If you are looking for a good quality haircut, this shop wouldn't suit nowadays. After years of going to this location, I finally opted elsewhere. This is a bit unfortunate given the long history of this shop. read more

Late night haircut at 8 pm , greeted by the barbers as if I was a regular. Not my first time there but it had been a good 20 years since my last haircut there with Lefty . Great haircut and can't beat the $17 price . Just an old regular barber shop with no thrills just good vibes and professional old barbers. Will definitely be back in a few weeks! read more

second time here. First was decent. Came again and used the same lady. Veryyyyyy sub par. Told her clear what I wanted (IM NOT A DIFFICULT HAIR GUY JUST WANT A CLEAN CUT) and she messed up bad. Then tries to convince me it's good (it has very choppy lines and took wayyyyy too much off top. As she's trying to convince me that is good she tries to ask if I want it shorter......... SHE ALREADY TOOK TOO MUCH OFF, any shorter and it'd be a crew cut which I'm sure would look worse woth her skills. Not sure if she's licensed but I will definitely be calling the state. I'm sure some others there are good but def avoid the women there. Very dissatisfied and I paid and left. The other barbers were watching it unfold and should have stepped in to rectify the situation. I am going to another place now (i just got the cut) to see if they clean it up read more

I was excited to try out Petes because of the great reviews and because they have been around for such a long time. I assumed that this meant i would be receiving a great cut, boy was i wrong. I don't like to bad mouth a business but this was by far the worst haircut i've ever received. I'm including the time i got in trouble in 5th grade and my dad decided to give me a "custom haircut" the day before picture day. I was literally in the chair for less than 8 minutes (love that iPhone puts a time stamp on text messages) i'm not going to put the barber out there but he really needs to up his game. I asked for a 3 on top and skin fade on the bottom, I was told that the lowest his clippers went was a 1 but he would try make it work. I'll let you decide on the final outcome. See the attached pictures in this post. The fade line is crooked, the hair is uneven in length it was just horrendous. This is a review thats long overdue. I walked out of the shop and went to another local barber to attempt the fix (review coming later) and they didn't do a much better job. What a bad day lol. Pros: 1. Friendly atmosphere and staff 2. Has a nice old school feeling to it 3. Received fast service as a walk in 4. Kid friendly Cons: 1. Easily the worst haircut i've ever received. 2. Shop location is actually pretty easy to miss, had to search for a bit. 3. At $17 they are not competitively priced, and the quality of the cut doesn't warrant the price. 4. Received WAY TOO FAST service read more

Pete's Suniland Barber Shop - Very disappointed with my haircut, Pete's you failed me. Pic 1 - Barbers Near Me - Pinecrest, Florida

See all

My haircuts are pretty simple. There's no need for a fancy salon to get a buzz cut (or "pelao de malanga" in Spanish). I was in the Old Cutler area today getting my smoothie fix at Wayside and decided to get my hair cut in the same general area. Am I glad I did! I "found" Pete's online, and I mean it when I put found in quotes. It is truly a hidden gem, as it is tucked away into a corner of the shopping center catty-corner to the Starbucks. (A far cry from my conversation with my barber, Charlie, who said that back in the days they had a neon sign that could be seen at all hours from US1.) The inside is like a step back in time when the area was called Suniland. They have about 10 - 12 barber chairs, and I'm guessing the manicure station is a recent add-on. The shop further keeps its small town feel with the kiddie play area in the center as well as the political chatter with the barbers. It appears to be cash only, with your cut rang up on a classic cash register. They also have an old style wall telephone. Haircuts are now 15 dollars, but its great to support a local business. I think I found a new hair place! read more

I love getting my haircut here. It reminds me of an old fashion barber. Nothing fancy just great haircuts.

Yes, this is a men's barber shop. But my daughter, when she comes of age, will have her first haircut here. It is the same place her father had his first haircut, 30 some years ago. It is simply an institution in the Sunniland neighborhood. And it looks it too. It looks clasic. It's nice to know that some things never change. (Although sadly, they don't fill a sink up with ice & beer on Friday afternoons anymore.) Ahh, the old days. read more

Been getting my hair cut at Pete's ever since I moved down here about 4 years ago, I just stumbled upon it when walking around the Suniland Shopping Center since it was in the area where I was living. I always go early Saturday morning to see my man Niles. He always gets you in and out quickly! The price for a haircut is $15. read more

We are creating a phone app for barbers (BBB). This app is to make appointments with your barber directly from your phone. No more need to call the shop. Just see when he's available and book the barber. DONE We want to know if you would download the app and recommend it to your barber. read more

First time in I got Niles, got a good haircut (3 on sides, scissors on top). I came back a few weeks later, got a different guy and a decent cut. I went back again last week, got a guy who apparently doesn't speak English and a cut I almost had to shave (because he cut it so short on top). Each time I asked for the same thing and already had the general shape there for guidance. For $17 at a no frills place I'd expect it to be better. I'd rather have my hair washed at a salon if I'm going to be risking bad cuts and paying $20 anyways. read more

Absolutely great haircut from a barber! The traditional crew is great. They've been there since before I started going in 2000. I'll miss Lefty though! read more

Love this place, old time traditional barber shop for men not found nowadays. Kudos to Deg McCracken for taking care of this LSU fan for the past few years! Current price for cut and straight razor neck shave is $17 and tv sets have now been upgraded to HD, but the place remains the same. Awesome place! read more

The best..... My son has been going there for years. Great staff and always a good cut.

Great job by Terry at Pete's Barber shop. With the recent closures of Hair cuttery, I had no place to go for a haircut. Luckily I found Pete's. Terry was great with regards to keeping it COVID-19 friendly. Area was thoroughly cleaned before haircut and actual haircut went great as well. Keep up the good work! read more

I have been getting my hair cut here for about 7 years now, by the same guy every time. It's really just an plain old fashion barber shop. $12 for a haircut, and I'm not sure about the other services the offer. The only thing that has really changed is they don't put out playboys for while your waiting anymore. read more

A Pinecrest tradition. Pete's always has and always will give the best cuts out there! I've been coming here since I was 5, and to this day rely on any of the barbers at Pete's for a good cut. read more

This a real old school barber shop - nothing fancy, just an old fashioned haircut. I am sure Pete has passed away though as he first cut my hair 40 years ago! read more

Went in for a hot towel shave for my face and head. Had the pleasure of having Armando provide the service. It is a great barbershop. Very traditional and not your modern day barbershop with game consoles and the like. Great atmosphere & great conversations. If you are in the neighborhood, hell if you are like me from Pembroke Pines, take a trip and see Armando. Well worth it. read more

I've been coming here for 28 years and have never had a bad thing to say about the place. Bringing my son in soon for hist first haircut and would recommend this for any kid, man and some women looking for a good cut. Best of all, it's local and friendly. read more

We went to Florida for wedding and needed a quick clean up for my boys. My son asked to clean up his fade, the barber shaved his hair.. there was just no going back. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO SOMETHING.. TELL THE CUSTOMER... WORST EXPERIENCE read more

Fantastic place. Very fast and friendly service. Asked for a pretty specific stylish haircut and Charles did a great job. Definitely going back! read more

I have been coming here now for the last two years. The best hair cuts I have had in my life. All the guys and one lady are excellent. My favorite is Lefty, but that is my personal view. All are excellent. I will keep coming here......for a long time read more

This is an absolutely fantastic barber shop. I live in Boston now but am from Miami, and the best haircut I've gotten in either city comes from here. I have reasonably long hair, so it takes a really good barber to know how to cut it such that it falls well and looks good. Every single time I come here, they manage to pull that off. The service is good, the vibe is as awesome & old-school as everyone else has mentioned, top notch. I've been there before, but my experience today (Christmas Eve 2013) made me want to leave a review. I showed up at 5 PM, and as I walked towards the door three barbers were walking out. I asked them if they were closing -- they shrugged and said that they were. I looked inside and it was clear they had just finished their holiday party. Cookies were on the table, a bowl of punch was set up, and there was a cooler full of beer and soda. They were closing up, and I asked the only woman still cutting hair if she could give me one last cut before she left. She paused, thought for a second, and said she'd love to. While I'd have been ecstatic if she'd just given me the haircut after closing and sent me on my way, she was good conversation, offered me punch (and refilled my cup when it was empty!), and cut my hair like a ninja -- the way she identified the precise piece of hair that needed to be cut for it to fall right was kind of stunning. I tipped well, and it was a great experience. The punch was also pretty good. If you need a haircut in Miami, you do yourself a disservice not to get it here! read more

I've been going to Pete's Barber Shop since the 80s as a young teen. Pete's is the best barber shop in town, me and my brother always go in there and get our buzz cuts and crew cuts from Charlie and he does an outstanding clean job he always takes his times and goes over all the details and make sure everything is done perfectly right. Also instead of just shaving the back of my neck he takes an actual blade to it instead of taking the easy way out and using an electric razor. I will always go to Pete's barber shop they are the best in the business. The Larsons read more

The best shave I've ever gotten was from here. He really took his time and I would come back here every week if I could for a shave. Excellent service! read more
