For context, I had a pretty gnarly dental experience that kept me away for two years (for shame, I know. Don't judge me), so I had a lot of trepidation going back after so long and after such a terrible experience. From the moment I walked through the door and was greeted by the biggest, brightest smiles, I knew I was in the right place. This office exudes warmth, inclusivity, and care. I was immediately taken into the back (I pre-filled my forms, so no wait time at all), given a tour of the office, and was informed every single step of the way to help me set expectations. Not only was Dr. Santos extremely knowledgable but her and her team were also kind and informative - I knew what was going to happen, what was happening, and what next steps would be each step of the way. I've already convinced my husband to make an appointment too! I have a long journey ahead (wisdom teeth removal, braces, and cleanings) and I couldn't feel more at home with this practice. I trust them completely to take great care of me on this journey to reinvent my smile! I'd give them 100 stars if I could!

Crazy. Dr. Dezwirek and the whole team were on point. Of course, as a new patient I had to take Xrays. When Dr. Dez examined me he had already reviewed my XRays. And when Cindy cleaned my teeth I realized she too had reviewed my XRays. They were all on it. What's that saying, you never get a second chance to leave a first impression; they left a good one.

My first appointment was supposed to be for intake - Xrays, etc. - and a cleaning. They only did the Xrays and rescheduled me for the cleaning. Unprofessional start, but whatever. Then today I arrived to my 2pm appointment on time and the "cleaning" started at 2:50pm. Annoying, but it's a dental appointment. Not a huge deal. Now, onto the torture. Right off the bat Dr. Nicole Stewart-Joseph was incredibly passive aggressive, mocking me for using the napkin they put around your neck to spit out some excess mouthwash the dental assistant gives you. Then tells me alright I'm going to be cleaning your gums and it's going to hurt. Weird, but ok sure it's always a little uncomfortable. Then she proceeds to absolutely obliterate my gums with undeniably excessive force using the needle hook tool, while yelling at me to stop moving. I'm not squirmy at all with pain, but this was unbearable and I couldn't help but keep reflexively flinching - and all the while she's yelling "I warned you, I warned you!" You should know I'm a 35 year old male who's had 1-2 cleanings every year since I was a child. I know what a cleaning feels like. So at this point I'm like what is actually happening right now, and try to mumble to let her know we need to take a break. She continues without hesitation, yelling at me to stop talking, stop moving, and that it's my fault for not brushing my gums well enough. I brush my teeth *and gums* twice every single day. I've actually been told in the past I brush my gums TOO hard and had to dial it back in the past. So, my gums are more than tough enough for a regular cleaning. I know what it feels like to have a painful cleaning because you haven't brushed or flossed enough - this was absolutely not that. So 10 minutes into this "procedure" I'm now choking on my own blood and spit because she's not even suctioning anymore, just yelling at me. So I had to physically get out of the chair, remove the napkin necklace, and speedwalk out of there like I was escaping a Game of Thrones torture scene. Absolutely insane. I'm home now still shaking in disbelief this happened. There is absolutely no reason a cleaning should be THAT painful - all while a medical professional is yelling "It's your fault!" and "I warned you!". Spare yourself and find a different dentist.

I had the unfortunate pleasure of having an horrendous customer service experience with Chen &…read moreAssociates and particularly with Chennel Walters their Insurance Coordinator. I had an appointment scheduled for February 6th at 2025 at 8:20 in the morning. I woke up at 7:20am to find a text from Chen and Associates informing me that my appointment would need to be cancelled due to inclement weather causing icing. There was no serious storm just light rain in the forecast and it had been warm and mild the whole week. However, I did not think much of it and happily rescheduled for the following Monday. Unfortunately I developed an ear infection on Sunday and needed to make a urgent care visit for Monday morning. I informed Chen and Associates on Sunday at 4:00pm that I would need to cancel, significantly more notice then they gave me for my prior appointment, which they confirmed. On Thursday morning of that week I received a $50 dollar charge for a missed appointment. I was not pleased about this charge and demanded it be removed and inquired why there was no policy for a $50 credit for patients if Chen and Associates needs to cancel as that would only seem fair. They removed the charge and apologized which I would have been happy to leave it at. However Chennel Walters decided it was their mission to justify charging clients for missed appointments and not having a credit if Chen and Associates cancels. They eloquently, explained that the office had to control for "thoughtless" , they never asked me why I was canceling, cancellations from patients and that Chen and Associates would only cancel for a real reason like inclement weather which she likened to a medical emergency. She also explained that they would never try to overcharge "loyal" clients. I pointed out that the weather that day was not particularly inclement and their reason for cancelling may have also been thoughtless saying: "The inclement weather? It didn't even get below freezing temps at any point below Thursday morning and it was above freezing several hours before my appointment. In fact I'm fairly certain it was raining which Additionally it had been gorgeous all week leading up to the day. But I didn't see the need to assume the worst, I suggest the doctor do the same for people who need to "thoughtlessly" cancel appointments." Obviously left a sentence incomplete, I was at work while trying to respond to Chennel Walters lovely correspondence and made a mistake. However, I think anyone reading this could see that I was pointing out that the weather conditions made improbable justifying a cancellation on their end unlikely. Chennel snarkily informed me she couldn't respond to my statement because it was incomplete before then responding to the statement she said she couldn't respond to by saying that I didn't know the weather where all their staff lived. It was above freezing through the entire state on February 6th and had been in the high to mid 40s the entire week leading up to the appointment. Needless to say I will no longer be a patient at Chen and Associates despite being a "loyal" patient prior. I would highly recommend they use this as a learning moment for Chennel and reconsider if they are the kind of person who should be interacting with clients.

I immediately called my regular dentist of over 45 years. Unfortunately for me he is in a new practice and they don't take our insurance. He did see me however & I paid cash so I knew what I needed done to fix the tooth. I came home and started calling the dentist he recommended to confirm they accept my insurance. None did. I finally found White marsh dental & Dr. Kelmenson. I arrived at the office early to fill out any additional paperwork and was promptly greeted & checked in. I quickly went back to get X-rays done and then into a chair. The dentist reviewed the X-rays and said it could be fixed with a new filling but it will likely need a root canal since it is broke just at the gum line. I explained to Dr Kelmenson I don't do well with needles especially coming towards my face/mouth. He said I could get nitrous oxide to help relax me. I just had to pay out of pocket for the nitrous. Ok, I was fine with that. He put the mask on me and take a few deep breath's and he was able to get the novocaine injection done and move right into fixing my tooth. He explained everything he was doing and respected me being a medical professional so he could explain things in medical terms and I understand. Excellent bedside manner. I am definitely going back for my 6 month cleaning and as tough as it is to find a good dentist.... I have found 2 Dr Kelmenson here and my previous dentist. Overall I would recommend this practice4/5 I'm only taking a star off because it's hard to get an appointment. I am used to having a few Saturday hours but this office doesn't.

Later that evening when I got home it was then I noticed my teeth had been chipped and she didn't fill the gap completely. She told me to come back I so she could "fix" it. She tried to say that my teeth that were chipped were the filling, but it was my tooth. She sloppily filled the gap. It was thick and looked cakey and also didn't match my teeth color exactly. Not even two weeks later, I was brushing and water flossing my teeth it came right out. Terrible careless work. I would never recommend this dentist. She does not do good quality work. Was looking for a dentist close by I guess this is not the place!! I can't believe the second time she filled my tooth it didn't last longer than two weeks.

After resolving the issue, I was shocked when the dental associate told me I was now 15 minutes behind--despite the fact that I was sitting there the entire time handling the insurance request they asked me to address. To make matters worse, they refused to see me and told me I had to reschedule. How is that fair when the delay was caused by their own request? My time was completely wasted, and the lack of consideration for patients is unacceptable. If punctuality is so important, perhaps they should consider being more efficient in handling their own administrative processes.
