We went at 1am. So it obviously wasn't very busy but the ladies at the front were very welcoming and got us into a room within 5 minutes of walking in. The nurse on staff assessed my dog and began relaying info to the doctor to begin deducing the diagnosis. A little pricey, but that was the be expected. All in all a good experience. This is the WORST and SLOWEST Pet hospital i've ever been to. My dog got attacked by another dog and was bleeding horribly and shaking and his breathing had slowed down. We sat there for two hours without being seen by anyone. No update, no check in, not anything. Don't bring your pets here. They brought another dog back who wasn't nearly as bad as our dog ( meaning he wasn't bleeding and was sitting up panting). We had to get up and leave to go to another pet hospital just to get some help. The front desk people were beyond rude and weren't helpful at all. read more

Unfortunately, we had an awful experience with this Vet. Our dog dislocated her paw and our vet recommended taking her here. We arrived at 11:30 and departed at 7. We waited 20 minutes for them to bring her out after she was discharged alone. They called around 2:30 and said they had relocated the joint and they were going to do another x-Ray, they didn't call us back for 4 hours. I understand things in the ER get busy, but the lack of communication is incompetency on there part. We won't be returning! read more

I had previously used the PM Emergency center & vet specialists quite a bit for my previous cats- but in September 2022 they were a complete fail in my estimation. I do not think there was even any medical personnel on site when I went- I certainly saw NONE- only saw office staff personnel. And after waiting over 2 hrs - without seeing so much as a vet tech- again saw NO ONE other that front desk/ office personnel standing around chatting. I went back to the front desk to inquire about the timing, & a few minutes later I was told it would be another approximate 3 hrs -minimum- before "anyone was on site to look at my cat". ( it was a beautiful weather day- a Saturday afternoon- the lobby was completely empty & no signs or sounds or indicating others were in perimeter waiting rooms, the parking lot was pretty empty in the customer area as well- and, again,not so much as a vet tech coming to talk to us) - I left. ( I am old with medical conditions of my own that made waiting another 3 hours,besides being absurd, not possible for me-- a 5 + hour wait time does not meet my definition of "emergency care"- maybe that's just me...) When I got in to my regular vet on Monday morning my cats BP was well over excessively high, among other derogative evaluations were received . She received fluids to address some dehydration &, blood work drawn, BP meds were started, etc. but how much could the 2 days delay in treatments cost in the health of my cat is still uncertain. The PM emergency center/ vet specialists was always my after hours go to place for vet care or for selected feline specialists - but probably not ever again. They were always paid the thousands of $$ immediately for the care they provided in the past ( although that was some years ago) but they have really gone down hill since then, so much so I can no longer, in clear conscious, give any recommendations for using them - sadly. Maybe during normal hours the vet specialists are more reliable - idk- since at this regrettable experience it never came up as a possibility. read more

My mom and I were driving from New Jersey to Texas with our cat who had stopped eating, drinking, and going to the bathroom. She was extremely lethargic and had a blackish/pinkish liquid dripping from her mouth. We found this vet close to the hotel we had stopped at for the night. They were extremely friendly and courteous. Although there was a wait, they kept us updated about an emergency that the doctor was attending to. The doctor gave her fluids, an appetite stimulant, and some medication to relax her. Within minutes, she was back to her normal self and eating. They were great! read more

Let me start by saying... I am absolutely obsessed with my dog and I treat her as if she is my child... I rushed my dog to PetMed after seeing she has an extra large lump under her throat that wasn't there before I left for the gym. We arrived right at 6 pm. It was over 45 minutes before we saw the Vet and we were the ONLY ones there. Finally the Vet comes in and takes a look at my dog and takes her back to run some tests. She told me she believed it was Salivary Mucocele and she didn't want to drain it. She said it could possibly give her some respiratory distress and to take her first thing in the morning to her regular Vet. So here I am thinking my poor fur child is going to stop breathing in the middle of the night and didn't sleep a wink... Turns out she was completely wrong and it looks to be a snake bite... $188 for absolutely nothing but a sleepless night... The place itself is beautiful. They did a really great job with the interior... It is also one of the only clinics offering after hours. I obviously will have to go again if its an emergency... but I definitely prefer my Vet and hope to be avoiding this place! read more

Petmed is a place that you never want to visit. It is an after-hours only emergency vet. They open at 6PM, and unless your pet is too sick to go home, they go back to your regular vet by 8AM. If your pet is seriously ill, during the day it's Memphis Veterinary Specialists, the premiere specialist vet in the area. We've had to visit more than once, but they gave our pets great care and more importantly got them well. Everyone there is very nice, and more than once we've run into techs from our regular vet moonlighting at night. Each time we've been there they also have a steady stream of incoming patients, everything from hit by a car to eating something they shouldn't. As you might guess, they aren't cheap, but most of the services are competitively priced with a regular vet. Really it's probably only another $50 over going to a regular vet during the day, the bulk of the bill is due to the condition of your vet, not paying extra for the after-hours service. They recently moved into a new building which is extremely nice, and offers a way better customer facing area than their old space. If you have vet you need to know where they are locate, just in case. read more

I recently had to take one of my dogs to PetMed. He is one of the breeds with the bulging eyes and one of his was out of the socket. There was only one other person there. They are slow in their response to come let you kmow what is going on. They gave us a range of 1400-2100 to treat our pet. We refused treatment, paid for our visit (208) and 12 hours worth of antibiotic and pain meds. We took him to the regular vet the following morning and the surgery and a weeks worth of meds was $442. This clinic is taking advantage of people in distress. If this type of situation arises again I will use the clinic on Summer. I have used them once before and they were reasonable in pricing. They may not have a new building with art on the walls but on Summer I didnt feel like I was paying their mortgage note for them either. read more

I am so thankful for all of you at the hospital. This was our first loss of a pet, and you made everything about it so gentle and caring. I don't think my daughter would have made it through the loss of Girty, without the compassion she was shown from the moment she walked in the door. Thank you again to everyone. Had to write this review as spent 2 visits n couple nites to petvet er,between 2 visits to 2 different day vets.pet vet was outstanding and but waste of money going to day vet. First visit,dr s.mays was exceptional,very understanding,caring. David,at front desk,greeted us both times,very nice caring,young gentleman. Our 18 yr old dog,raider had low sugar problems and couldnt get right levels. Having pains,hard time walkin,not eating much,running into things,confused. We saw dr.amy walsh 2nd visit. She was a the determanating factor that helped my son make the right decision for his best friend of 18yrs. My son did everything imaginable to give raider the best life and promise not to let him hurt. Dr.walsh spent time telling us other factors that seemed to be making him hurt,brain tumor on top of bad diabetes and tumor made him blind,which we didnt no.They could run test but at his age, more things could be worse. She left us alone to talk and said take our time and answered every question we had,softly,caring,compassionatly. This young lady had such grace. It was hard but she let us see the reality best for our precious pet.And this unconditional loving sweet raider deserved no pain ever again. She explained procedure and it went exactly the way she said. We were taken to a quiet room,david brought raider to my son in blanket for us to spend as much time with him,dr.walsh came in,ask if needed more time,told us each step. He didnt cry or hurt anymore,he was at peace. Gave us more time with him and then he became a real angel n heaven. This was absolutely the place for a loved pet that needed final rest for his good long life. This environment,staff,doctors made this unthinkable process one u never want but has to come,a bit easier to handle if possible. Our thoughts of ur sincere kindness is still so fresh n our hearts. VERY Rude night employee... I wish you could just rate employees because I have never been here personally and I'm sure this establishment as a whole doesn't deserve it. But I did have to call for a pet emergency because my dog ate pills she wasn't supposed to. I called three vets that were open 24 hours. 2 in Memphis and one out of state. PetMed was the second I called to get multiple opinions. They refused to give me any kind of help other than the number to call poison control which they said would cost $65. I politely stated "Money isn't an issue if my dogs life is at risk but is there any advice you could give me while we're on the phone" The RUDE LADY responds with "no, but you can bring your dog in which will cost you $96, so you pick" The other two vets I called told me everything they knew after asking as many questions about what my dog ate, her weight, and her breed; and said your dog will be perfectly fine just may have an upset stomach.... I'm very disappointed and my advice would be to just think twice before you listen to one person. Call around. Clearly this lady wasn't doing "her job." And after reading the EMERGENCY night reviews, they CLEARLY just want your money and could give a care less about your animal. I am so thankful for this place and the wonderful people who work here! I had to bring my dog in 2 weeks ago at 10PM for severely low platelets...so low that they found ZERO when doing a manual slide count. I was scared to death, her little body was bruising all over because of it. They took AMAZING care of her! They explained everything that was going on and what I could expect to happen. My cat had UT infection, But we had to wait FIVE HOURS more to get medicine and see vet after the labs were done. The girl who called herself the triage nurse was rude and condescending. Absolutely excellent care. We had a very sick kitty. They took wonderful care of him. The vet explained her concerns and gave us a clear estimate of charges before they started care. Osiris, my cat, was well cared for the entire time he was there. We had to return at midnight a few nights later due to an issue with his IV that our regular vet had left in. They quickly removed it and let us know that the swelling should go down in a few hours and to return if it didn't. For this visit they only charged us for a nurse visit and saved us a bunch of money. PROS - Excellent, professional care. Knowledgeable, caring, competent staff. Estimates that keep you in the know. CONS - None. GOOD TO KNOW - Emergency care can be very expensive, more than your regular vet. PetMed was happy to provide us with a comprehensive estimate. We had to come here unexpectedly one night! My mom's goldendoodle started acting very ill and after her regular vet did blood work and x-rays she told us to immediately go to PetMed ER so the vet specialist, Dr. May, could take a look at everything and do an ultrasound. Long story short, my mom's dog was diagnosed with an aggressive liver tumor and had lost so much blood, internally, from it rupturing. Dr. May was extremely compassionate and didn't make us feel rushed at all! She gave us our options and was honest with us! She said with the age of our doodle and the location of the tumor, her prognosis would poor if we attempted surgery, but it was definitely an option... They are definitely not money hungry because my parents could have easily paid the estimated $3,000-$5,000 for the complex liver tumor removal. We decided to send Echo off into dog heaven! My mom held her the entire time and they let her spend as much time as she wanted before and after she was put to sleep. Echo ended up passing away during the first injection, which is one that puts the dog into a twilight-like sleep before they stop their heart... This let us know she wouldn't have even made it though anesthesia if we had opted to do surgery. They are amazing! read more

Our cat Louie got very sick on News Year's Day. I work at a vet and of course we were closed for the holiday. I was planning on bringing him up to my vet and meeting one of our doctors there to see what was going on. But Louie got very sick and we ended up taking him to petmed, which is where we send people, I was a disaster crying the whole time. He ended up having surgery for an intestinal block. The veternnarians and vet techs here are absouletly wonderful! They took amazing care of Louie and he is back to his normal self now. We ended up paying $2,000. Yes this is high but the after care he got was worth every penny. The doctors called me with updates throughout the night and the next morning. They are amazing here and I am completely cofindent with leaving my animals here for care. read more

We had to take our 13 year old dog Sparky here tonight to be euthanized. Every single person we encountered (Brandi and Dr. Walsh especially) was so nice and gentle with him. They let us stay with him before and after the euthanasia as long as we wanted. They even put him to sleep while my mom was holding him in her arms instead of doing it on some cold metal table. The vet (Dr Walsh) who put him to sleep was very sweet, calm, and gentle during the entire process. She explained the process step-by-step. They acted as if they were truly concerned about us and Sparky instead of acting like we were just more money for them. Of course I hope I never have to but I would bring my other animals here in case of emergency. read more

We rushed our dog, Eddie, to the Petmed Emergency Center after he had been hit by a car, seen by the doctors at Petvax and sent on to Petmed. Eddie was in their care for three days and with their care and treatment, Eddie has made a full recovery from what could have been a fatal accident. I will always be grateful for the way they treated Eddie, for their understanding of our fright and concern and for the way they made sure we were kept informed of Eddie's progress. Let me start by saying I have a fantastic vet who usually will open his office after hours for his patients but on this 1 particular night he was needed, he was away delivering baby cows.i had no choice but to use Pet Med emergency for my sweet puppy who had got knocked in the head by a front end loader of a tractor after he ran under it when no one saw him. The emergency vet charged us $600 for tests that would have cost $200 or less at a regular vet. Then they said it would be at least another $1800 to attempt to save him. Or I should have him put down. Not having the extra money, I had no choice but to put him down, also for another additional fee. I'm certain if my vet had been available, my dog would still be here with me today at a cost that I could have afforded. These people feed off of hurting and distraught pet owners and jack the prices up to some ridiculous amount because the pet owner has no other choice . read more

Sadly we were an emergency case today. Picked up our puppy from a boarding place and I immediately noticed he had a corneal ulcer. Our vet was already closed for the long weekend. We rushed to PetMed, as recommended by our vet, and they were wonderful! Our puppy was crying in pain when they took him back for treatment and came back to us in no pain. The vet was wonderful in making sure he was pain-free and a treatment plan was in place--even making sure our vet received copies of her notes for the follow up appointment. I have a 5 week old puppy who jumped out of my arms when he saw another dog he wanted to play with. After he hit the ground he wouldn't quit crying and was limping. I took him to pet med as they were open on a Sunday morning, and they were fantastic. There was practically not wait, and they treated him as if he was one of their own. The Vet even came and talked to me, and assured me he didn't need to do an x-ray. I know a lot of places would have just to run up the bill. The $87 fee to get seen by the dr is well worth it when you're concerned about your pet. While I hope we never have to go there again, if a need came up this would be my first choice. read more

I spent a long weekend with my eleven-year old hairy child at PetMed. The facility was nice, clean, and inviting. Fortunately his was not as serious of an emergency as some others, but they treated him with as much love and care as they did those with more traumatic issues. The doctors were patient, and willing and able to explain everything so that we understood exactly what was happening. Even with leaving my best friend there overnight, the nurses were always happy to give us a quick status check over the phone when we called. I hope that I never have to return, but if it does happen then I feel confident in the care we will all receive. read more

My senior dog has problems with getting up. This caused his elbows to have "bed sores" One became infected and he ripped it open. My regular vet did great but finally we were sent here. They did surgery to close the wound and poor guy was in a cast for 3 weeks. Cast was from his back to the tips of his toes. The elbow now looks like nothing ever happened. I think took my dog there because she couldn't breathe out of her nose.Staff was friendly, but it took me 45 minutes to see a vet.I paid nearly $200 for the visit and an anabiotic he wasn't SURE the dog needed and was sent to a drugstore to buy her an over the counter human antihistamine. She's still uncomfortable. Pretty sure I will be taking her to my regular vet tomorrow to really find out what's going with her. Check in process was entirely to long. My dog was staying overnight after a surgery at her vet. We sat for more than an hour waiting on the Dr to see us. Our dog was already back in her kennel but we still were made to wait on a Dr to check out. The Dr was dealing with an emergency but no one else could check us out and we waited. No xrays just an opinion. After they were done with the "examination" she was bleeding even more. Than they took her in back to bandage her and kneed her in the side because the door was closing. Petmed by night, MedVet by day. Petmed being the emergency after hours hospital and MedVet being a Specialist clinic with some of the finest doctors I have ever seen. Best care possible. If your dog/pet is in need of a specialist or in need of emergency care this IS the place you want to be. The price for us on more than one occasion has actually been less than what we would have paid our regular vet. Im sure cost depends on condition of your pet. Ive been to other 24 hour emergency clinics and paid much more. Petmed is the place. I would not go anywhere else. I am so thankful they are here. read more

My dog woke up on a Saturday morning unable to turn her neck and in severe pain. My vet is 60+ minutes away and would have probably been closed before I got there. I took Gabby to PetMed and the entire staff was awesome. The DVM explained everything and outlined all the treatment options and the cost before hand. X-rays showed some probably herniated discs but after her first injection she was looking like her old self. It's still going to be a rough few weeks but Thank G-d for Petmed :) read more

This facility and its staff are amazing. I live on the East Coast, but I was traveling in Memphis this past weekend with my 12-week-old puppy when he became ill late at night. I called PetMed and they told me I could bring him in immediately. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly kind and reassuring and made what seemed like a horrible situation much better. They were transparent about everything from their initial assessment of his condition to how long it would take to see the vet on what was a very busy night for them. Most importantly, I could tell they all genuinely cared about my pup, and they made sure he was calm and comfortable. We were in and out in about an hour, and they kept apologizing that it even took that long--I was expecting to be there all night! I left feeling assured that my pup had received the best possible care. I cannot recommend this clinic enough. read more

Our dog had been ill for awhile and we had gone to 2 different vets and received two different diagnoses, neither of which seemed to help much. Over a holiday weekend he became so listless that i felt we had to take him to an emergency facility. I had previously used one of the specialists at the Trinity Creek facility and was most impressed. I was not familiar with any other emergency facilites so we decided to take our dog there. I am sure they are a good facility and i do believe my dog was well cared for during the 1-1/2 days he was there. He did have a serious blood illness - one that is often fatal for dogs. They did the necessary tests fairly quick and DID come up with the right diagnosis - which the other vets had not done. I knew the treatment would be expensive. However - there is expensive - and there is "gouging". The first price we were quoted was for the necessary diagnosis tests. Several hundred dollars but we agreed. The second price quoted was for treatment for 1-1/2 days ( this was a saturday night on a holiday weekend). We were given an estimated range of costs - the lower figure was for everything they told us they would absolutely have to do - the range would ultimately depend on anything else they MIGHT have to do. We were given a pitch that I felt was akin to that of a snake oil saleman - yes my pet was seriously ili and they were all complications that might have happened. But I felt they were delivered in a manner that took advantage of people who were already very scared about what might be happening to their pet so they would agree to the costs. We were told we had to pay up front 50% of the highest possible estimated cost. In our case that was $1200 . the "range" we were given was between $1500 - $2400. Our dog was there from Saturday night until early Monday morning.During that time we were kept well informed. Each doctor would call at the end of their shift to give us an update. Ultimately our dog did not need any of the extra services that we were told might be necessary ( which included the possibility of a blood transfusion). So I at least felt confident that when my spouse went to pick him up the bill would be the lowest amount of the range we were given. But we were actually charged an additional $750 at the time of pickup - with no explanation or documentation for why. Later it occurred to me it was probably the cost of the hospital stay plus the original price quoted for diagnostics. However, you are definitely led to believe that is included in your total estimate. My spouse didnt realize that i had not been given a complete rundown so paid the additional money. I then called the facility and was sent an invoice with a breakdown of services. Line after line of charges- some made sense, some didn't. Of course there is absolutely no way to prove what was done and not done but no matter - the prices were way out of line.I was amazed to see things like $41.00 to take blood pressure???? Which of course was taken numerous times - and charged for each time. Really? Those "nice" phone calls the doctors made at the end of each shift - which probably lasted for 2-3 minute were each done at a very hefty charge. You are also told that if you don't pick your dog up by 7Am on Monday morning - when it stops being an emergency facilty and just becomes a regular veterinary office that your pet will be "transferred" to one of the regular vets and you will automatically be charged a $500 transfer fee! I know this is an emergency service and I expected to pay for that. But i really feel this was so exorbitant that these people are truly taking advantage of pet owners when they are scared and vulnerable. We have sinced talked to several people ( including area veterinarians) and have been told they are several other facilites in the area that offer the same quality service but are much more reasonable in their costs. i wish I had know that before. I hope I never need this type of service again but if I do , I will be more prepared on possible options. If you are a pet owner I would recommend you become familiar with what services are around you before you it might be needed and I hope it is never needed! read more
