Awful. My first experience here and 100% the last. I don't…read morenormally write reviews unless my experience has been really good or really bad - this was worse than bad. I had went in two days before I was going on holiday to get semi-permanent eyelash extensions put in. It was the natural set as the guy (manager) had recommended them and said they'd be best for what I was looking for. He was friendly and chatty when I went in so I trusted his opinion and went ahead with it. He had also told me, I quote, "they will last 6 to 8 weeks if you look after them" - mine didn't last more than 24 hours. So as soon as I lay down to get them done, the woman doing them dropped the whole table set and everything on it while hurting her finger in the process. After waiting till her finger was okay, she then took around 10 minutes trying to stick my bottom lashes down because she couldn't do it. Once they were done, there was no difference. She said she put 60 lashes in one eye and honestly it looked like 3 were in. I met my friend after having them done and she asked why my lashes were stuck together and looked separate. That night around 15 lashes came out of the right eye and a few from the other. By morning every single one from the right eye had come out. They are closed on a Sunday so there was nothing I could do. I called them on Monday morning and told the woman what's happened. She apologised and asked if I wanted to come back in and she'll put them back in for me. I was leaving for the airport in an hour so obviously didn't have the time. I told her to let her manager know and I had pictures if he wants to see and that I'd come back in for a refund when I was back from holiday as I was so disappointed. So I went back in when I was back from holiday and the manager was so unbelievably rude. His attitude had completely changed from the first time I was in. I showed him the pictures I had taken and all he kept asking is why I didn't take a picture of my eyes :/ I explained that taking a picture of my eyes wouldn't have shown anything, you can't see properly from a picture. I had also explained that his employee had not asked me to take a picture of my eyes after I explained it to her either. He went on to say, and I quote again, "she is the most experienced staff I have, she does eyelashes all the time" yet she spent 10 minutes trying to stick my bottom lashes down on one eye.. He was incredibly rude, wouldn't let me speak at all and couldn't admit that it was their fault, even after providing evidence. He then took the money out the till (£30) and slammed it on the desk and said "there". My friend that was with me and I were disgusted not only at his attitude but at his awful customer service as well. I have never had such a bad experience in my life and will for sure never be back at this terribly unprofessional shop.

It might be more expensive than most spas and massage centres, but the Medespa in Shawlands offers…read morea relaxing, sophisticated atmosphere and is staffed by polite and professional beauticians. The massages are good- rather on the efficient than luxurious side, but they have a good range of approaches, as well as having excellent cosmetic advisers. The best thing about this spa is the ambiance: soft lighting, discreet rooms, a sense of well-being is immediately conjured upon entry. It is usually easy to book for a session on the same day, and the staff are more than willing to give great advice.

I really like how the Beauty Boutique communicates, they sent me a reminder a few days earlier with everything I needed to know (which is not much, of course, but still a nice feeling to know I was not forgotten). Upon arrival, I had to fill in a short questionnaire about any problems that I may have and then I got the massage from Lynsay, who really did everything that could be done to my back, bringing me back to a normal life in just half an hour. I was so happy with the results that three weeks later I made an appointment for the same massage and a Dermalogica express facial. This is the visit that turned my opinion into a real five star rating. I mentioned in a review earlier that I am allergic to some cosmetic ingredients, but had yet to learn new details about my skin condition. Not only did Lynsay tell me what other specific items to be careful with (which is really such a big help for me after years and years of self patch testing and a hit-and-miss sort of sample hunt), but also she checked each and every product one by one to see whether she can use them on me or not. As soon as I can see what my future schedule looks like, I will book my next appointment!

Two words - amazing eyelashes!…read more I'm not usually one for beauty treatments and such, but I was tempted to try Beauty Boutique and Day Spa when I met them at the Malmaison Belles in the Basement event. The ladies there seemed so friendly and down to earth, and I was offered a discount due to being at the event, so I booked in for eyelash extensions. I am so happy with the result! I'd never had extensions before so wasn't sure what to expect. The therapist, Emma, asked me what sort of look I would like, as she can vary lengths etc depending on what you're after, and while I LOVE the full bhoona big lashes look, I felt that something more subtle would be most appropriate for now. The result is a really natural and polished look. No more gunky mascara! I'm really pleased that this will cut down my morning routine, while still adding a fluttery finishing touch to my face. Emma is so nice, and I felt really comfortable in the salon. It's a lovely place, tucked into a Bath St basement, but it's like a tardis - there's a lot packed in down there. There's the main part of the salon, where eyelashes and nails are done, which is quite nice actually because if there's a few of you, you'd easily be able to chat. Then there's the private rooms, where you can have a comprehensive range of treatments from massage, waxing, and all sort of serious sounding facials. Then there's also the spa area! There is a big jacuzzi, some day beds, and a relaxation lounge. It's ideal for couples or groups who'd like to have some treatments, as well as a relaxing soak and lounge-about afterwards. Apparently they do hen-dos and parties and so on. I was really pleased to be shown about, and the whole place seems lovely. I also really liked the service generally - it seems very efficient. There's an option to book on-line, but however you book, you'll get an email reminder, which is handy, and also a thank you note after you've left - how nice! In terms of price, I think Beauty Boutique and Day Spa are offering a good deal. At time of writing, eyelash extensions are normally £70 with Emma, which sounds like a lot, but compared to other places, that's really quite good. I checked another nearby popular lash place before booking, and they charge £100 for extensions with a 'Master Technician' and then you have to pay £50 for top-ups! That's ridiculous! I think that is really just taking advantage of regular customers who maybe don't want to try anywhere else. With Beauty Boutique and Day Spa, you also get a FREE top-up after 2 weeks, which is excellent. So the way I'm thinking, it's really like £35 per time for the first 2 visits, which is a good price. I'll be interested to see how long my lashes last. I've been given some good advice from Emma about how to look after them, and have already booked in for my top-up treatment. This is one beauty treatment that I could really get used to!

So, if you've booked a cheap break away you can spend your saved pennies in here to get a relaxing massage or a light natural looking spray tan for all you beach bunnies. It's also a good idea for a pick me up with a friend or a last minute gift. As for all the boxes that are ticked: The venue is bright, airy, well lit and very well presented. The staff are polite, pleasant and very good at what they do. The prices, can be slightly more expensive than you might expect but look out for their deals.

Love love love it!…read more After a tragic visit to a nail salon chain in the city centre, I was directed here by a friend. Entering, I found it bright, welcoming and friendly. The place was a-buzz with customers, who all were chatty and lively. When I sheepishly showed my badly done nails to my new nail tech, Fee, (who part owns the shop), she just tutted and said, 'Well, you've come to the right place!' I never felt, for the hour or so I was there, that I had to struggle with conversation. Everything was light and easy, and Fee was gentle and knowledgeable about what she does. In fact, the hour passed so quickly that I didn't even realise it; that's a good sign! And when I left, I felt like I'd made some good friends, rather than that feeling like I'd been through a conveyor belt. It may seem like a jaunt from the city centre, but it's worth it. The prices are great, they'll give you a discount if they can, and you'll find yourself looking forward to your next visit. If you pass up this opportunity, then you're just a fool. You can't get quality beauty like this anywhere else.

As we were up from London for Christmas I phoned straight away to book. This time the technician basically ignored me! She talked to everyone else in the salon but me. After a while I was so shocked I took to looking at my mobile, ceiling etc. I do think that even some of the other technicians felt I was really uncomfortable but said nothing. How easy would it have been to utter a - looking forward to Christmas? Done all your shopping? My nails are good but they will be done just as well elsewhere. A horrible experience!

We initially discussed my current skin care regime and what I wanted to get out of my appointment. This was done in a really relaxed manner and I felt able to admit the cardinal sin - I use face wipes!!! Eek! I popped myself into the facial room, it was just heavenly. Beautiful décor throughout and the bed was extremely comfortable and heated, just bliss! The facial itself was amazing. Jo used a variety of products and techniques during the facial which left my skin feeling so fresh and soft. These included facial massage, lymphatic drainage and use of pressure point techniques which helps in reducing wrinkles and improves blood circulation. Bringing the facial to a close I received a lovely head massage. A few days after the treatment my skin was glowing and I decided to contacted Jo to request a product box. She devised a personalised prescription for my individual skin needs. This included products for an AM and PM regime, to help maintain and improve my current skin. She provided a detailed description of how to use each product; when and how much. I feel I have now turned a corner in my skin care regime and that's all thanks to Jo. I really trust her professional judgement on what products to use, and I now have the confidence (with her guidance) to deviate from the traditional high street brands. I was also surprised that these don't all come with a high price tag. I cannot recommend 33 Dowanhill enough. I had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. When it came to the facial itself we had a discussion about my skin, my main areas of concern, and what products she might use... As the facials are completely bespoke for each individual, there is an option for all products used to be natural - this is particularly useful for those who are trying to avoid all chemicals, for example, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, for those with particularly sensitive skin, or for those with particular health reasons. The facial itself was pure bliss, just over one hour of facial massage, pressure point work, lymphatic drainage and head massage. I didn't want it to end but was looking forward to seeing what the results would be, as I have recently been finding my skin very dehydrated, and have noticed my fine lines around my eyes have been much more visible. Immediately after the facial my skin felt amazing, but was a little flushed following the massage. It was the next morning that I really noticed the improvement in the appearance of my skin. My skin was visibly more hydrated and smoother, and I definitely noticed an improvement around my eye area. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Joanna's Signature Facials. Even 1-2 weeks after my facial, I am still noticing an improvement in my skin compared to before my visit to 33 Dowanhill. I don't think I have ever noticed such lasting results following a facial before, and you can't beat the confidence that comes with good skin.

Only had my IPL done here, no other treatment but would recommend it 100% to anyone.I have had an incredibly bad experience with IPL from another salon in which my skin was burned the salon that caused me the harm didn't help whatsoever. A therapist from this salon actually gave me some helpful suggestions to reduce the long term damage to my skin caused by the other salon. Great place.

Going up the stairs to the treatment area was a similar story, there was leaflets and boxes and bottles of water everywhere. i just think they should go along the lines of less is more. the staff seemed friendly enough though. all thought i thought the dog in the reception area was lovely and friendly, do you really want a treatment from someone whos just been stroking a dog?!

Although this is a sensitive and painful operation, I have been delighted with the results- my eyebrows were actually shaped after the treatment, and not just reduced- and the therapists have always been sufficiently sympathetic to make me feel comfortable. It can't be easy coping with a man who is torn between his vanity and shame at the same, especially when they are having hot wax poured over their back, but the therapists was kind and managed to keep up the banter. The price was very good as well. I have also used this saloon for massage: it is the cheapest that I have found in Shawlands, but still effective. It errs on the side of being a pampering rather than a medical treatment- it is either relaxing or energising, with no subtle aromatherapy tricks, but again, the masseuse is professional and sensitive.
