Fiction is all neatly printed with the author's last name on a sticker on the spine, which makes it is really easy to spot the author you are looking for. There is a pretty decent section of large print and mystery and the library offers video games you can borrow! The newspapers are kept in this rather genius way- the various sections are slid onto what looks like a Japanese kendo sword. One end has a handle and the other end is a rubber ring which holds together the wood slats that the different paper sections slide into. Having the newspaper this way means it stays fairly neat rather than a jumbled mass after others have been looking through it. There are several levels to the place so the flow can be kind of confusing if you have never been there before. I highly recommend asking a librarian where to go if you are looking for something specific. As a note you cannot be on a computer and the wifi at the same time. Parking is generally pretty easy. There is a private lot for the library itself and a lot of street parking nearby. I should add, the handicap entrance is on Court St, which is also the direction entrance to the children's area.

I really hope the public libraries like this will continue to thrive. Those DVDs educated me far more than anything I learned in grad schools. Seriously. I've been trying to checkout a state park pass from Library of Things ... it has not been successful. They told me that they only have 4 passes and 10 in the entire library system. I will keep trying! Maybe I will get lucky one day! Hey, I heard a public library in San Francisco has sewing machines! I would love a sewing and knitting/crocheting workshops here ...helping me give more fingers to the corporations by sewing my own underwears ... why not? Maybe you can cooperate with Sew Green to make it happen ... My only "complaint" is that I wish the purchase request process was more transparent .. i.e. if I could get a feedback from the librarian as to the possibility for the purchase of a particular item I want to borrow, and receiving a notification when the item is purchased ... that would be delightful ... but then I know that we can set the catalog search parameter to alert us to the items when it is cataloged in the library system, so no complaints ... Boy, was I surprised. First thing I saw was a room equipped with (fairly new) computers, printers, and projector screen. The whole building had a very sleek and modern feel. The children's room was massive and really colorful-- there are toys and lots of space to read/play. There was a massive magazine room with a large selection. Downstairs there were more computers, along with large fiction and nonfiction sections. The shelves were organized and clearly labeled, which made them super easy to navigate. One of the books I was looking for was listed as in stock but not on the shelf-- when I mentioned this to the librarian during checkout, she checked the returns for me, and found it. Really impressed with this library. Wish it wasn't so much of a drive for me, because honestly, I'd be here all the time. What a great resource.

The Manlius Library has all the stuff you'd expect at a library, and a tremendously nice staff. The attached cafe is nice and unpretentious, and staffed by volunteers. You can access any resource from any of the public libraries in the county, http://www.onlib.org/ , and this makes a vast pool of materiels that are available for borrowing. Request what you want online, and it will be delivered to the branch of your choice, and an email will inform you that it is in!

Great learning experience. Cornell has provided very informative faculty so you can ask as many questions as you want. They also have a huge collection of Lincoln & Gettysburg information, artwork, photographs, and memorabilia, including an original copy of the Gettysburg Address. I think that the other 4 copies are all owned by government, so it's pretty cool that Cornell has one. Olin Library in general is pretty cool. I really like the group meeting areas and Olin cafe. The rare book exhibits are must-sees though. Go now!
