Recently, I have been shopping at the 120 31st Ave E., Puyallup store and have been very impressed with the cleanliness of the store, stocked and organized shelves and helpful staff ( I have interacted with quite a few of staff members and they have all been helpful and knowledgeable). I didn't realize just how great this store was until I had to run into a competitor store near our home. Wow, it was like night and day, the PetSmart Puyallup store on 31st street was far superior to the other big box competitor in all areas!! I also enrolled my puppy in the 6 week puppy training classes and our instructor has been very informative and helpful. My puppy had her first puppy trim with Ryleigh in the grooming salon and she did a great job! I also took advantage of the free puppy play date that they offer and it was a good experience for my puppy and the staff were great, and she even came home with a swag bag. Very impressed with this store and highly recommend it. read more

We took our dog to boarding at the Pets Hotel at the Petsmart in Puyallup. We had taken him there one other time. We thought our dog was well taken care of until less than 24 hours after we got him back, he began to show sign of foot/leg injury to the point of not even being able to put weight on it. Took him the vet to learn he suffered a major trauma to his back left paw/toe. It was incredibly swollen and red. After 2 vet visits later, this injury occurred at their facility. The manager said there was no documentation of an injury and they did not take responsibility for It. And my poor dog is still on medication and in a cone. it's been horrible. Do not board your dogs there. read more

Very unorganized we had an appointment and there were people standing around. No room. People were trying to pick up their dogs. We didn't have his rabies info. She assumed it was under my name when it was under my son's name. If she didn't have four people waiting for her, she would've had time to ask me, but it was very hurried and my son was with me and Momo our little seven month Shitzu, who doesn't really require a rabies until he's a year he doesn't go around other dogs and he's not around other people and we left. I had my dog groomed at the pet salon. I specifically told them not to use clippers on his face, just trim around his eyes. They cut his snout so close to the skin that he was sore and bleeding when I got him. He was supposed to get a sanitary cut and I don't even know what they did, but he was all choppy and irritated in the back, definitely not a good cut, he looked awful, his ear was also cut so bad that he has a giant sore under his ear flap. Not to mention my other dog got a bath and brush and did not look clean or brushed. She was still wet. Horrible read more

If I could, I'd give ZERO stars!!!!!!!!!!! This is the second time that I took my puppy to get groomed at 120 31st Ave SE, Puyallup, WA 98374, and it so happen to be the same groomer, Alex. This time, I got a call 1.5 hours (USUALLY 2-3 HIS PREVIOUSLY) later that my baby was all done. I showed up, paid, and went to pick up my puppy, snowball. He was still VERY WET, NO SANITARY CUT OR OTHER SERVICE (another groomer noticed and did the cut very quickly on another dog's hair still on the table; I WAS COVERED IN DOG HAIR--MY DOG WASN'T CLEANED OFF AFTER THE CUT). Yes, I was asked if he looked okay. I was NOT going to leave my dog after the crappy service, for the SECOND time, for y'all to take him for more hours to do NOTHING AGAIN, NO THANKS!!!! $38 for JUST a wash, and he wasn't even clean!!!! There was still stuff stuck to his hair after I took him home and inspected more closely. Did he even get ANY sanitary cleaning??!!!!!!!??? Last time, with Alex, I got EXTRA things (nail grinding, teeth cleaning, upgrade shampoo, etc) totaling well OVER $60 one month before. My dog's nails were JUST AS SHARP as a regular bath and brush!!!!! And he smelled WORST than how I took him in; he was supposed to get upgraded shampoo!!! NOTHING done!!! NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN!!! Came in to have our dog bathed and brushed over the weekend. Staff informed us that pickup would be about an hour. When we returned to pick our pup, we were informed that it would be another two hours and that bath and brush usually takes about three hours. Who the hell takes THREE HOURS to bathe and brush a corgi? When we finally got him home later that evening he was yelping because the staff trimmed a couple of his nails too short. The greatest gift received though was the serious flea infestation our dog brought home from the store. They must have bathed him in flea pheromones. Wouldn't recommend this service to anyone. UPDATE: Post Re-Bathing our dog, it was discovered that the pet smart staff left soap in his coat. We discovered this when he began to turn sudsy when we initially wet him down. Pet Smart was nice to take my dogs for a quick appointment. However, I'm very disappointed in groomer, Sierra. When she brought out my goldendoodle I inquired of she had been brushed out. Honestly, she looked like she was just brought in and no bath had been done to her. Sierra's response was that she didn't want to take out the curls. That's BS. I've seen enough grooming to know what a great job is and this one wasn't. Reiko is still tangled and mangled. Further, upon checking Reiko again, WE FIND OUT HER EARS HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED. Sierra, the tip you got was mediocre, and I really shouldn't have given you anything but I felt sorry for you. The tip would have been triple that had a great job been done in Reiko and Sachi. Groomer explained what they were able to do, due 2 her hyperness from all the dogs getting groomed @ once & alot of pup activity. They were nice & professional & welcoming even if ur pup isn't well behaved or expensively trained. They showed love towards the dog and even put her in a gorgeous girl scarf I like that they all actually look and act like they enjoy their jobs. I have been 2 some places that dnt connect with ur dog or try 2 get 2 kno ur dog & help with the grooming process so it's not a stressful ordeal. This review has to do with the grooming salon only, unsure of the rest of the business. Last week we made an appointment for our golden retriever, we needed a trim and wash and de-shed treatment. He is a very calm and docile dog. We made the appointment for 11:30, so ideally drop him off, do a little shopping and pick him up shortly after, as we live in Milton and didn't really want to drive all the way back. We where told it would take 3-4 hours. What is the point of making an appointment when they are going to do it first come first serve anyways? We did not want him in a kennel, but that is where they put him until it was his turn. At 3:00 we called to see when he would be done cause we ran out of stuff to do while waiting and we where told that he had been ready, so no one bothered to call and inform us. We got there and the grooming tech immediately criticized our emergency grooming we did a couple weeks ago saying "let us do our job" and made my Fiancé cry when we got back to the car. They also left his neck completely untouched. $126 is a fairly high price and the whole experience was not okay. I would highly recommend going to a small family owned local grooming salon, save yourself some time, money, and don't get criticized by the unprofessional staff. On a Sunday afternoon crowded with customers, there was only one sales associate on the floor for the entire store. I asked the cashier if any one else was available, and she replied that there were only three workers in the store: two cashiers and one on the store. I had about $200 worth of merchandise, and I had more to get. The second time I had to wait ten minutes to ask a question while excited children had the floor associate pick the specific fish they wanted (I don't begrudge them at all- just the staff shortage), I decided that enough was enough, I put the items back on the shelves, left the store frustrated and headed over to Petco. The three staff. Embers were friendly, professional, and as helpful as time allotted. This is a management issue. If management doesn't care for it's staff or customers and things this treatment of customers is ok, and don't even come down to the store and lend a hard, I can only assume that is with this apathetic management style, I can only wonder how this managerial ethos negatively impacts the animal they sell. read more

I really wish I would have read the reviews regarding the salon beforehand. I booked my terrier an appointment at the grooming salon at this location for today. Check in was easy and they told my husband it would be 3-4 hours. Okay, cool as she was getting the works (bath, groom, teeth cleaning, nails cut, etc). My husband went to pick her up after 4.5 hours (still no phone call) and they initially told him that our dog Roxy hadn't even been started yet and it would be another 3-4 hours. They were then able to figure out that they have 2 Roxy's in the salon (both black terriers) and our Roxy was almost done. They told my husband 20 minutes to finish her up. An hour later, still no phone call. Meanwhile my husband is just sitting out in his vehicle waiting. I called the salon and again, they couldn't figure out what Roxy I was talking about. After 5 minutes they asked for the last name (seriously, 5 minutes. Why was this not asked first?) . They finally informed me that Roxy was ready to be picked up. It took them 5.5 hours to groom a 19 pound terrier. There was no apology or explanation for the extended time. When she got home, there was nothing special about the grooming. They didn't even put her in a bandana, she didn't smell pretty, etc. The price of the grooming was not appropriate to the grooming she received. I do not recommend. read more

I have been a loyal customer for almost 15 years at the Puyallup Petsmart. After the way I was treated in the grooming salon, I won't be going back. The turnover the past 6-12 months is ridiculous. I was treated rudely by three groomers, just to do a nail trim. I had called ahead because I was traveling an hr to get there to make sure they are truly taking walk-ins. When I got there, I was told rudely that I'd have to wait two hours. They showed no concern at all. I have been going to the grooming salon and doggy daycare for almost 15 years, I have known many staff for years. That has all changed and it's a shame. Fortunately, we found our favorite groomer, Bri. She has been good with all my dogs over the years, I can't imagine taking him anywhere else! If you are looking for Brianna she's at All Access Doggy Daycare and More in Spanaway. My dog was so excited when he heard her voice and then when he finally saw her, it was awesome! I purchased 2 bags of dog food online for in store pickup with petsmart gift cards. When I got there they only had 1 of the 2 bags because they were out of the second tour of food. I was told I was not charged for it but when I tried to use my gift card the funds were gone. I asked for help in the store from the clerk who said she couldn't really do anything and to contact the customer service line without even giving me the number. It seemed like I was bothering her because I wanted help in fixing this issue. I contacted customer service via email and they told me to contact the store and now I am caught in a loop and out over $60. Don't go to this store! This is a post about my experience a couple of months ago at the doggie day camp. Sorry about the story . This was over the course of a couple of visits and needs context. Thought I would let this cool off a bit but still upset. I work long hours and don't have time to let my pup go potty in the middle of the day. Thought a day camp that she could play with friends would make her happy, and she has been to a different petsmart since she was 4 months old. I am not consistent with my days. I will be dropping her off and make reservations for my work days and even informing them to cancel them after 10am since I won't be in after that time, I also ask what they do with toys particularly balls since my bordercollie has a ball obsession and doesn't want to share (not attack the other dog just a whole bunch of posturing and barking still bad behavior) they Said they will take the balls out if she is there that day cause they have other dogs that have similar issues with other toys. Okay all set, I bring my dog in and and she is loving it, I get little pawgress reports and I ask every night how she did cause you know I want to know if my dog is rude so I can work on it (she isn't usually I'm just paranoid crazy yes, rude no) she has been coming about a week and a half and not everyday each time I am told she did great. I was told by her other (issaquah location) petsmart that she was being bad one day, and I took her away for 2 weeks. Come back to this petsmart to drop her off for work to find out suddenly that my dog has been horrible everyday she was dropped off she was toy aggressive she was guarding people, and she hated the other dogs and that if she continues this behavior today she will be an individual. I was surprised by the information I was thrown 30 minutes before I had to go to work. I questioned the whole toy thing, and they told me they do not accommodate that except in certain play times (FYI only 2 of the 8 hours) I was like she has never done the stuff your saying before and they were like well she is now. I did not have time to argue this as I had to leave. I was very upset that they would not talk or call me about this and wait for me to come in next when they didn't know when they would see me and now I have no choice but to leave my dog with these people and hope that she will be fine while I get through a 10 hour shift. I come back afterwards to pay for what I would assume to be a crappie day for my dog only to be told that she did just fine and had no issue all day and I pushed it by saying that the person I spoke to earlier said she was terrible and i needed to know for sure. Needless to say, she will not be coming back to this petsmart again. I don't care if my dog was horrible, if I had been told earlier, I could have worked on a solution, but because of this lack of communication or lies (idk I can't get a straight answer!) Took my dog to get groomed here for the first time and told them explicitly that I did not want him shaved. He's normally a really fluffy dog and he was looking scruffy, so I needed him cleaned and trimmed up where necessary (around the eyes, any matted hair, etc). My dogs love going to the Pets Hotel! Going on vacation can be stressful when trying to decide what to do with your dogs especially when one does not get along with other dogs. The pets hotel staff is welcoming and friendly and has taken great care of my two dogs every time we have gone away! They have options for dogs who are difficult so they can still have a fun experience and you can buy them individual playtimes :) I cannot recommend this place enough! I was charged once leaving my pet and I had specifically told the clerk that I would be paying then and there for my pet because my niece would be picking him up. Once my niece had arrived, they recharged her and she had to pay again, when I specifically told the clerk that I would be paying upfront because someone else would pick him up, it is ridiculous that we paid $160!!!!! For a small 8 lbs shih Tzu, and I haven't received any word from Pet Smart!! To put the cherry on top, they didn't even give me the full package of the Top Dog Plus! They said on there website that my dog would receive a bandana or a bow tie!! This is the first and last time I will ever come to this Pet Smart! I am very disappointed with my experience. read more

---Stay clear of Terry in the grooming department----- THREE DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS I was insulted by the groom supervisor Terry. After 16 years of taking my furbaby here, today's service was subpar to say the least. During drop off I spoke of a couple mats around her ears and belly with my groomer Bri. I just asked they deliver the norm for her Christmas pictures. I even showed a picture. Everything else was fine as we go very short on her belly and longer everywhere else I am told. The groomer calls to tell me my furbaby is ready and informs me she had some trouble with her being elderly. Standing was an issue. She says my dog is no beauty queen but she was able to make her presentable. That comment scared me from the beginning however I stayed calm and understood with age nothing is perfect anymore. Once I picked her up I wasn't sure how to react and definitely didn't want to create a scene as its Christmas time and it was very busy. I just left. My furbaby is a Shih-Tzu and was returned back to me as a shaven Chihuahua with nicks on her body. An hour later I called to express my concern and ask for a credit back due to the complete disaster of the cut we received. Terry took my call and decided to argue with me and tell me the groomer did what she had to do and made up a story about a pre convo with my groomer. She said my dog had mats everywhere and she is 16 so what did I expect? I was in shock, I haven't had to deal with such stupidity in such a long time. She puts me on hold and then proceeds with a condescending voice, "I will gladly refund your money but you need to find another place to go in the future." I had to ask several times if that was what she really said... I was in shock. How does a decent human tell a customer to never return because I brought up a concern that is perfectly valid, a concern your groomer even brought up before I picked up my dog. She proceeded to mock me and concluded with cynical responses. I couldn't believe this. She was incredibly distasteful and degrading. After 16 years of putting up with so many new groomers in and out of this place with endless inconsistencies, I bring up one valid concern and the manager tells me to never return. I escalated the conversation to the Store mngr Naomi, at first she was playing Terry's tune and then after explaining everything she seemed to be in interested in what I had to say. After telling her what happened, Naomi apologized for Terry's behavior. Credit was returned and complaint was noted. We will see if anything was done with Terry's poor customer service, rude example, and disregard to a loyal patron of 16 years. read more

He got off his leash in the store SOMEHOW and ran out of the store onto busy streets! We still have not found him! Then in store when I picked up the correct size, they were unable to automatically refund the online item in the store. You have to wait 3-5 days for refund. Not a smooth process. read more

What I am irritated about is an employee (wish I got her name) was very rude to me on the phone. When I called a girl answers the phone, in the beginning, she's polite. She tells me I need to place you on hold for a quick second. I say ok. Four minutes later, the phone call was transferred and started ringing again to be answered by the same girl who had initially put me on hold. She was short and rude when she picked up the phone, as if my call was the worst thing that could possibly happen. "I felt like saying, customers are the reason you have a job, but I kept my mouth shut as everyone has bad days." Anyways, she says "Petsmart groomers" and I ask to make an appointment for an express wash. She again, tells me in a clipped voice I need to put you on hold. I respond with, you had already put me on hold for four minutes how much longer will it be. She responds, "I don't know but let me put you on hold anyways" Before I could respond I was placed on hold. How unprofessional! I can totally relate to the bad day, but when you work retail, NEVER bite the hand that feeds you! This is for the Petsmart in the sunrise shopping center, Puyallup WA. read more

I found exactly what I was looking for with little to no trouble. Staff is really knowledgeable and friendly, and pointed me in the right direction without incident. Store itself is remarkably clean given the fact there are dogs of every shape and size roaming around the store. They have a "hotel" for dogs and offer grooming on site as well. read more

If I could give the grooming salon 0 stars, I would! I don't ever take the time to write reviews but this was BEYOND infuriating! Our Maltese was dropped off last Saturday for a haircut. What was agreed to was a 7/8 cut which I'm aware is very short and obviously trimming around the face and behind. Long story short a couple of hours later we get a call that we need to go pick him up. Their is an "open wound" on him. This "open wound" is the dog equivalent to a blackhead so when they were shaving down the skin OBVIOUSLY they hit it with their tools (is how I'm assuming it became "open")and because it was an open pore they had to stop because they wanted to avoid any other hair being cut falling on it and causing infection. I understand the safety precautions they need to take. What I do not, will not, cannot understand is WHY THE FLYING F$&! we got a rodent looking dog back. These pictures actually give it the benefit of the doubt, it looked really bad in person. His head was completely disheveled and left long, his tail looks like his stomach....I should never ever EVER have to see the skin of my dogs tail! I didn't agree to have him shaved. I actually insisted on them at least finishing the paws because the hair was left long their too. Not only was this aesthetically disgusting but as soon as we got home my poor dog kept fighting an anxiety attack and breathing heavily, did not eat the rest of the day, and kept whimpering. Despite whatever safety issue came up, what was done to my dog is inexcusable. I can only see the physical manifestation but our vet had already confirmed he had recently undergone something traumatizing to cause this behavior. You shouldn't have to shave down to the pink of the skin and then realize maybe you should stop. If that would have been the true reason to not finish the job or to mistreat him it should have been caught upon initial evaluation when he was dropped off and discussed. Other groomers have worked around it/ provided insightful recommendations/ recommended ointments or medicine but this was it. NEVER EVER GOING BACK. read more

One of the groomers just told me in a rude way that I cannot bring my dog (8 months old puppy)back to get her nail ground cuz that time she was misbehaving. This was our 3rd time here and I've been bringing my yorkie terrier here too. The groomer says it's not worth it that I should take her to the vet and have them sedated while clipping her nails. I'm thinking don't tell what to do. I decide for myself and then she had this smile that's insulting. Really BAD Customer Service! There's a lot of grooming business around.
