fact, they are rude. They do not respond to pharmacy requests, nor are professional enough to write the correct prescription that they have been be prescribing for nearly eight months. Not an actual psychiatry service this is a scam. If you are seeking help please do not go here as theyll traumatize you and confuse you further. I never talked to an actual doctor. The woman on the tele-psychiatry never even introduced who she was. I was transferring from another doctor and already on medication that worked. Immediately said they don't "like to prescribe controlled substances" which is code for they can't prescribe them. Any legitimate psychiatrist you would go to obviously is never going to immediately tell you the medication you're already on isn't right for you even if it's a controlled substance as they haven't even evaluated you yet clearly. Was basically as far as the first meeting went and told I would take basically what was a quiz next time. I assumed maybe I would speak to the actual doctor next time and maybe this woman was just getting initial information. The second meeting I was told take online quiz then next time she will tell me my diagnosis. Confused by this, I said that she hasn't even received the records from my last psychiatrist yet so how can they do this? She just said the online quiz is reliable and do that. After I said they didn't know enough about me yet she looked at me and said ok tell me what else there is harshly then stared at me. I stuttered and was taking time to get started and open up and she literally cut me off and shut me down and said "ya you need in person psychiatry" and I had to walk off the camera as I started crying. Who in their right mind would cut someone off like that while they're in a vulnerable state opening up. And to make it more demented she asked me to come back and changed her voice to be nice and said "you just had a breakthrough!" to try to gaslight me into believing what she just did didn't happen and instead me crying was somehow me having a "breakthrough" At this point I had talked to this woman for maybe ten minutes in total. The online quiz asked to answer for the past 6 months which I was already on medication for. She told me to answer the questions as if I hadn't taken medication which makes no sense as then I'm making hypothetical answers. I just have A.D.D. thats all I was there for to get A.D.D. medication. Finally when the next appointment came she told me the quiz said I didn't have A.D.D. I had anxiety and depression. She told me that my treatment option was antidepressants and started to list some which I told her I had already tried and didn't react well. She also said Strattera which is for A.D.D. which I thought I "didn't have". I was so confused what was going on and asked if they had my records from my last psychiatrist as it clearly shows I had A.D.D. and was on a medication that was a controlled substance for it and was having great success from it. She told me she still hadn't received them and I asked why she didn't follow up with me again to get them and she told me that faxes could take a day or two and I said they sent it a week ago she had ample time. She then told me if I didn't like the medication they were offering I should try somewhere else. I told her it's bad to say a passive aggressive statement like that to someone who came to you for help. She then basically said she couldn't prescribe controlled substances and would get back to me later. Got a call later I was let go from there bc they can't give my mediation and bc of my "behavior" which was clearly just calling out the scam they are to their face. I fear someone goes there's for help is misdiagnosed and given just any medication as they clearly don't know what they're doing and they're going to end up responsible for someone's life ending. Hopefully people reading this will prevent something that dark from happening as this is not an actual mental health office it's some kind of scary money making scheme. I wish I read the reviews before. read more

I made an initial appointment with Dr. Rasul. I arrived 10 minutes early for my 2pm appointment. There were about 4 people in the waiting room, but no receptionist. After about 1/2 hour, at 2:20, (20 minute after my appointment time) Dr. Rasul came in and escorted another patient into his office. A receptionist finally arrived and I asked her why the other person went in before me. She said that her appointment was scheduled for 1:45. When I asked how long it would take, she said 45 minutes. that adds up to after 3pm--more than an hour after my appointment was scheduled for. By this time I was waiting over 1/2 hour. No apology and no explanation as to why the doctor would keep me waiting for over an hour past my appointment time. I let the receptionist know I was leaving and walked out. This is no way to run a psychiatry/psychology practice. I wish I had read the other reviews posted here before making the appointment. Also, some of the sites on Dr. Rasul stated that he received his medical training in the U.S. while some say it was in Pakistan with a followup in the U.S. which is ambiguous. Spoke to him briefly on phone to make appointment and he was a bit hard to understand. His seeming indifference regarding having patients wait for a very long time with no explanation is simply rude and uncaring. I would NOT recommend him. read more

The receptionist was nice enough, but it took half an hour for her to get a response via Instant Messenger from the powers that be telling me I had to pay the $350. I left immediately. I had other doctors call me back to schedule an appointment but since I had this one, I declined them all.
