This is about as old-fashioned a clothing shop as you could imagine, but it fills a vital niche and does it brilliantly. From its outdoor signage, to the wooden counter, to the cash-register and the hand-written receipts you could be stepping into shops from days of old, and yet Petites Modes is, on occasion, packed to the rafters with shoppers attempting to kit-out their youngsters in school uniforms, club uniforms (brownies, Cubs, scouts and all such affiliated organisations). They also cater for more formal childrenswear such as christening and confirmation attire.
Don't be fooled by the rather formal and (dare I say) stuffy window displays. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and provide a personal service to each and every customer. They cater for all schools in the local area, primary level upwards. I doubt that this will become a regular haunt for many people, but for the twice-a-year school uniform shop, this place is really a one-stop-shop. Highly recommended. read more
