My husband realized he was getting screwed on his auto insurance so he started shopping around. I called Mercury to get him a quote and while on the phone, I figured it couldn't hurt to see if I could get a cheaper policy, too. For the same insurance I have now, the estimate was almost DOUBLE! The woman on the phone told me I better check with my original broker as she was pretty sure I only had liability insurance and that's why it was so cheap. Freaked out, I called Tony to clarify and find out exactly what my policy covered. He was so kind, straight to the point and broke it all down for me. He reassured me I had a great full-coverage policy at such a great price that it would be nearly impossible to find anywhere else (I started this policy almost 10 years ago). Due to recent wildfire activity in Southern California, the insurance landscape has changed dramatically since the last time I shopped for Insurance - it's the Wild West out there! Learning the difference between Non-admitted carriers vs admitted carriers... Difference In Conditions Policies + California Fair Plan... Premiums 3 to 4 times higher than I have ever paid before, despite never having had a claim in 26 years... I made contact with and received quotes from four different alternatives, none of which seemed like the right choice for me and my family, nor did any of the insurance professionals I spoke to impress me... Until I stumbled upon John Knowd at Thousand Oaks Insurance! John returned my phone call within just a few hours - and over the course of the next few weeks, spent a great deal of time walking me through my options, making reasonable recommendations based on his experience and my property details. I never felt like "just another number" or as if I was being oversold. I'm a retired public school teacher and I wanted to try to match the insurance I had in cA as a teacher. With his help I enrolled in a Medicare Supplemental plan with Anthem and then in a Medicare plan with a Humana prescription plan. This took into account my tiny budget and types of meds I use. I felt I had someone really experienced who accommodated my needs very thoughtfully and we got things done.
