If you love pickles and people -- Picklesburgh is the place to be. But if you're not into shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, chaos, and carnival-like energy, you might want to sit this one out. The entire festival takes place across two of Pittsburgh's most iconic bridges -- the Roberto Clemente and Andy Warhol -- which become completely flooded with pickle lovers, vendors, and performers. It's loud, it's packed, and it's 100% Pittsburgh.

Picklesburgh is a great time but it was so so so hot and sunny this year. It was straight up nasty to be outside. There was minimal shade cover. I wonder why this festival isn't in the fall since that's after cucumber harvest season when people would pickle them anyway. I love the vibes and the crowds and the fact that they're back on the bridges this year. I wish they had more cultural pickled things too like kimchi and sauerkraut since that would've been so cool. Overall, very iconic for pittsburgh and it's always so fun with friends. Definitely recommend checking it out if you love local events and food!

While visiting family outside of the Pittsburgh area I heard about the Picklesburg festival and really wanted to check it out. It was definitely packed with people but if you don't mind the crowds it was a lot of fun to see Pickles everywhere's! It was great to see the many pickled flavored creations, from beer, cocktails, desserts, food and even Christmas ornaments! I loved browsing the booths and trying some of them out! Some were hits and others were misses but it was a lot of fun to check it out ! We also caught a pickle eating contests. It was hot out so it would have been nice to have some water stations set up throughout the festival to help stay hydrated. You could tell there were many return pickle fans as they were dressed in pickle attire. Fun event if you are in the area during the Picklesburgh festival.

I didn't think I liked pickles but Picklesburgh has shifted my perspective because of all the delicious options like pickled grilled cheese, pickled cocktails and so much more! My only suggestions for this festival are to add free water stations. It was 93 degrees during the festival and the lines to buy water were so long. It seems extremely unsafe to not provide free water to the hundreds of people at this festival. Also, come early! Like an hour early. The festival opened at 12 and we got there at 11:45 and were able to easily get in line and try several food and drink item easily. By 12:30 the lines were enormous.

Lovely free festival/street fair in downtown Pittsburgh focused on everything PICKLE! Pickle-flavored ice cream, beer, fudge and lemonade are some examples of what you can expect at Picklesburgh. Lots of photo ops and food stands throughout. There are also some dedicated bar areas throughout. There are also stages on each end of Blvd. of the Allies. There are bands playing throughout the festival...be sure to look at the schedule to see who is playing. The main area, PPG Plaza, offers some great photo ops of the iconic Heinz Pickle Float. Their website is very helpful giving lots of useful visitor information; maps, schedules, directions and parking. Be sure to look their before visiting. I was lucky enough to find metered parking a few blocks south near the Point State Park at around 4:30pm on Thursday, the first day of the festival. It was about $6 for the hour and a half. All meters are free after 6pm. There are also parking lots in the area but they are not as cheap as the meters.

What a great fair/festival I attended for my first time in 2024. Pirates also had a home game for Yinzerpalooza weekend. The festival wasnt that crowded early on but WOW it really got packed by 4pm. The weather was over 90 as well but the crowd was good but it was really crowded. The lines for food were not bad in the beginning but some lines mid afternoon were very long but I think that can be expected. I'm pretty sure beer is served all day but liquor sales were after 4pm. All in all it was a great event with a ton of unique pickle flavored options. Would be fun to attend again

In my opinion, this is a very overhyped festival. If you dislike crowds this is NOT the place for you. I attended with the intent to try different foods with pickle added to it (popcorn, grilled cheese, ice cream, etc.) The lines for all the food stands were insanely long. It took me 50 mins in line to get a grilled cheese sandwich that was just a regular grilled cheese with pickle radish in the middle probably bought from the grocery store. Food was also overpriced I paid $8 for a large pickle. This event is really just for people to go downtown and take instagramable photos. Given the crowds a recommendation for the future would be to spread this out to more than just 3 blocks.

Visited with my wife during our minication. Elbow to elbow people! Not enough room to really enjoy. Long line for food and beverage reduced the walking areas. Glad I'm not claustrophobic! Unfortunately my wife is! A couple of tastes treats were had and there was some reasonably good bands!

I love pickles and even if the combination is foul with certain things, I love to try it anyway. I have gone twice: 2021 and 2023. It is getting bigger every year, and I found it to be more beneficial to get there as early as possible, since it does get extremely crowded. First year I went I didn't do a ton. I got the pickle beer, a jar of the Pittsburgh Pickles, and stopped by Bae Bae's Kitchen for boba and kimchi. Second time I went on two separate days. The best I had was Mancini's sandwich roll and a relish grilled cheese. Turner's was there thankfully but I only got the regular tea (they had a pickle tea).

I haven't been here for years and boy has it changed. It is now so much bigger, but it also brings bigger crowds. The booths were so crowded you couldn't even get close to get in line. We walked across the bridge and at times it was a standstill. They actually stopped people from walking over as it was too crowded. The 10th Street Bypass was incredible, with so many booths and people. The 4 of us decided it was too crowded a place for us so we left without eating or drinking. We did get a pickle pin!!!

I've always been the person who picks the pickles off their sandwiches so it was very ironic for me to go to a food festival dedicated to pickles. Only in Pittsburgh right? And when they say its a festival about pickles, they were not kidding. There is pickle ice cream, pickle beef jerky, pickle corn dogs, bags with pickles on them, etc. The only thing that was missing was a person wearing a giant pickle outfit which I felt like would have been very fitting given the occassion. We tried a couple of different eats but I have to say that the best thing we tried was definitely just the plain pickles from the Brine. They have a ton of different flavored pickles and would highly recommend trying all the flavors to get a better understanding of their difference. Also, the prices there are also very fair too. You get what you paid for, and there's not a lot of overcharging for food which you would expect at a festival like this one. I will say that there were a lot less booths than I had expected, but also keeping in mind COVID-19 is still raging so maybe that is a good thing? Plan to spend maybe 45 minutes-1.5 hours here. Overall, definitely will say that Picklesburgh converted me to trying out more pickles. Am I die-hard pickles fan? No, but will I stop picking off pickles from sandwiches. Probably.

This was a great event. A multitude of vendors on display at this event. A huge turnout- so caution to anyone who has claustrophobia! Very long lines at many booths so you have to be mentally prepared to wait a while for the opportunity to sample/purchase an item.

I love pickles so much so I was so excited to hear about Pittsburgh. We tried the pickle beer and it was amazing! So many options for different pickle foods. It was crowded but a nice environment

Garage parking was a flat 5.00 fee. Easy to get in and out and plenty of parking available. Also, restrooms available in the garage. Cons: I didn't stay as long as I would have liked because maneuvering from one stage to the next was claustrophobic and dangerous because the sidewalks were nearly impassible. There were people's chairs on them plus venues had their tables and chairs on them, as well. Two way foot traffic was nearly impossible. So, I cried "Uncle" and we ended up at the Harris Theater to watch a wonderful foreign film.

Every June (or early July) for the last four years, Pittsburgh Jazz Live Fest has descended upon the 'Burgh. And, this year was the best so far! I was only able to make the second day this year. And, it was an awesome experience! My day began with a tribute to Dorothy Ashby concert, "Afro Harping", by the talented jazz harpist Brandee Younger. Moving on to a performance by the Messenger Legacy. Followed by an AMAZING concert by Gregory Porter. And, the last performance that I was able to catch was The Joe Locke Group - which was my favorite show of the day. Along with the awesome jazz performances came some pretty awesome food trucks and vendors! TGIFridays was there giving out free "samples" all day - like huge burger sliders and thirst quenching fruity drinks. Basically, if you hung around their truck, you could gorge yourself on free food all day. There were some really great area small businesses too, like Franktuary and BRGR, as well as the lesser known tea/popsicle vendors Healcrest Farms. That, and all of the regular area bars and restaurants like Seviche and Nine on Nine, etc, were hoppin'! I wish I would have been able to make Friday and Sunday, for events like the Jazz Bar Crawl (Friday) and a performance by multiple grammy award winner Dianne Reeves (Sunday)! Thankfully, there's always next year!

I last reviewed the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival twelve years ago (!!!), when I was still a…read moreregular and went every year. Now though? Well...now I'm not a regular and I don't go every year. I actually took a long break and skipped attending the Fair for many years. I reached a point where I couldn't justify paying the entrance fee to hear the same jokes as the year prior, or to spend more money shopping for trinkets I didn't need. So once one of their regular performers retired, I took it as a sign and I stepped away. That was until that regular came out of retirement - that was enough reason for me to come back; so I figure now is as good a time as any to update my review of the Ren Fair overall. On a positive note: there are now multiple new performers at this Ren Fair. I was very happy to spend a full day walking around hearing new music, watching new acts, and so forth. (I especially appreciated the new additions after walking by a returning comedy act and hearing the exact same jokes that I remembered from "BC"...you know, "Before COVID"...) Something else has changed in the years since I last visited the Fair. There's a relatively new app on the block now called TikTok - you might have heard of it. Well let me tell you, nerds like me love it. And we post about the shenanigans we get into, such as going to the local Ren Fair. Well videos of the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival took off this year, and they definitely got the attention of some new attendees. So for the first time that I can remember, when I drove out this year, traffic to get into the Fair was backed up not just onto the road...but onto I-70 itself. (I'll interrupt my own story time now to admit there might have been other factors too...but I vividly remember seeing NUMEROUS TikTok videos about the Ren Fair, way more than usual. Make of this anecdote what you will.) The additional foot traffic was good for the Fair I'm sure, but there's really not that much this Fair can do in the way of expanding to accommodate said foot traffic. The crowds being what they were, I didn't even attempt to watch the jousts. I also made sure I planned my day and got to other shows super early so I could find a seat for them. Final thoughts: it was good to see some updates to the Fair lineup this year. But generally speaking, my visit felt like 'same Ren Fair, different year'...yet was simultaneously the busiest weekend I can remember. Go figure. I'm most likely to come back to this Ren Fair if: 1) My favorite performer continues to come back. 2) My friends want to go. Otherwise, I'm probably skipping. It's not that the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival itself is bad; it's that after being a regular for literal decades, I'm OK with no longer being an annual patron. (And my wallet is OK with that decision, too!)

I admit, it's a beloved tradition, but it can also be a bit of an underwhelming tradition some years. I personally know what I'm getting into every year, but I can see where first-timers would get frustrated. But still, there really is plenty to appreciate here, especially if you have a family. I love walking around with my mother every year and always look forward to the following: *Exploring the enormous Irish marketplace. *Saying hello to a friend who brings their gypsy caravan to the event as a nice cultural addition. *Trying the beers and ciders - expensive, yes, but also very, very good and worth it! *Seeing the animals that are brought out - an array of Irish dogs and ponies is not uncommon here, although it varies on the day, weather, etc. *Listening in on several workshops; there are always really wonderful musicians and storytellers here; they're wonderful additions to everything else. *Stopping in at the vendor booths along the paths; the Welsh cookie stand is one of my favorites! BUT, I do admit, the festival is not without flaws: -Food here is expensive and a lot of it reminds me more of American pub food than Irish food, although I admittedly can't comment on just how authentic the food actually is. -The marketplace, despite being an amazing place to shop, is, well, pretty Americanized. For every jeweler or wood crafter that makes their items by hand, there's two stands selling "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" shirts and other things along those lines. It's kind of sad to see so many awful commercialized items mixed in amongst the handmade ones. -Last but not least, yes: parking is a NIGHTMARE. Be prepared to deal with it. I'm sorry. It can't be helped. Well, flaws or not, I'll keep coming back, and I do recommend that everyone visit at least one time! After all, if enough people attend maybe the festival will move to a bigger location with better parking - right?

Once you're inside, expect to pay steep prices for food that's really not that uniquely Irish, as well as drinks--both alcoholic and non. In order to get drinks, you have to stand in line to get tickets, and then stand in another line to use them! This process should be streamlined so that you can buy and use tickets without having to stand in two lines. The highlights of this festival are the Irish music and dancing and the handcrafted merchandise. If you're really into those, then it might be worthwhile to go (although even then, I'm not sure, given the price of admission). Otherwise, I'd give this festival a pass and head over to the Ren Fest, which charges about the same for admission, doesn't charge for parking, and has more reasonably priced food/drinks--not to mention more fun activities and varied entertainment.
