Got signed in and about 15 minutes later I was hurried though the door with the person assisting stating they were running behind. I felt very rushed as I changed into my gown. Long story short, I was stuffed in the MRI machine, strapped down, after the plugs stuffed in my ears by the attendees, which I had to stop them for me to put the ear plugs on correctly. Then, as I felt they were stuffing me in the machine. I was very uncomfortable, my heart was racing and I couldn't go through with the test. THEN, as I'm taken out of this machine, I'm told they had a larger MRI machine that was not working. So. I had reason to freak out in that tiny machine for normal size people. Yes, I'm obese but that's no excuse to be put through that.

Their receptionist tried to bill me the non-discounted amount, I told her the lower price that I had been given over the phone, and she gave me a carefully wordsmithed response of "then that's all we'll collect from you today", without acknowledging that they would bill me more later. I had to file a fraud complaint with my insurance company to get them to honor the discount. Even after that, they sent me an additional bill later. The billing department (at St. Joseph's) first said that they were associated with Bryan Radiology & handled all their billing, but then said that they were unaware that Bryan Radiology had additional fees. There are other imaging centers in town, and some ENTs will even do CT scans for much less than this place, so do some price shopping and you'll be in better shape.

No one ever gave me any instructions s that I couldn't eat or drink for 4 hours prior to the procedure. I had eaten, so we had to reschedule. This morning I went in for my rescheduled appointment. Two different technicians attempted an IV for my contrast and neither of them could find a vein, so they sent me home again. They told me that I was possibly dehydrated and I should have been drinking water. Are you kidding me? Oh, and they charged my credit card for a procedure they could not do! I would never use this company again!!

It means you're hurting somewhere. And the actual MRI itself is such a bizarre thing. In the not-so-distant future, we will look back on this technology the same way we currently look at VCR's. Not to sound snooty about a machine that can look inside your body, but it's insanely loud and you must remain perfectly still like you're dead for it to work. Every time I go in for one, I can't believe this is still the best way to do this. However, that's the case for any MRI. And my Alliance MRI was pretty painless. I was called back before the start of my appointment and the whole process was no nonsense. A few days later, they sent the report over to my Ortho, and bonus points to Alliance, I had no tears in my achilles. I can give credit to them for that, right?
