This review is regarding their grooming facility only. That is the only portion of Pittsburgh I have utilized. My Mother has a 9 year old DLH cat that needed grooming, so was tasked with getting this done. I called around Lafayette and spoke with several facilities (I wrote a harsh review on one of these due to the nasty things the "certified professional groomer" said about other local facilities) regarding setting up an appointment for Spider. The CS at Pittsburgh was helpful, but you do need to begin this process by pulling up their website and filling out their new client form. I booked an appointment a week out. The timing was good for the area. Like most good groomers, they are booked out. On the appointed day, we met with Chloe, our groomer, who was very kind and attentive to my ramblings about an old, "not so friendly cat" and this being Spider's first grooming appointment. Even with an appointment, drop off times are "open", meaning "any time between 7-11a" so I assume pick ups are varied too. We dropped off at 8a and were told she would be done by noon. I needed to get out of town by noon so I called at 11a to see how it was going and was told Spider was ready to go home. Done early. Sweet! We picked her up shortly there after. We again got to meet with our groomer, Chloe, which was a nice "follow up" service. Grooming was reasonably priced at $68 for a bath, brush out, knots cut out and nails trimmed. Spider looked amazing! Please remember to tip your groomer. I am sure Chloe was not paid enough for wrestling with this old obnoxious cat that my Mother so dearly loves. read more

Our dog loves boarding there. Not as expensive as other boarding facilities. The kennels are really large so our doesn't get anxiety. The dog kennel has some beautiful tropical plants growing in the middle. We have used this vet too and never had any problems. Dr. S. caught a malignant tumor before it got to an inoperable stage. read more

My dog has been acting strange and has been experiencing bad joint pain. I called 11/28/2023 at 4:30 pm. Receptionist tried to hang up on me before I had the chance to schedule an appointment. She then told me that my dog had never been seen by veterinary services there and had only ever been seen by the groomers, despite him recently seeing the vet there multiple times and even giving us a prescription for him. I try to correct her but she insisted that my dog had never been a patient and I should take him to his 'regular vet'...despite them being our regular vet. I try to explain what is wrong with my dog, she interrupts me and puts me on hold. She then calls back, says I should really take him to his 'regular vet' because this seems urgent. I try to explain again and she does not believe me. I tell her to at least let us have next week's available slot, and if we get help earlier we will cancel. She argued with me and kept telling me how I should be taking my dog to his vet while begrudgingly making the appointment (that's what I'm trying to do?). She sounded extremely judgmental of me as a pet owner, when all I am trying to do is get care for my dog at HIS VET. because I don't know what's wrong and this is already incredibly upsetting and stressful. He started acting this way shortly after he got grooming and an examination there, I'm not sure if there is a correlation but this recent experience is making me seriously reconsider trusting them with my dogs. Spoke with supervisor, Karen, the next day. Tried to explain the situation, we were told that she's sorry if that's 'how we felt' but there's nothing she can do to 'make me happy' (she kept repeating this btw) and that the receptionist I talked to was their 'best employee on staff' (yikes). She did not believe us at all. No real apology, no accountability. I confronted her on her dismissive behavior, and she kept indignantly repeating that she couldn't 'make me happy' when I just wanted to be heard and get care for my dog. Taking accountability would make me happy, but if that's impossible at Petsburgh, then I at least thank them for making that clear. I am telling everyone I know to avoid this place. read more

We are from Nashville, TN, and assumed we could pick up Prescription ID products at Petsmart like we can in Nashville, and well... we assumed incorrectly. One of our rescue boxer dogs has gastrointestinal issues, and he can only eat ID. In a panic we called around to a few places our friends suggested-- either the place was closed for holidays or they didn't carry ID. Petsburgh was the only place to carry ID and be open! The lady who both answered my harried phone call and who helped me when I got there was so warm and kind and positive and patient and all the things. The vets and staff at Petsburgh did not have to help me/our dog, but they did! 2 years ago my little Yorkie needed a flu shot in order to be groomed at Petsburgh after her shot she was a bit under the weather which seemed to me normal after a vaccination Emma's groomer Trish is fantastic and Emma likes her a lot. This second time of flu shot ( given because it's required to be able to use the grooming part of the business) my little one was vomiting and had diarrhea for a full 4 days. I called the vet there and was told that this was not due to the flu vaccine. research about the flu shots revealed that indeed this are more rare side effects. I was proactive in asking if Emma could be excused from the shot in the future and was met with rather rude answer insisting that Emma's demise was not due to the vaccine and had to be due to something else such as anxiety during grooming which was never an issue due to her groomer. i ask every time ! I am pretty frustrated with this since Emma seemed to like her groomer. this is just sad read more

Petsburgh takes great care of our animals. We use them as veterinarians for our cat and dog. They keep us updated on surgeries which have always gone well (we have had our cats spayed, and our dog's bad teeth pulled and breast cancer tumors removed). Dr Shutes explained to us the current research behind his medical recommendations which was appreciated. They are open for a few hours on weekends if you cannot make an appt during the week for work reasons etc. There is also an associated grooming and boarding facility on site which I have not used before. Overall I highly recommend them for anyone needing quality and compassionate vet care for their fur baby. read more

Dr. Holmes is absolutely professional, patient and supporting. My cat was diagnosed as FeLV positive in 2017 and she constantly provided professional care and emotional support until my cat cleared the virus by his own immune system. Dr. Holmes has done multiple tests for my cat throughout the whole journey and I might not hold myself together without her help. FeLV is not a common disease and it is a miracle that my cat cleared the virus at the end of 2017. But this miracle might not come true if it were not Dr. Holmes and Petsburgh. I stayed in Lafayette area for five years and Petsburgh was the only hospital I took my cat to for four years until I moved to another city. I forever appreciate what Dr. Holmes and Petsburgh has done for me and my cat. read more

I recently moved away from Lafayette, and I hope I can find a vet as good as Petsburgh in my new city. The staff and vets there have cared for my dog and cat for over two years and there's no one I trust more. My dog is a little high maintenance and prone to health issues, but Petsburgh has always made sure she received the best care. I've boarded my dog at Petsburgh Pet Care clinic, Lafayette IN on multiple occasions previously with no difficulties - or so I thought. Today I made an appointment to have my dog looked because he has a lump on his ear. Sometime later the vet called me to say wanted to sedate my dog for the examination. She went on to say they he has a documented history of misbehaving; the records go on to say they have had to sedate him even to bathe and groom him; they also falsely claim that this had all been brought to my attention and discussed with me before. The last claim is an absolute lie. This has never been brought to my attention. Also, I would never give someone permission to dope up my dog just to give him a bath. I now have to wonder if they didn't administer some other treatment without informing me or documenting it in their "records". I have a serious problem with a facility that does what it wants without my permission, then makes false statements that I had been informed. I'm going to look for a more honest boarding / vet service. Integrity isn't something you lose than get back - and these people are just plain liars. read more

So this place is a bit expensive, but they treat my dog like a queen while she is there for boarding. They also have a cam so you can see your dog while you are off on vacation. Most of the staff is quite friendly and helpful. You may encounter some rather useless reception staff from time to time though. Don't say I didn't try to warn you. read more

Best vet clinic in the area by far! All of the vets are very informative and gentle with my anxious dog! After having bad experiences elsewhere, Petsburgh is by far the best! Everyone there always remembers my dog by his name and always seems to be happy to see us. My dog has to have surgery in a few months, and it's nice knowing that he will be in good hands! They're a bit pricier than other places, but it's worth it. You get what you pay for! I've never boarded or groomed here, so I don't know how the service is in those areas. I boarded my very friendly puppy here for a weekend and she came back scared of strangers and had her butt covered in poop. I went back to have my other dog's nail trimmed and the lady who brought her back to me had her paw wrapped. She was very rude to me on her "behavior" when she's just a nervous dog. They made her bleed and made it seem like my fault and said she was going to "charge me extra" next time because of how scared she is. She doesn't bite or claw, just simply afraid of the vet and is on anxiety meds. Would NEVER recommend. read more

This place is A-#1 Great! Our 8 month old puppy had a really bad experience in boarding some where else and I was going make sure the next experience was more than great for her and Petsburg more than provided this.. I found everyone from the receptionist to the caretakers to be friendly and hands on and very loving with your fur kid. They gave me a personal tour of the facilities and answered my questions and more. The place is very clean and even has a large area for indoor play if necessary if the weather does not permit. But what was more important was the care they gave Rizzoli. I did the exact same thing I did on my last boarding experience - interviewed, toured, re-visited unannounced to see how things were, and gave them a list of expectations. The staff I felt was very competent, friendly and answered all my questions. They even complimented me my thoroughness of my list and liked that I was organized and understood our directions or what we wanted for Rizzoli and gave us assurance they would be followed. While away they even texted us a few photos and messages of Rizzoli off lead and I could see she was content. When we picked up Rizzoli, she was of course excited to see us and of course gave us kisses, but she was not bolting and wanting to get out the door, she loved on the staff and after awhile calmed down and even laid down while we talked with the staff. So that right there showed me was content and happy. All her things were clean and they even washed all her bedding and t-shirt so things were returned fresh! The places has many options of items to provide your fur kid - TLC time - just tell them what you want, a biscuit bar with options. Amy D. Overpriced and their staff is horrible. The vets are great and the facility is nice and clean. However, don't be surprised if you have a very long wait in the lobby, are treated rudely, or your appointments are not accurately scheduled. I made the mistake of letting this happen a few times before I moved on to somewhere else. Petsburgh saved the day! While traveling with my diabetic cat, I realized I left his insulin syringes at home. I first checked with Walgreens, but they didn't have the needles appropriate for his insulin dosage. The pharmacist was very helpful, and after making several unsuccessful calls, he found Petsburgh for me. They were wonderful! They had exactly what we needed, and after registering my kitty, provided me with the needles required for Fuzzy's dosage. They also established his file, so if we ever need a vet while in the area again, Petsburgh will be the place! Everyone there was friendly and helpful, and made me feel welcome. Petsburg is by far the best vet clinic in Lafayette! I have a 4 month old yellow lab and he's been going there since he was 8 weeks old. The staff is so friendly and they really show they care about your pet. They are reasonably priced and really take time to answer your questions about your animal. Free samples, too, sometimes! Took my rescue kitten here for issues, was tested for worms three times. She came back negative the first two times, but continued to eat ravenously, same behavior. After months of this and the vet insisting she was fine, I took her in again, testing for the third time for worms. I ended up finding multiple round worms in her stool. Three and a half months, maybe more with my cat having worms. In what world do you not assume a kitten that lived outside it's first month alive doesn't have worms. To top it off, the stool sample is sent elsewhere, and I'm not notified of positive or negative results until nearly a week later. I will be finding a different vet to get care. This place clearly just wants money and doesn't care about the animals. read more

Don't be fooled by the pretty facilities... ...They belie a rude and apathetic staff which does not seem to care about animals--or their people--at all. Do not be fooled by the shiny building and clean, spacious lobby. The receptionists are awful; they are snooty, rude, eye-rolling vet-tech wannabees who think they know everything. Worst of all, they do not actually care about you or your pet, no matter how they may pretend to. To wit: I was a loyal customer for well over 10 years. In that time, I had four dogs and two cats I took to Petsburgh for care. I purchased the full battery of vaccinations and pre-surgery blood-work every time I took my animals in; I even got a dental for my oldest dog. In fact, I even took my friends' animals there for their shots and checkups, giving the place my seal of approval. I will not make that mistake again. One of my dogs somehow got hold of a AA battery and punctured the casing; it was leaking battery acid. I was horrified, so I gave him milk and called Petsburgh. Instead of having a vet talk to me, they gave me the general poison control center number (not even the ASPCA one, which I now know would have at least been helpful). I was on hold for 5 minutes just to find out no one would help me since they only cared about humans. My dog could have died, and my vet just couldn't be bothered. Have had a terrible time with our ragdoll cat Buster. Took him in for grooming and his rabies shots. They gave him a 3 year shot that has totally screwed our cat up. Had to go back in they told us it was a reaction to the shot THEY HAD GIVING HIM but charged us again for all work done $220 more. Then they will not answer calls to their office manger or the owner is on vaction. RIGHT I would never suggest going to this business for anything. All it would have taken was "we are sorry and what can we do to make it right". Oh no the cold shoulder treatment and nothing more. Overall the company is great and treats animals with respect. However this visit was the worst I've had in 5 years the receptionist named Kelsey treats animals like they are scum. They picked a bad apple when they got her, she is going to he bad for business. She was more concerned with talking to other employees about weekend plans verses helping the clients. Very upset! Let me just start off with the vets are great! Love them! Especially Dr Schutz. We have been going here since 2012 or 2013 and have always noticed that the front desk people are mostly rude. We didn't let that bother us because we didn't have to deal with with them very often. But for the past, 3 or 4 times that we have had to go in and actually deal mostly with them they have been so rude. These past times myself or my husband have left there feeling so irritated! This morning I woke up in a good mood got my son off to school and I headed out the door to start my errands. Petsburgh was the first stop on my list. I went in to find out a price of cat food. How do you go into a place to find out a price and leave feeling so mad???? Normally, I don't let stuff like this upset me. If this had been the first incident, I probably wouldn't think twice, thinking maybe the girl was having a bad day...we all have them right? I called shortly after and told the girl I wanted my records so I could go to another vet. She didn't have to look me up because they have caller ID (even tho they NEVER identify themselves on the phone, or wear name tags) she seemed more than happy about it and didn't even bother to ask if there was an issue. I plan on reaching out to manager or maybe even one of the Drs to see if anyone at this facility even cares about customer service! read more
