They don't charge cover but they give you a charge sheet where you have to spend $20 a person in order to not get charged a cover on the way out. The girls we were with didn't' really drink much but my buddy and I got 3 drinks that came out to close to $30. When we cashed out they wouldn't give us the cover waiver for the 2 girls even though we spent over $80 total there. They said everyone had to hit $20. After arguing a little bit we knew they weren't going to budge so my buddy & I took a shot of Jameson to get it to the right amount. I understand if the bar was busy but we were the only ones there. That's just ridiculous. I don't plan to ever go back when I'm in town again.

The price is a lit bit expensive, but it[s something you can afford every once in a while. The service is very good, and be prepared to wait depending on the time you arrive.

We decided to sit at the bar so we could watch the masters at work, bartenders who are obviously very proud of their craft. For me, it was a Boulevardier - think Negroni, but subtract the gin and add bourbon in its place. The drink was beautiful, with a hand-shaved ice cube that looked like a glimmering gem surrounded by what was easily the best cocktail I've had in years. (For those of you who follow me, you know that's high praise!) One of my friends opted for the Gin Cocktail, what the drink menu calls a "high-strength stirred drink": Umburana gin, Grand Marnier, ginger, and Rangpur lime bitters. I took a sip and can vouch for this being a high-octane drink, a quite delicious one at that. For many of the drinks, the original source of the recipe is cited. The Gin Cocktail comes from "Cooling Cups and Dainty Drinks", published in 1869 - a nice touch of history that takes one back in time while enjoying their cocktail, right down to the quintessentially British instruction to the bartender: "The recipe of Terrington demands a table spoon of bitters". How imperial! The bartenders were great, answering all of our questions about the array of items displayed on the bar, from the little misters used to give a finishing touch to cocktails to the array of botanicals and garnishes in the Mason jars on the bar. Then you walk around the corner and your suddenly up on a balcony with a huge floor (with its own bar in there). We went there with low expectations. The place turned out to be great. They had a superb 80s band playing some great hits for the night. The waitresses were also in top of their game and keep the caprinhas flowing. Their 'system' was a bit weird. When you enter they require to see your ID. They then enter you into a system and assign you a swipe card. You need the swipe card to buy things. No cash is exchanged until you are leaving the bar. At that point you go to a cashier. Everyone must hand I their card and pay the fee (pro tip: if you are a couple, put some drinks on each card, as otherwise you will be stuck with an admission fee on the zero balance card), then you get a token to leave, which is carefully examined by the bouncers. Strange, but pleasantly surprised by the night.
