Example: Sized Large and in the wrong section, and then it's actually a size small according to internal tag. This has forced me to check every tag when I shop here and it's extremely frustrating. Staff is usually nice. But I had a crazy situation happen and I feel uncomfortable about it. I always hook my keys on my finger. I went to pay and had them under my clothes to pay. I set them on the counter. I walked about 10 feet away for a sec to hang something I no longer wanted back up so the cashier didn't have to. I came back to pay, went to walk to my car, realized my keys weren't there. Thinking the most rational thought, I'd left on the counter, or they fell, I didn't see them anywhere. I asked the manager to check where they were. She said I never took them off my finger, WHICH IS NOT THE TRUth...and was insisting that I'd dropped them outside. I didn't. It's day time. She them told me "this stuff been happening a lot." If people are losing items like this out of nowhere, it's time to investigate your staff. This makes no sense. I then had to uber home to grab new keys, and hope my car and items in it would still be there. I'm not accusing anyone directly. This was very bizarre and the behavior of the management didn't sit well with me.

Recently, I drove to the La Mesa store with a car full of donations during a very heavy rainstorm. I pulled up to the marked donation drop-off door but was told I could not park there and needed to move across the lot, get a cart, and bring everything in myself. I explained that i was not parking, I am handicapped and offloading since it was pouring rain, but was still told no. I ended up leaving without donating or shopping. As a loyal supporter of FJV, I was very disappointed by the lack of understanding and outright rudness.

The quality of the items is impressive, and the store is well organized, which makes browsing enjoyable. That said, the pricing feels more like a boutique than a thrift store. While I understand that proceeds go toward a good cause, I often leave empty‑handed because the prices are just too high for what I'd expect at a thrift. For me, part of the joy of thrifting is finding something wonderful and feeling like I scored a bargain -- not like I overpaid. If you don't mind paying a lot more, you'll likely find unique and quality pieces here. But if you're hunting for that classic thrift‑store bargain, be prepared that prices may not match the typical thrifting experience.

My brother, a professional organizer in…read moreOregon, and I had an overwhelming cleanout project in San Diego this past February and April for a family member living in a hoarder situation. We were urgently searching for a reliable hauling service to help us remove an enormous amount of clothing, shoes, and accessories--all intended for donation. After a full day of searching, we found Kreg's Hauling, and thank goodness we did. From the very first call, Scott was responsive, understanding, and professional. He made the drive from Encinitas to San Diego multiple times--four trips total--and hauled away over 150 heavy bags, each easily weighing between 75 to 100 pounds. The physical effort alone was extraordinary, but what made Scott truly stand out was his compassion and sensitivity. This was not just any job. The homeowner is a family member who is living with dementia, and emotions were high. Scott was polite, respectful, and incredibly considerate throughout the entire process. He treated our family and our situation with dignity, something that mattered to us deeply. In a situation that could have felt chaotic and overwhelming, Scott's presence brought a sense of calm, professionalism, and humanity. I can't recommend Kreg's Hauling enough--especially for jobs that require not just muscle, but also heart. Thank you, Scott! You were a lifesaver for us! Please forgive my delay in getting this review done!
