This is a good place as far as laundromats go. There are 10 washing machines and 4 dryers. Washing machines cost $4 and dryers are $1 for 8 minutes. There is rarely any wait for machines. If you don't want to sit in the laundry, there are lots of cafes around or you can do your shopping at the Coles a block away while you are waiting.

Located on the corner of Riding Road and Monmouth Street Hawthorne, Vivian's has been around for about a decade. On my many visits here, it has always been a pleasure to chat to Vivian herself, and more recently, with Jenny (the new owner). Whether you need something altered, (like business pants requiring delicate length readjustment), or something mended (like holes in your favourite jumper that you've had for 10 years), then Vivian's will come to the rescue. Before throwing out or giving up on your clothing items (new or old), its worthwhile coming in to Vivian's to see if they have a solution. In most cases they can fix it or alter it for a decent price. They are helpful for all those special occasions, like formals or weddings, and they also provide dry cleaning, as well as ironing services. I once saw a guy come in here with a tub full of business shirts that had just come out of the dryer, and it was obvious he'd decided that ironing all of them was a no-no. But Vivian's would do it! Service is great, friendly, efficient, and the quality of work for everything I've had done, has always been superb.

I took in two expensive work shirts in to have sleeve length taken up. Discussed with lady length and re-positing of cuff, came to pick up and they had not done the adjustment anything like we had agreed on. instead of taking the excess bulk out of the arm width so it lined up with the cuff she had gathered the fabric together making the sleeve a puff sleeve. I ask her to redo it like we had agreed? the way she had done it made it completely unwearable as I couldn't bend my arms. she redid it and when I went to pick them up she was saying I was under charged for how much work she has done and should pay her $20 more making it $58 for each shirt to have the sleeve length taken up. I said that was not the agreed price and it was not my fault they had to do it twice as she did it completely different to what I have asked for and what she agreed to do in the 1st place. She was very rude and disrespectful to me. I will never go back there! for things that should have been simple for them if this is there line of work they stuffed it up on two different occasions with three expensive items of my clothes.

The experience from start to finish has been extremely poor, very stressful and unsatisfactory. I wonder how this business can last over 50 years in the industry - this is what they say to you when you advise how they can destroy a garment worth over $500. I took two garments (one Sass and Bide Silk Jumpsuit and a Zimmermann dress here for dry cleaning) I picked both items and checked the items in the store (they never check the clothes before they give them to you - they just try to take your money). The Zimmermann dress was fine (thank god!) but the silk jumpsuit was the exactly the same as I had taken it there for cleaning - slight makeup stains near the strap and chest area. I explained this this was not clean and I wanted this mark to be cleaned and removed. The lady had said they could use harsher chemicals to get stain out but I would need to sigh a waiver (Basically stating if the item gets ruined - it would be my responsibility and they would not be liable for any damage) I advised I didn't want the harsh chemicals and I just wanted a 'normal professional dry clean'. Long story cut short. I picked up the jumpsuit and checked again and the makeup stain now had shredded cuts throughout the silk and holes through the legs of the jumpsuit!! I was devastated. I could not wear this item again. The lady asked me was "It like this when I handed it in"!? This was back on 8 February 2021 and the amount of phone calls and constant conversations with Teesha and another lady - It was very hard to get in contact with the owner Emanuel - I had to chase around for Emanuel number and was constantly told he was in the factory and 'busy'. They blamed the manufacturer - Sass and Bide for the fault (shredded silk and holes!) and also blamed the fact that I had never dry cleaned before (why would that matter?) After a lot of phone conversations - Emanuel sent it back to a factory for testing - he said it would take 2 weeks - 3 months past ! - I only was told 9 April 2021 that the testing report had come back. (I had phoned numerous times in between to find out what was going on to be told it was sent to America for testing!!) The Manager Emanuel never called me back again! - They said the test results came back and it was the manufactures fault after all that. No compensation and no refund of the dry-cleaning of the garment and NO APOLOGY just a lot of stress and constantly following up and now out of pocket for over $500.00 - DO NOT GO TO THIS DRYCLEANER - You're clothes will be ruined and they take no responsibility!

All you have to do is request something and they'll do their very best to deliver. That goes for same-day alterations and difficult jobs. Their speciality is pant and trouser alterations by far, and can accommodate for any request you have. Brisbane City Alterations is a great service because they accept your clothing whether you call before hand or just wander in. They're so helpful and ridiculously fast at their job. One time in particular, I sat there and waited and they were done in about ten minutes. Totally efficient, excellent workmanship. They're trusted by companies and individuals alike and can alter anything from pocket holes and pant legs to jacket arms (which is apparently pretty tricky).

I had contacted The Fitting Room via email before we arrived, because they were the closest place to our hotel, explaining the situation, and seeing if there was anything at all they could do. They got back to me right away, and said sure thing, bring it in. Long story not so short, the woman we dealt with was AMAZING and so funny and pleasant. Not only did they fix his suit perfectly for him, but they did it with such a big time restraint, and fixed a huge problem that we thought was inevitable to fix. Can't recommend this place enough.
