Due to the fact that I was planning to attend a Software Engineering Bootcamp, I was pressed for…read moretime between procedure/recovery and class start date, so I decided to forgo a more popular well known doctor and randomly selected Dr. Patel as he was also in my provider network. At first, I wasn't going to write a review, but was urged to do so by....EVERYONE I TELL THIS EXPERIENCE TO! Red Flags/Questionable Behavior 1. The first red flag was an ever-changing procedure date due to what I found was the inability to secure a medical team. This is important because it affected my ability to secure someone reliable and desirable to transport me as once this procedure was completed one cannot drive one's self home. 2. Promised to call me every day post procedure but ghosted me for days (see #4) leaving me to speak with his office manager Marjorie for medical advice. At least I can say that she was very sweet and extremely nice. 3. There was no post procedural nurse on staff so you are solely relying upon him for post-procedural care. 4. He did not know me or the (toxic/sociopathic/desperate) female acquaintance who brought me to this appointment (going back to #1) from a can of paint but when asked if she had contacted him (because I knew that she had) He began to lecture me on being a "bad friend". I knew something was off/odd as I began to notice a pattern of behavior of him only calling me when "she" called him to tell him "I was in pain" or that "I needed him to call me" for one reason or the other...I had to remind him that A. I was his patient and knew how to call him if I needed him B.not to discuss anything of a medical nature(which he denied but the evidence spoke otherwise...HIPPA anyone?) and C. HE CANNOT and WILL NOT QUESTION MY ABILITY TO BE A FRIEND, CAST JUDGEMENT ON THE TYPE OF PERSON I AM I.E. MY INTEGRITY...while engaging in less than professional behavior...OK...So, lemme get this straight...you can call her and she can call you...but no-one can call me?...what's wrong with that picture? I have a name and it's not "Daft" 5. Since the Percocet was making me too high /constipated and opioids are addictive; I asked him to please take me off of the drug, I even had a childhood friend who is a PHARM D /Medical Science Liason to give me names of drugs to ask him for as an alternative...he refused. First stating "You're the only person who asked to be taken off...most people ask for refills!"...(You can't make this up!) Then flat out telling me "No!". He saw advocacy as an affront to his "status" as a doctor...instead of seeing it for what it was...a patient understanding their medication tolerance seeking an alternative to a very dangerous pain reliever. 6. To prove my point, I texted him to ask for an alternative after taking Percocet. The next day, instead of conceding that I should be given an alternative drug or showing empathy or compassion; he tells his assistant to tell me "Most doctors don't talk to their patients!" I was like "Really? Isn't that what doctors do? consult and provide patient care?..." there is no nurse on staff so you are it buddy....but...um okay". I just gave up. Finally, I decided to take my PharmD friend's advice on pain management in lieu of Percocet as she was a Medical Science liaison who educated doctors on meds. Today, though I eat right and exercise regularly, I'm still suffering from large fibroids, a protruding 4-month pregnant abdomen, and the continued stress of having to find alternative methods of fibroid reduction after this "experience". You need to not only understand but OVERSTAND that someone doing their job, is not the same as doing you a favor. The treatment plan/post procedural roadmap was lacking...but you don't know, what you don't know sometimes until much later when you consult with a professional who actually cares. If you choose this practice ask alot of questions, don't be afraid to advocate, get as much information on the meds that you are taking, chart your progress, don't be gaslit into thinking you are problematic for wanting good medical care.

However, he has continued to bill my insurance hundreds of dollars, multiply times even half a year later! Do not see him, he is clearly all about the money.

My primary care physician wrote an order for me to have an ultrasound at this facility which is…read morein-network for my medical insurance. She gave me a copy and also faxed a copy over to the facility. When I called to make the appointment, they asked me if I had the order and I confirmed that I did and that my doctor had also faxed over a copy. They still asked me to bring the order to my appointment which I did. However, when I showed up for my appointment, they said that they had just called my doctor to fax over the order because they did not have one and the notes taken when I made the appointment stated that I did not have an order. After I got through that fiasco and was called in to sign docs and pay, they told me that my portion of the cost would be $2,500. I had done this exact same procedure just one year before at the same facility, same office, same technician, and my bill was $700, which I thought was really outrageous at the time. However, just one year later the cost more than tripled. I canceled the appointment on the spot, and my doctor sent me another order for an out-of-network imaging facility a few blocks away and my bill was $210.00 for the exact same procedure. This is why healthcare costs are unaffordable and out of control.
