And the lady stood up quickly and said no you can't, someone could be getting an X-ray and because of covid, somehow concerned with a mask as a chin strap, I replied politely and said "oh ok, I've always been able to go back with them at their other dentist, I'm sorry" (also no signs posted anywhere that says limited people or no one can assist their minor). She peeked her head around the corner and said you can always find another place to go....I was like "wow, ok". She proceeded to check on my daughter for me and then told the staff in the back that she told me I could find another place, I hear another lady say well that's our policy, all of this while standing over my daughter getting a filling, just completely unprofessional. 5 minutes later my daughter comes out and she says "you're done", no update from the dr., I never even saw him one time with two children there. Blows my mind how rude people can be!

I have been trying to get in to Aspen Dental as a new patient since around the beginning of May. I…read morealso told them when I was scheduling the appointment one of my teeth had cracked and was hurting. My husband uses them so I was confident that they took our dental insurance. The first 3 appointments were rescheduled the morning of the appointment for the following week, with the reason being they were short staffed. The last appointment they called to reschedule yet again, the morning of the appointment, with the reason, again, they were short staffed. By now the tooth had broken and I related this information to the receptionist. She rescheduled me for 2 weeks out which was this morning. (I have been trying to find another dentist by now, but the insurance we have makes it difficult.) I got a call from Aspen Dental Friday to confirm my appointment, that there were no issues, I would be seen as scheduled, they just needed to go over details to make sure we were all on the same page. I get there this morning only to be told that unfortunately, they don't take our insurance after all, sorry. I have extreme dental anxiety, so just getting myself to the dentist is a difficult experience. They promised the moon and stars when I was making the appointment, but that was as far as it all went. I will tell everyone that if you are looking for a new dentist to look everywhere else instead of Aspen Dental on Kickapoo in Shawnee.

I went to Dr.Sheets over 2 weeks ago and I'm pretty happy with my experience. If I remember…read morecorrectly the visit was free and the X-ray was $35. The office is small, but it is cozy due to it being built and ran out of a house for his business. The staff was very nice and understanding. I went in for a tooth extraction because I don't have the money to see dentists normally, but it got to the point where I needed to. The wait in the waiting room was short. Once I got my paperwork done I had pretty much been called to a room. A nurse took an X-ray of the tooth that was bad and only that tooth. I sat and waited for the doctor looking at some vintage dentistry tools in a case in the corner of the room which 40s-60s music played in the background. He came in and greeted me nicely. Asked me all the questions he needed and explained that my tooth couldn't be saved then asked my preference as to what I wanted to do. I told him I wanted it out and he started getting me prepped. A nurse came in to assist and unfortunately my tooth was being painful, but even through not being numb all the way Dr.Sheets was kind and understanding giving me some time to think and do what was best for me. I went ahead and got it pulled. It did hurt, but there was nothing he could do. My nerve just wouldn't go numb and he had already pumped me full of numbing solution, but after it was out he told me I did well and that he was proud of me which is nice hearing from a doctor when something is painful. The nurse explained to me what I could and couldn't do for a while then I was out. I didn't have insurance so I paid $183 for the whole thing which isn't bad considering most places will charge anywhere from $100-300 just to have it pulled not counting X-ray, visit, meds, all of it so I was very happy with that. Another thing I noticed while being there is he'd whistle to the music playing in the background which is just a nice touch. I think the one thing that I have an issue with is that I've been trying to call his office to schedule an appointment for my boyfriend and I haven't been able to get anyone to answer so hopefully soon I'll be able to get someone and have them help my boyfriend like they helped me.
