People that came in after me ,,were late for their appointments,,got called in before me! On e woman came after me ,,when they called her in the nurse thanked her for coming earlier! They said they had a biopsy emergency,,dermatologist do biopsies all the time! I had an area that probably needed a biopsy done. I waited 45 minutes and then wanted to reschedule,,,they were ready to put me in an exam room ! I asked ,How long will I wait in exam room? Nurse said 10 minutes or more? I didn't believe that, I finally left ,,,I will not reschedule with Dr Koreen ,,,he obviously over books ,, spends too long with each patient! It's not fair to make patients wait 45 minutes to an hour to be seen ! I have gotten a great reference for a different Dermatologist!

Due to their new agreement with ProHealth, I was given about 7 pages of information I had to fill out. At 10:55 I was called in. I noticed the office was overly packed with patients. I was put in one of the exam rooms and spoke to a sweet nurse from ProHealth. Nurses kept coming in and out of the exam rooms with boxes. The nurses kept interrupting us and asking "who is coming here?" "Where should I put this?" What is... Who is... Where is...." Looked like a circus show with jugglers all over not knowing anything. Then, I was moved to another exam room because they needed the exam room I was in for something else. The nurses kept running around and saying in Spanish: "Ay, Dios Mio!" "Que Dios me ayude y de paciencia!" (English translation: "Oh My God" and "God help me and give me patience!") I heard this multiple times from different nurses to the point I started to laugh out loud; even though I thought it was quite unprofessional. I was moved to the new exam room and settled in for the procedure. In the past, they will do the skin grafting, will wait in the exam room and then they will come with the results. Not this time. When I got all settled, Dr. Siegel came in. Very friendly guy and we talked about travel interests. After the procedure, the nurse said, "Ok, gathered all of your belongings and you can wait in the waiting area." A bit perplexing but I thought it should not take that long... it is about 1145am. I went to the waiting area and there weren't enough chairs! There were people standing all over! They even had to bring office chairs for people to sit. I gave up my seat for an elderly woman. There was many of us with bandages sitting around. Some people had bandages in the face, nose, head, arms, legs... it was like an episode of MASH and everyone is in a triage area outside of the tent waiting for treatment. I finally sat in one of the 'benches' in front of the reception/check-in area. While sitting there for over an hour (it is now about 1pm) I saw at least 3 people come up to the window asking for their appointments to be re-scheduled. They got too tired of waiting. In the waiting area some of us started to talk. I've been there since 10am and it is now close to 2pm. I haven't had any food since breakfast at 9am and getting quite hungry. I tried to chew gum and concentrate in my book reading and other things I brought to entertain myself. No use. I started to talk to a lady who brought in her mom (a sweet older lady using a walker to move around) and they had been there as long as I had. We were all commenting in what we have seen throughout the morning and were all very upset. I finally got up and went to the ProHealth receptionist. I did tell her, "I've been here since 10 am and it is now after 2 pm. I never had to wait this long for a Moss procedure. I want to know how long it is going to take for this. I got to drive 2 hours home and do not want to get caught in rush hour traffic. I never had to wait this long for a Moss procedure. Before I was in and out within an hour or an hour and a half the most." The receptionist said: "well, I've been doing this for over 10 years and never, ever a Moss procedure takes an hour!" My response: "well, the point is that I've been here since 10 am, It is now almost 2pm, I am hungry and getting very cranky. I need to know how much longer is going to take." The receptionist left. A few minutes later she comes back and apologized. I did tell her: "you have to understand this, I've moved two hours away in Jersey and got a new dermatologist 20 minutes from me. But I drive 2 hours each way to see Dr. Koreen because I like it here. I can have my files transferred and avoid this mess." I did mention to her about the people standing and waiting. She did mentioned that they over-scheduled too many Moss surgeries. I said: "then you need to do a better job at scheduling appointments. This can't happen again." She apologized. Shortly thereafter, I was called and was given the "all clear". But instead of starting the stitching process, I was told to go back to the waiting area. AGAIN! I was called and another doctor came in. While I as getting prepped, she starting to ask for things like "I need a razor. Where are they?" and other things. At one point she said: "what is going on? Is this is the first time we are doing this?" One of the frazzeled nurses runs out to get what she needs. Again, I thought it was unprofessional to make such comments in front of patients. I was finally out of there around 230pm. I rushed to my car with no food and started my 2 hour drive to Jersey to avoid the traffic. I got home at 4:45pm. Follow up: Dr. Koreen called me and we spoke on the phone about what happened. Hopefully this is part of the "growing pains" and won't happen again!

I last saw him in March. I said the cyst was getting bigger. He said to leave it alone and put MAKEUP on it. I unfortunately took his advice and left it alone. It became infected at the end of June. I could not get an appointment with him, which is probably a blessing. I went to another dermatologist who drained it but said I should see a plastic surgeon. I saw a plastic surgeon today, who had to drain it again and put me on another antibiotic. He said that I have to wait six weeks for it to heal and then he can remove the cyst. He said this all could have been avoided if I had it removed before it became infected. Dr. Flugman is arrogant, dismissive, condescending, rushed and also appears to give poor medical advice. Find another dermatologist. My mother also is a patient of Dr. Flugman. She has a cyst on her head. He told her to leave it. There appears to be a theme.

This was my first visit to a dermatologist office (now I know better). A reputable dermatologist would've check the whole body for a mole screening, especially if this was the first visit for a mole screening. They get a benchmark so they have a starting point during the yearly checkups. I showed Dr. Flugman the mole and he glanced at it for literally a second and said it's nothing to worry about. I told him that the mole had changed shape, has a dark spot in the middle of the mole in an effort to get a bit more information but nothing. He said it is fine and with that, walked out. Waited over 1 1/2 hours to be seen by the doctor and charged $175.00 for the one second doctor visit. I would never recommend this office. I have gone to another dermatology office and the experience was totally different. They were busy, but I waited (new patient) no more than 20 minutes. During that time I filled out the new patient forms. I was checked head to toe for moles and they logged the ones to keep an eye on.

However, a family member went recently with symptoms of a stroke. They took a CT scan, which is inconclusive for a stroke. And sent him home, the same night, not able to walk on his own, and with very high blood pressure. They told me he did not suffer a stroke and that it's just general weakness from the arthritis he has in his knee and hip. Flash forward 5 days later. We visit a doctor who tells us to go back immediately, bc he did in fact suffer a stroke and must get an MRI done immediately. They misdiagnosed a stroke. With all the signs in the hospital that claim they're #1 in this regard, they should be ashamed of themselves. Needless to say. He's back there where the doctor told us to go. It took them an additional 33 hours to give him the MRI. Which is inexcusable according to multiple hospitals on LI that I have called asking about this. Unless they're trying to cover their tracks for the 5 day blunder on their part. I would normally wait to post a review, but ANYONE who fears they suffered a stroke should not use this hospital as they're negligent and delayed treatment during a very critical time because of malpractice.
