Bob was easy to communicate with and answered all of our questions promptly. We booked the Metropolis band, and we were blown away. Metropolis consists of some of the most talented musicians and masters at their craft. - they are rockstars and threw us the party of a lifetime! During the reception, the band kept everyone on their feet all night! Every member of Metropolis has incredible talent. They performed every song, including our requested songs with energy and passion. We loved that they interacted with the crowd and they truly seemed like they were enjoying every minute of it. We loved their plan for the flow of the evening, which maximized the time on the dance floor - we've attended other weddings where this was not the case, and it was very noticeable! So many of our guests raved about how good the band was, and have asked for their information to recommend them for future weddings - everyone enjoyed themselves so much and all of our guests were out on the dance floor all night. Our guests were raving about the band for days after our wedding and we definitely recommend them to anyone. We truly did not want the night to end, just so we could continue dancing and partying with Metropolis. We also had live music through Faze 4 for our ceremony (violin & keyboard) and cocktail hour (sax & keyboard.) And we were absolutely thrilled! And a bad band can make things go sour pretty quickly as well. Fortunately for the wedding I attended this weekend, Scott Yanney Band (which apparently is one of the featured bands of Faze 4 entertainment) is one of the good ones. They had everyone on the dance floor within seconds (then again, they had a fun crowd to work with- my new family!) and we didn't stop shaking our booties all night long. I've got the blisters on my feet to prove it!

Beside the fact that there isn't a conductor, what also impressed me was that the violins changed seating for each piece they performed. That just goes to show you that the musicians are equally talented. They started with a commissioned piece with a small ensemble and I was blown away by how much sound they produced. They sounded louder than some full orchestras I've heard. They ended with Mendelssohn's Italian symphony, which was just lovely and painted pictures in my mind of bustling Italian cities and the countryside.

At one point, I was talking to someone and some other guy showed up then whisked the person I was talking to away (who never came back to continue the conversation, by the way). I'm pretty sure it wasn't some "you're annoying and obnoxious" thing since I hadn't exchanged many words with him, I looked as cute as I normally do and this other guy wasn't there when this first guy approached me. I'm also conservative moderate to apolitical and it felt like if you didn't play in the leftist sandbox, you'd also not be welcome (more a vibe than a direct experience) but that didn't feel like how you should treat someone you've contacted to see about being on your board or who has the background I have. You never know who's going to show up to things or who knows who. There are plenty of other cultural organizations and venues I've gone to where I was treated far more warmly and where it didn't feel like some exclusive club. The stars are for the venue itself being very nice and the exhibit itself being thought provoking and interesting.

It was based on a lot of Chinese themes but brought in everyday politics through dance. I didn't really see the political reference but it was beautiful. The dancers are very talented. The choreography is brilliant. The theater itself is small. If you go wear light clothing it was quite warm. You will not want to wear a heavy sweater or hat. Definitely worth seeing. The theater looks like it has some interesting performances.

Alegrias on Broadway was performed by The New York Center For Flamenco Performing Arts/Arts Center…read more It's a non-profit organization aimed at fostering Flamenco dance, which is culturally from Spain. The show took place at the Roy Arias Theatre Center in Times Square. The space itself is rather small, and its located on the 6th floor of the building. The room was darkly lit and cramped. There were church groups and other performance right next door. t felt like I was in a school production ambiance wise. That's fine since its a non-profit. The performers themselves were very passionate and seemed to thoroughly enjoy their performance, which was great. There were two guitarists, two female dancers, a male dancer, and a singer. The coordination between all of them were on point. The dancing itself was loud, as the performers always stomped their feet with each movement, much like Greek style dancing I would say. I hope that's not offensive to them. I was a virgin to Flamenco dance so it was a good time. For the performance, I would give them 4.5 stars. They served Spainish tapas, which we were looking forward to. I was pretty disappointed with it though. The portions were on the miniscule side. A $20 plate of assorted tapas including cheese, sausage, olives and bread was the size of a kids meal. I thought it was pretty bad even though I am used to price gouging that occurs in Manhattan. The sangria was very tasty, very weak and the pitcher was filled to the rim with ice. I was disappointed with that too. Go for the performance, but advise you to eat something before you go.
