Overlooking the canal on historic fish market square (Fischmarkt), with it's 1500-1700's architecture in Stade's Hansehafen, this French cafe/bistro/wine bar was the perfect stop for a lunchtime break from sight-seeing. Three large tables with bench seats and throw pillows in front with picture windows are augmented by 2-tops in the back. Even more outdoor seating of 4-person umbrella tables is located across the narrow cobblestone street directly overlooking the canal.
We enjoyed croissants, a large piece of coconut streuselkuchen from a variety of cakes on display, coffee crema, iced latte and mint and ginger tea. We couldn't help but notice also the beautiful array of fresh cheesecakes in their dedicated display case. The pastries were so fresh and delicious! A good selection of sandwiches were available but we opted for some light carbs, though one in our party of four had the soup of the day, a vegan Mediterranean tomato soup. It was served with bread, and she said it was delicious!
Service was lovely.
