A friend of mine was waked there recently and we had several incidents that really made people upset. The reaction of the funeral parlor managers just further enraged many of us. First incident was one of the managers took a phone call in the middle of the lobby where everyone was standing. He proceeded to talk loudly, conducting business. He finally went into an office but kept the door open, letting everyone hear him. Someone finally went and closed the door. When the other manager was approached and told this was not appropriate, he responded by saying "we need our cell phones on". What? Terrible. Second incident was worse and more appauling. There was a memorial service (no burial was occurring). At the service it was open to the group say any last words. No one spoke but it was supposed to be allowed for as much time as needed. So, the reverend ended and people went to pay respects. Some stood, some knelt briefly to say a prayer, etc. Not more than 10 or 15 people had paid their respects when one of the managers stated to the crowd "please do not kneel, we need to expedite the process here". The jaws of almost everyone dropped and people got angry. Someone went up to the man and he didn't apologize. The manager was sought out and was a little more compassionate. However, this is inexcusable language and treatment of people grieving the loss of a loved one. I still can't believe how this funeral parlor handles themselves. It was not like there was a time problem or people were taking too long They made people feel like we had to rush out so the next body could be brought in. I would not recommend this funeral parlor. There are enough others that are more professional and compassionate that you don't need to do business with the likes of the Sullivans.
