They even offered to open up a large bag of aquarium gravel so I could purchase the small quantity that I needed. It should also be noted that the plants and wood from their livestock tanks can also be purchased. This is especially useful as I have found it can take a long time to get a dry piece of wood well soaked and free of tannins (or as much as can be)! I'll definitely be going back again.

The pick and mix dog treats and bird food is a good idea as I do not like to buy big packs so prefer choosing my own. They also have livestock in the shop which look healthy and well cared for. The staff are ok but maybe they are more animal lovers than people lovers? I find the prices competitive and I like coming to this shop as it is in the middle of Bitterne so can do other shopping at the same time.

For example there is a large amount of different animal feeds in a pay per scoop system, which is quite good as you can bag up as much as you need yourself. There are also pet toys/treats etc that you can't find in pets at home, and there always seems to be new and innovative things for pets in the shop. The shop used to sell live animals (nothing bigger than rabbits though) and now they don't - i'm not sure for the reason for this but it used to be nice to wander in and have a look at them! The staff are knowledgeable about the products and about animals and they are also very friendly and good to chat to while you buy!

The few they do have would rather flirt with pretty girls than help.A good percentage of the fish are dead, they really should stick with small fluffies, even then they're in poor shape. They've been reported to the RSPCA several times and this is the first time I've seen any sort of improvement. Only went because I needed pet supplies for my Royal Python.
