I normally don't write reviews, but in this particular case, I think it merits. For many years I have been looking for a decent haircut place. I finally found it!!! It has been about 6 months that I have been coming here, and wanted to wait some time to ensure I had enough information to provide an accurate review and it was based just on first impressions. The place is impecable, while you wait, they offer you coffe, water and other refreshments. The waiting area is in perfect condition, barber chairs are comfortable, clean and they don't look like other places that they look like they are about to break and fall apart. The barber's tools are clean and sterilized to avoid passing diseases. It gives pleasure when you seat at the station while the haircut is performed to see the barber's station clean, perfect and organized. Every station has its own TV for your enjoyment while the haircut is done. The best part. The customers are always returning customer's, you see the same faces where everybody knows everybody. The barbers are extremely professional, friendly and courteous. I have the pleasure of having Rosie as my barber, and she's amazing. I can easily say she is the first haircut person that has been able to find the perfect cut for me. She will spend the necesay time to make sure the cut is perfect and to your satisfaction. Extremely detailed and picky making sure the cut ends perfectly. She goes above and beyond. She does eyebrows, neck and ears detailing if necessary. She finishes with wash. She is always suggesting ideas that may make you look better or type of cuts that will match your style and face. Congratulations to the owner for creating this place and having the vision to do something different on a poor serviced industry. Both the worst haircut and straight razor shave I've ever had in my life. The cut wasn't what I asked for. The shave, well, I still had stubble when it was done. Not just stubble, some beard hair wasn't even touched. She didn't seem to really know what she was doing and really irritated my skin because of how many times she went over the same areas. Worst part, she eventually gave up on the straight razor and used the electric clippers on my face. This is the kind of service you might expect from a discount shop, not at all what they say they are. Hope she gets more training on shaving before her next customer. read more

Primo's is great. They're a little pricey, but if you're looking for a legit 'man spa' type of barbershop that also happens to do a mean haircut and beard trim, then Primo is a great bet. They're shaving service is old-school straight-razor, hot towel and warm shaving cream. The owner seems to be serious about finding serious barbers, because I have yet to have one there that wasn't skilled -- although of course I have my favorite, Pilar. Pilar is extremely meticulous, going far above and beyond to ensure a perfectly neat grooming result. She also has a good sense of what you want, and makes intelligent decisions to achieve that result. The shop itself is clean, looks nice -- a bit of an 'cigar club' vibe. While you wait, you're offered a beverage. They also have a 'membership' that earns a bit of a discount per visit. read more

I've had $100+ haircuts and I've had $10 haircuts, but I've never had a haircut better than the haircuts I've gotten from Primo's. This place is amazing. Don't let the location (in an ordinary nondescript strip mall) fool you, this place is legit. I moved to Miami about a year ago and since then I've been to Primos at least fifteen times. I've received a haircut from almost every one of their stylists, and I have to say each cut has been amazing and well worth the measly $24 they charge. If a place like Primo's was in my old neighborhood in DC, they'd be charging at least $60 for a dude's cut. Sometimes I love being in Miami. The moment you walk in, you're greeted with a smile (and if you're a regular, with your name) and an offer for a drink of your choice. The place is classy. Even before your cut, you know you're important. That goes a long way. The two owners are each incredibly friendly and professional. They care about the business and it shows. One of them even agreed to open the store an hour early on the weekend so my friend could get a cut and beard trim on NYEve because everyone was booked that day. Where else can you find such amazing customer service in a barber shop? Like I said, I've had many cuts at Primo's and at least one from each of their stylists. None have been short of amazing. I was in town for a wedding when me and my friend (the groom) stopped in to Primo's for a last minute haircut and shave. It was across the street from the hotel where we stayed and my iPhone map app pointed to this barbershop. The website was nice so we took a risk and went and we couldn't be happier! The owner greeted us at the door, shook our hands, and offered us refreshments. We didn't have appointments so it was about a 20 minute wait but that was ok because we were taking in the atmosphere of the shop. This place was gorgeous. I've never seen a barbershop like this in this day and age. Takes you back to a time where men only got shaves from a straight edge daily. My barber Mike gave me a great haircut. All barbers there classically trained so they can wield both shears and clippers with precise detail. Each booth has a 19" LCD TV turned to ESPN for your enjoyment but each barber is friendly and would like to talk to them instead. They really go the extra mile there and although you might pay a bit more for a haircut than a regular shop it's definitely worth it. Next time I'm in town I'm stopping by . Word of advice for first timers. It's recommended you make an appointment. You might have to wait a while if you don't. read more

I just left Primos unpleasant experience. It started off great, when the hostess asked for my name and offered a beverage. She she asked me to take a seat and someone will be right up to cut my hair. While sitting down two other customers walked in and the hostess greeted them by name. She recognize them and when they went to sit down she offer them their favorite beverage with three sugars. Now this is what I call personalize service. My experience changed when I sat down with the barber. I work for luxury hotel and I know what it means to have first class service so I was very appreciative of the way the hostess perform her duties was looking forward to a great beard trim. I was very specific on how I wanted my beard trimmed. And just asked for cleanup enough to shorten my hair length by a few millimeters. He said he understood and proceeded to trim my hair with a clipper. Know having it being my first time using a clipper I assumed he knew what he was doing. All the other barbers use scissors, and that's how you know the difference between a good barber I do not so good barber. He cut it a lot shorts probably took off a centimeter or so!! Trimming your beard requires experience and my barber did not have any. I inspected my beard when I left and it seemed fine but now that I'm in my car I realize there's still a lot of odd long hairs sticking out. When he used a straight edge razor blade to clean off the excess short hair but somehow managed to cut up my skin. With 8 small nicks that are starting to turn red now. I paid $15 for the trim and a five dollar tip, that's double what I usually pay for half the service i usually get. Now I will stay all week with a scab on my neck due to someone's carelessness. The warm welcome was great but the barber definitely did not know what he was doing which is why I would rate this a one star experience. It's fantastic that you have outstanding customer service however you still need to back it up with your product Quality. I don't know about haircuts but I would not recommend anyone use their facilities to trim/shave their beard. I also forgot to mention that he forgot to line up my mustache which really upset me as well. If I wasn't far away from the place I would drive back and ask for a refund!!! read more

This is the real deal! I've been looking for a place to get a really good haircut, not a chop but a real haircut. I've found it. And that's not all..... I went ahead and opted for the shave as well. Wow, it really was fantastic. It took about as long as it took to cut my hair, and was a pleasure, from the hot towel at the beginning to the cool one at the end. This was the first time someone has shaved my face, and it really leaves your face looking and feeling great. Ramon was the barber that took care of me, although I would have no reservations about going with anyone else I saw there. I made certain that he understood exactly what I was looking for, in both the haircut and shave, and executed flawlessly. Overall this place is friendly, casual and the service is top notch. Aside from that, the conversation, with the barbers and the other patrons was fun. I am definitely looking forward to my next visit. They have 2 old ladies that are extremely rude and they don't know how to cut hair not even if their life depends on it. I told her the way I wanted my haircut, ignore me and did whatever she wanted. Service- 4.5/5, they'll talk to you and offer you a drink (no beer or alcoholic bevs unfortunately) Atmosphere- 4/5. Classic upscale barber shop, nothing to complain about. I call to the primos barbershop and I asked to the front desk for Spanish and she said that she do speak Spanish but she was telling everything in English. When I got to the place I asked for a eyebrows cut and he doesn't do that, then I asked how much is going to be and a it's $$25$$ crazy. Not one to write many review here, actually my first, but I do have to give it out to primos barbershop in South Miami. Originally heard from this spot when I visited nearby spot for lunch. Came in on a weekday and was immediately offered a refreshment and was accommodated based on my needs. From the front desk to the minute I walked out I felt like I was receiving 5 star service. As someone who has jumped from barber to barber over several years I am glad I met Frank. Frank really knows what he's doing. Very welcoming and cool guy to spend a good 30'minutes talking about all sorts of things. Great use of machine and scissor work with immense style and knowledge. He really can trim you up to whatever liking you prefer. Hands down probably the best barber in all south Miami. "Primos barbershop, you really found a great fit to your team with frank". Lastly primos barbershop has great selection of hair and shaving products and offer great recommendations based on needs and hairstyle. If you're looking for a spot to cut your hair. The one star is due to the fact that my partner has gone twice BEFORE closing time and has been told they are not taking any more clients for the day. The first time he went was at 7:45, 15 minutes before closing time.. And the second time, yesterday, he got there at 7:15, 45 minutes before closing time and again was rejected. We would understand if there was a line of people waiting to get their haircut but the place was empty and there were just two employees not doing a thing.. This was my second visit and I explicitly drove from South Gables because I had been very happy with my first haircut there. This time I was totally disappointed and will look for another place to cut my hair. After waiting for almost one solid hour and seeing how some other people were taken before me only because I was "assigned" to one of the three barbers, I finally made it to the chair. I tell the barber that I want to change my hair completely to essentially what I had for the past four years (I had changed the style the last time I was there) and that's when the trouble started. The guy said it couldn't be done, that my hair "fell naturally down", that the only way would be to keep it wet and/or blow dry it every morning... all sorts of excuses. I even showed him a picture of me with the haircut I wanted... all to no avail. It got worse when the guy said he would start cutting from one side and, if I liked the length, then proceed. I told him that, unless I trusted that he understood what I wanted, he was not going to cut at all. Finally, after waiting for one hour, I just got up and left. The owner (the bald guy with the beard) was there, witnessing the entire thing, not one move to try to either fix the situation or offer any alternative, not a word of apology. So, I'll keep looking. Before this place opened I was like a little child anxious to buy a new toy. I waited and stopped by the location to peer through the window waiting for the opening. Alas... Primos is open. The first visit I was greeted with a friendly handshake and a smile from Danny the owner. The old world decor reminded me of the places I would frequent in New York or New Jersey, all that was missing was the gruff italian accents. I stopped in after work for a straight razor hot towel shave. While I waited for my appointment I was made comfortable with a beverage and good conversation. The barber chairs were of high quality and the tiles made to look older through resurfacing, no expense was spared. The shave was fantastic, a fill 45 minute shave with the hot and cold towels, spot retouching, and even the back massage after! Where else in Miami can you get this? Rich the barber had a smooth hand and was obviously very skilled with the blade. This was one of the smoothest shaves I've had. They obviously also do haircuts there but what thrilled me is they do on foot shoe shines. I've been searching everywhere that I don't need to drop my shoes off for a shine. This place is pure class. The place just opened and the owner has big ideas that sound like a great time. Go check it out, every man needs a place he can go to get a good shave and haircut. Forget some woman salon or supercuts, go treat yourself and feel like a real man with a step back in time to a legitimate barbershop. read more
