Armando recommended completing the online portion of the course first, which was very affordable and easy to complete. I finished it in one day and enjoyed it so much that I went ahead and completed several of the additional online courses as well. The hands-on training took place at Armando's location in a comfortable one-on-one setting. He has brand-new CPR manikins and an AED simulator, which made the training feel realistic and practical. We practiced CPR and rescue breathing on an adult manikin and then moved on to infant CPR. The equipment provides excellent feedback on compression depth, rhythm, and technique, helping you understand exactly how much pressure and ventilation are needed. Armando is an excellent instructor. He patiently walked me through every step, provided helpful corrections, answered all of my questions, and gave me plenty of time to practice until I felt confident. He is kind, soft-spoken, and creates a welcoming learning environment, especially for anyone who may be nervous or shy. The turnaround time was also impressive. I completed my hands-on training on Thursday, Armando submitted all the required paperwork that same day, and by Friday I already had my certification card. After signing up, I was quickly contacted with information on how to complete my 2 hour online portion of the course prior to my 1 hour in-person portion. The online course was straight forward and thorough. The in-person portion with Derek was fun. He was clear and concise and very knowledgable. Math has always been his favorite subject, so I wanted to find something that would challenge him and nurture that passion. From the first visit, he loved it. He actually love the center more than his math class at school. The atmosphere is welcoming and positive, and the tutors are incredibly patient and kind. They know how to make learning fun while still keeping it structured and challenging. That balance is so important at this age. What I really appreciate is how they start with a placement test and create a customized learning plan. It's not random worksheets; it's intentional. They truly map out how to strengthen foundations and build confidence step by step. We signed up for two sessions a week, but they gave us extra 1 sessions (optional to join) but my son asked to go three times because he enjoys it that much. To me, that says everything. If your child loves math or even struggles with it, I highly recommend checking them out. Our child did worse here and then EGCS illegally and forcefully dismissed our child from this school. Ca Ed code states "A charter school shall not encourage a pupil currently attending the charter school to disenroll from the charter school or transfer to another school for any reason except for suspension or expulsion". They also ignore 504 plans so don't think that will aid your child's success with this administration at this school. Horrible experience for our child!

We are not heritage Chinese speakers, but our daughter goes to a Mandarin immersion public school…read moreand we wanted to find a weekend class she could take to: 1) Get exposure to other Chinese speakers besides her teacher and 2) Get her more comfortable with hearing and learning the language. I found CCCS online - it's held at the Will C Wood Middle School on Saturday mornings. Our daughter takes both Kung Fu and their Kindergarten level Chinese class. The school is almost completely filled with families who speak Chinese, and teaches Mandarin using Simplified characters. It's not high pressure, and our 6yo loved her class - it was Pinyin only for the first year and there was no weekly homework (which I think might change as she gets to the older classes). She did learn to memorize some old Chinese poems, which ended up winning her a trophy at a city-wide Chinese competition in Rocklin (!). Her teacher is very encouraging and sweet and her Kung Fu teachers are strict but good. My only slight issue is that they use WeChat to communicate a lot of school events, and I believe most announcements are in Chinese, which makes it a bit difficult for non-heritage speakers. However, all important announcements (school closures, etc) were sent via email in both Chinese and English, so we didn't miss anything too important. We'll definitely be back next school year.
