My first visit to Light Years was for breakfast; a delicious and unforgettable meal it was…read more The location was off the beaten path, it took me about 15-20 minutes walk from the nearest metro. I was wondering why such a popular spot would be so isolated? But all is well worth the effort to get here. The venue is brimming with natural lighting, classic charm and warmth. For my breakfast, I ordered the Pixelated avocado (on a sourdough toast) because it just looked so darn intriguing. I didn't expect anything else to be honest, and turned out this was GOOD!! Every single element in this dish has complex flavors that compliments each other. The chili dried air kale, diced pixelated avocado and the soft shell crab was especially stunning. The dish certainly performs to its Instagram ability. For my drink, I ordered their matcha latte; it was strong tasting yet smooth. I could drink this all day! The Light Years is certainly not disappointing in any way, from the beautiful venue to the outstanding food, supported with service and ambiance for days. Easily, my favorite brunch spot in town at the moment and much to recommend you :).

Went to Light Years for Sunday brunch and was relieved to find that, although very busy, the wait…read moretime was only a few minutes. Recently opened at the bottom of a new apartment block just along from the Camberwell tram depot, it should not be confused with Lights in the Attic cafe which is a bit further down Camberwell Road. The fit out is the now common scandi/minimalist affair with a smattering of potted greenery. Coffee is from Dukes, but the star of the show here is the food. All the dishes I saw coming out looked great and were good sized portions. I had the bircher and it was a generous serve, looked pretty and tasted even better. Overall a good value and tasty option for brunch/lunch in the leafy inner east.

A cute little spot in the middle of a neighborhood. There's ample parking which is a huge plus. We…read moretried several items on the menu including: Thai Chicken Salad: a little one dimensional, needed a little more zing to the sauce. Nice ingredients, but really heavy on the bean sprouts. Lamb Souvlaki Sliders: absolutely delicious.... lamb with tzatziki, everything you would find in souvlaki but served like little sliders using lavash as the 'bun'. Poached Eggs on Toast: a really creative dish topped with pomegranate seeds, pepitas and more. I wasn't sure the pomegranate seeds would work, but it was perfect. Nice mix of flavors and textures. Pulled Pork Sandwich: not like pulled pork you'll find in the US as it isn't overly sweet. Jerk Fries: absolute bomb! Super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Must order! They have great coffees here so don't miss out on them. I'm not even a coffee drinker and I seriously enjoyed it. Always go for single origin!

This is a lovely little place hidden in the suburbs, with decent coffee and a good breakfast menu…read more Even though the place is small, it's not been crowded when I've been there, and there are crayons and paper to keep the little ones entertained. There's a decent bakery selection as well, and service is quite prompt and friendly. They're also relatively accommodating for variations to their menu (e.g. if you didn't want something in your meal). Staff are also pretty knowledgeable about the menu. I'm not a fan of their toast though, which always seems to come out really hard and almost impossible to cut. I'm not sure why that's the case; maybe the bread is heated twice or something but there have been times when people I've eaten at G&F with have had to abandon their knives and just tear at their toast with their hands and teeth to get some. Parking is just whatever you can come by on the street, but I've usually just walked here since it's relatively local.
