Well, if I know everything, why do I need a doctor? If I have medical questions, isn't he the one I should ask? He made me think that I should not question things. His attitude made me very sick. I don't think this is the right attitude a practitioner should have. After each appointment, I always felt quite bad, stupid about myself and angry. Secondly, my family friend is a MD as well in Ontario. One time I showed him the prescription Dr. Lai prescribed. The family friend check up my body, see my prescription history (Shopper Drug Mart has detailed prescription history) and questioned why Dr. Lai often prescribed me such strong medication. Also, Dr. Lai likes to use newly-developed drug. I don't think there is anything wrong to try it, but he used too often on me and I am still young!! Just to let you readers know that the lighter drug prescirbed by another doctor now works fine for me. It's better to play safe, don't you think? Well yes Dr. Lai is quick and knowledgeable. This is what a MD should be. I just wish Dr. Lai luck. I am no longer his patient. Though I need to wait long for appointments at my current MD's, I feel a lot better and definitely feel safer. Dr. Lai, if you are reading this, please be considerate. You have the power, but use it wisely.

It's as frustrating as an app that hides their cancelation button. I understand the approach for a normal for profit business but not for a clinic. we moved to a normal clinic where you can email them directly and /or call if you have questions; basic interaction is all we wanted. Hopefully Magenta can change their approach; it's not the pandemic anymore

Dr. Lai is a great listener and writes down everything mentioned during your talks. He gives off a no judgement face & attitude and makes you feel more comfortable while you mention any issues you may have. He's young so he's more in tune with modern day thinking. He's quick and isn't ashamed of searching up information on his computer in front of you and search together on the topic discussed. It shows that he's not a know-it-all and that doctors aren't encyclopedias. I really like how he talks and makes sure that if we have any problems with his actions or words to let him know so he can grow and work on himself to be the best doctor for his clients. His clinic offers a lot of other help: chiropractor, foot clinic, physiotherapy, dietitian & nutrition counselling, weight loss help, psychotherapy, behaviour analyst etc. They speak: English, French, Cantonese, Mandarin & Korean (depending on the person). He works very long hours and he will even come in before dawn on most Saturday to accommodate patients who could not get an appointment to see him during the week. It's a very busy office and the phone lines are often busy. During lunch, 12-1 PM the phone lines are not picked. This is an inconvenience to people trying to book an appointment during their lunch time. Perhaps front office staff could have different lunch schedules in order to have someone answer the phone from 12-1 PM. I did not think this minor inconvenience warranted a lower rating. The office is closed on Friday. I am very satisfied and fortunate to have Dr. Richard Kalnins as my family doctor.

He frequently checks in to see your progress, outside of your appointment time. He is very reachable by email, and quick to respond too! I defiantly feel like he really wants to try and make everything better, even referring me to a specialist when something in my bloodwork came up that was concerning. He seemed more concerned about my wellbeing (due to the bloodwork) than the specialist--which really shows the difference between doctors. As for my dermatology concerns, he seemed very knowledgeable and explained any reasons behind it. He prescribed me some medication to help with the issue, and explained every other option available as well. He laid out any side effects and a timeline for me to start noticing a difference. I would definitely recommend coming to Dr. Michael Davis to help with your dermatology concerns! The only downside is the receptionist at the dermatology clinic he works at--probably some of the rudest receptionists in existence. It really doesn't matter what you ask them, they'll give you incredible attitude. I heard them talking to people on the phone and also other patients who came in to book follow up appointments and they were rude to all of them from the very beginning. I highly doubt EVERY client who calls is so troublesome that you need to slam the phone down every time. When I had first called the clinic to check when my first appointment was, the receptionist sounded absolutely exasperated when she gave me the information, and only the bare minimum. Please don't judge the doctors who work at this clinic based on the receptionist's attitude. The doctors are very good at what they do!
