Helpful, friendly. The store manager orders our brand of dog and cat food so I can get it all in one place.

Pet's Paradise Grooming Salon and Spa - Margo Rita and me

Pet's Paradise Grooming Salon and Spa

So, it has taken me over a week to process my thoughts about our experience with this groomer…read more First, I'm disappointed that I have absolutely nothing constructive or positive to say. Equally, I am not a fan of writing reviews because I understand the implications and I know that sometimes vendors have a bad day. That being said, I can't fathom what excuse or rationale this groomer could offer to explain the trauma she inflicted on my dog and our family. I have a beautiful full breed Black Russian Terrier that I left in her care. Prior to scheduling, we took our dog to visit to ensure she would be comfortable with him. Particularly, as it relates to his size. She assured us that she was more than able/willing to serve him. For the record, the only reason we needed a new groomer was that his previous groomer was having some medical challenges that prevented her from working with him. Moving forward, we were excited that we found someone so quickly and she was able to receive our dog confidently. On the day of the visit, I told my partner that I did not have a good feeling about the groomer. While our initial greeting was ok, I did not find the groomer to be overly personable or welcoming. Her mother, (I assume), was absolutely pleasant. Recognizing that most are not familiar with this breed, and in an effort to be helpful I brought in a picture of a Black Russian Terrier to illustrate our desired cut. She was none too happy. In fact, she gave the picture back and stated that "she has her own book, references." She proceeded to describe a look and I immediately interrupted to say... that is was not what we like. So again, I explain our expectations. Four hours later, I get the call that my dog is ready for pick up. Like any pet owner, we were excited to be bringing our baby home. My partner picked up the dog. Which was a good thing, because I would have never paid her. Please note that our bill was $200.00 ... So the dog arrives home and immediately I am angry and filled with hurt, disappointment, and sadness. How could a licensed professional groomer do such a botched job. It looked so intentional, random, and definitely showed a lack of mastery. The cut... both of his hind legs were scalped. The inner most part of his hind legs were shaven to down to the skin. Other areas were patchy. She even shaved the area around his private parts. And yes, she shaved the area around his anus in the same way. Certainly, those area should be trimmed for sanitary purposes but shaved down to the skin. NOT! I'm nearly 50yrs old and I've had dogs all my life. Never, have I ever, had any of my male dogs to be groomed in this manner. His underbelly was a complete mess. The areas around his ears and nose were shaved so close. Nothing but visible skin and obvious irritation. She also failed to remove any of the hair in his ears. His skirt still had a few mats. Did she even comb it! ALL OF THIS COST US $200. Unfreaking believable! Is she a lover of dogs? Perhaps, but she clearly showed no mercy towards our beloved. After all of this, she told my partner that he could not come back. YOU REALLY THINK WE WOULD HAVE BROUGHT HIM BACK TO YOU? WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER. We are so baffled. He is a great dog! His previous groomer had no issues. In fact, you would think a dog of his size would be difficult, but he's not. He likes to have baths; he likes to have his coat combed and brushed. What could have possibly happened? IT MAKES NO SENSE! Our dog was so traumatized. His anxiety level was spiked. It took us nearly a week to get him settled down. Talk about devastation. We were saddened that we were unable to protect out doggie. Looking at our fur baby was pure torture. A day later, I took him to see his former groomer and a few other pet specialist. Everyone was immediately shocked! Somberness took over instantly. What happened, it the question that everyone asked. One groomer stated that they were horrified that a "licensed, professional groomer" would be so reckless. They even suggested that he might not have even been given a bath. As evidence of the appearance of residue and the way his coat felt. Remember when I said, his former groomer couldn't see him any longer because of her medical condition. Well after seeing him and shedding tears, she and her husband will be opening their shop on their off day to take care of my dog. They both said he will never have to endure that kind of trauma again. I am so grateful and willing to pay whatever. Shame on Pet Paradise! I hope that you will learn something from this review. And I pray that you will do better and never hurt another dog loving family. You don't know the pain you caused. And, yes, options are on the table!

I volunteer at Wild Woods Rescue. We brought one of our rescue dogs, Joy, here to be spayed, and…read morethe experience was an absolute disaster. Over the phone, they quoted us $230, with optional fees for vaccines and other add-ons. But when we arrived, the price had mysteriously doubled, and we were being charged extra for things that should be included in a standard spay, like pain meds and an IV. When we picked her up, they pushed unnecessary treatments. Despite declining, they still charged us for flea treatment--Joy didn't even have fleas! They also falsely claimed she had worms, trying to sell us dewormer. This was a blatant lie. Joy had already been dewormed and tested negative before the spay, and subsequent testing confirmed she was worm-free. The worst part? A month later, after Joy was adopted into her forever home in Vermont, she went into heat! The clinic failed to spay her correctly, the theory is that they left behind ovarian remnants. This caused issues for her new family and hurt our rescue's reputation since we assured them she was spayed. When we contacted the clinic for a refund or resolution, they flat-out refused to accept responsibility. They wouldn't honor a diagnosis from another vet and instead suggested we bring Joy back for re-examination--despite knowing she was adopted out of state and cannot travel 20 hours back to Alabama. This was their mistake, and yet they're unwilling to make it right without further costs and inconvenience to us. Our rescue is now telling all of our adopters not to go here, and we would just like everyone else to know the problems that we had so that they can make the right decision.
