This is about the Seattle Astrologer at SeattleAstrology.org a/k/a Steven Shroyer. I wish I could…read moregive him no stars. I wasted a HUGE amount of money (3x what other Seattle astrologers charge for a solar return reading) on this astrologer thanks in part to the rave reviews on YELP. I paid for a solar return reading for a loved one from Steven Shroyer. It was such a disappointment. First off, Steven screwed up the date for the in-person reading and ended up doing a phone call about a week later. Second, he said he was recording the session and would email the recording to my loved one for reference. He never did. And maybe that was a good thing for Steven, because he certainly wouldn't be proud to have a recording like that out in the world. Third, this was supposed to be a solar return reading. Steven defines it on his website: "A Solar Return reading is a fantastic way to familiarize yourself with the energies that you can expect to encounter during your coming year." But that is not what my loved one received, although he did ask Steven what was up this coming year, about his health in the coming year, what were the energies this coming year. Steven didn't say. My loved one gained no insights into the coming year whatsoever. Instead, Steven shared the insane ravings of a person so far down the conspiracy theory hole that either he's seriously losing it OR what he shared was really actually military secrets of the US Dept of Defense that some very stupid person who is very soon going to be in very deep trouble for sharing with such a blabbermouth (because Steven shared "military secrets" for nearly an hour) who told my loved one that aliens were crawling under the earth, erasing human memory, fiddling with human DNA, and living on the moon, which was never a moon, but always a space ship. (First Pluto, now the Moon, what does that do to a person's chart?) Another astrologer did his solar return chart after this debacle and saw none of that. Maybe she's the crazy one, only time will tell ... this could be a really weird year. Anyhow - a word to the wise: Do not lose this much money, do not get ripped off by Steven. I disputed the charge with my credit card company and lost a whole lot of money I will never see again because the fact that he spouted nonsense for nearly an hour means he "rendered the services" of an astrologer. Hey, other astrologers out there ... your reputations are going down the toilet because of people like Steven Shroyer. What happened to this guy?

I've been following Steven Shroyer for years through his Lunar Journal postings which have such…read moredepth and intuitive perspective that I couldn't wait to have a reading with him. I recently had a Complete Astrology Reading with Steven just before the full moon. The reading kicked off with a past life reading and how it tied into my current life and my natal chart. As the reading progressed I kept finding myself repeating, "yes, that resonates." Everything he touched on was truly resonating with the progression of my work and personal growth. By the time we arrived at the Cross of Dharma, I felt elated that I was truly aligned with my purpose and it brought me enthusiasm about the future. Between sharing stories, his intuitive insights and reading my chart, we spent almost 2 hours on the phone. Steven's easygoing nature made him a joy to work with. I've never had such a thorough, insightful reading. He took the time to explain points on the chart and answered all of my questions. I'll definitely be calling him each year for a Solar Return!

Will this will become LA's leading body-mind movement training hub for creatives and entrepreneurs?…read moreI don't know why you would go anywhere else. Go talk to Marco if your body is in pain or if you are working to become a more embodied artist/designer/performer/entrepreneur. He teaches individual and group sessions in Alexander Technique with a particular sensitivity towards people doing creative work. Like refining how you hold your tools over long, repetitive work sessions to prevent pain and to create a deep connection with your work. Let me explain why I am so enamored with this approach... We are all stuck with our bodies. As much as I would just like to leave my (now middle aged) body behind when it's hurt or tired - my body is always there. I have also always been attracted to training my body for performance in sports and theater. When I meditate, my body is a site of reflection. If I wasn't stuck with my body then I probably wouldn't enjoy my life as much. My good friend Marco gets bodies and all all of their painful and exuberant complexity. He has deep insight in how bodies move, how they express, how they are linked to the mind, and how they express our souls. I have known Marco for nearly a decade now and gotten to witness his journey from being a successful business guy who loved design and endurance sports into now perhaps the only person I can think of who explicitly linking the insights of Alexander Technique to the labor of the creative class. If you are unfamiliar with Alexander Technique it is just a bodywork/movement training method. It has been around forever and used often to help performers/dancers/singers/etc develop more presence. People also practice it to get rid of back pain etc. I like things like Pilates, Feldenkrais, Rolfing and yoga well enough but if I want something more than just a fitness or bodywork regime...something designed to support my creative practice and me as a creative person...then I want something like Body Economics. Marco's take on Alexander Technique is designed for creative people. He offers local sessions as his Los Angeles studio, universities, and online. I did a series of online sessions with Marco (I live in NYC) when I was having chronic back pain from working on a computer too much. He was able to provide me with feedback over live video on how I was sitting and standing that changed my understanding of my body. I was able to unwind some knots internally and breath more deeply. In the end I came away with some new tools for self-diagnosing my body when it gets out of wack and ways to put it back in alignment. Oh and Marco can speak Italian if that is useful to you. Go give your body and mind a tune up.

Leaving Marco's studio after just one session, I felt more fine-tuned. My body felt spacious and…read moreopen. And I had a greater appreciation for my human body. This process is invaluable because it can be incorporated into every single facet of life. Feeling the shift of tension releasing as Marco moved my leg, I wondered how often I allow my body to move the way it's actually designed to move! This technique has a soft and fluid sense about it. I was so impressed by the way Marco could feel what was being released in my body and gage what was happening with his hands just as I felt it. I really appreciate this return to the building blocks of how we move, learning how to use our bodies to their full potential. These are tools our culture doesn't teach us to master as we grow up, and it seems like such an obvious hole in our development. We use our bodies for everything. After one session I can see the potential, especially in my art, to bring me back into the process and the "doing" and away from the mind-chatter and tension that builds up in my body as a result. I know this tension inhibits my work and also robs me of the pleasure of the process.
