However, in the small outskirt town of Pozuelo there exist a small Italian restaurant that, in my eyes, measures up to being truly Italian. This place is authentic in its food and decor. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in an old world authenticity. With seating both inside and outside, this place offers a venue that is warm and inviting. But, with very limited seating ensure you make a reservation. The staff is very friendly and speak English if you need some help. Both our waitress and waiter helped us decipher the menu and choose the perfect lunch entrees. My wife and I enjoyed every bite of each dish. We ordered the biscotti breadsticks, the pumpkin sauce with penne pasta, and a mushroom based sauce with egg noodles. All was exceptionally scrumptious and each dish is a shareable portion (and that's coming from an American who knows about large portions). The price was right too, by the way. For the two of us with all that food and drinks we paid €45. Overall, this is a great place. Considering that our group spoke very little Spanish, the staff was very gracious in helping us get our orders. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the service is fast; we had our food in almost no time. Now, on to the food. The food is not the best I've had in this chain (hence the number two slot). The lomo was probably the best dish with a sweet cream sauce. The calzone was crispy but the inside was overly watery and it could definitely do without the drizzle of balsamic vinegar on top. The arrabbiata sauce was tasty but heartburn central (that's my own personal issue not a reflection on the restaurant). Lastly, the ratio of sauce to cheese on the pizza was totally off (virtually zero sauce) and the crust was more like a cracker. Overall, this was not my favorite. The food was not what I have experienced in the other restaurant. I prefer the one in Pozuelo.
