My experience with Mirabella, Kincaid, Frederick & Mirabella and specifically with Joshua Bedwell,…read moreone of their partners, with my divorce and child My custody proceeding was horrendous. Mr. Bedwell is a $475 per-hour incompetent intermediary who demonstrates no sense of urgency and offers little-to-no thought leadership, advocacy or problem-solving ability. Outlined below are my specific criticisms of Mr. Bedwell. Mr. Bedwell initially assigned a junior associate, Brad Erdman, to my case who was completely incompetent and an extremely ineffective communicator, resulting in wasted time and fees. Ultimately, I had to insist that Mr. Erdman be removed from my case. Mr. Bedwell did not understand the process and protocols for filing a petition for parenting time when an order of protection was in place. Ultimately, he needed to consult my criminal attorney to determine the path forward. As a divorce attorney, he should have known the process & protocols and suggested that I immediately pursue a petition rather than simply requesting parenting time from my ex-wife through her attorney, which was not likely to result in any action or progress. His lack of understanding and proactive, critical thinking resulted in months of wasted time and delays in me seeing my children. Mr. Bedwell completely mishandled the guardian et litem and reunification process with my children. He did not perform due diligence or challenge the reunification therapist who was assigned to my case. The reunification therapist had very limited availability, was not located anywhere near my or my ex-wife's residence, and generally has a reputation of being difficult to work with, including not following court orders, which is exactly what happened. A mid-August court order specified that the intake meetings for me, my ex-wife and my children were to be scheduled with the reunification therapist within 7 days of the order. It took me 5 weeks to see the reunification therapist for my intake meeting at which time I found out that my children's intake meetings had not even been scheduled. Mr. Bedwell did not appropriately advocate for me when this delay occurred. He refused to insist, or even ask, that the reunification therapist accommodate an earlier date to see my children for their intake meetings given that her office clearly did not follow the court order. I also asked Mr. Bedwell whether we should seek to have a new reunification therapist assigned and received no response. When I consulted other attorneys outside his practice, they unanimously suggested immediately filing a petition for a reunification therapist and indicated that they would have never agreed to the reunification therapist that was assigned. Mr. Bedwell's incompetency and lack of advocacy resulted in months of delays in my seeing my children, not to mention wasted fees that I paid his firm, the guardian et litem and the reunification therapist. Mr. Bedwell lacked any financial acumen. His initial interim financial support proposal to my wife was completely nonsensical and substantially higher than the amount ultimately agreed upon after my review and revisions. An attorney's role, especially one at Mr. Bedwell's hourly rate, is to be a thought leader and problem solver. He was neither. On more than one occasion, he simply passed along information without providing any insight or recommendation on how to proceed to further my interests. I ended up doing nearly all of the critical and strategic thinking in my case.

A call from this attorney has reminded me that I never reviewed Phil Nathe…read more See, I'd left him a message just before the weekend asking if he could refer to me to an attorney specializing in a certain area. He called me first thing this Monday morning. He himself. Not his office staff. He called. There it is. Personal, efficient and on it! We've used him twice, much to my surprise. I mean...he's a CRIMINAL attorney. What nice, suburban family has need of a criminal attorney?? Um...well we did. Twice. And maybe you will too. And if you don't, you'll know someone who does because we've passed his name on several times since. On one occasion someone was on the side of the truth, justice and the American way. ...but it was a thorny issue that could have gone badly. Mr. Nathe saw us through and with complete success. On another occasion, someone was guilty as sin. (btw...in case you're in the market for one, the Ford Flex can travel comfortably at speeds exceeding 120 mph. Phil's number is right there above ^^) He was able to see us through that as well with as much success as anyone could hope for though the Criminal Child certainly didn't deserve it. His fee was affordably brutal for a working teen. Mr. Nathe walked us through numerous court dates, negotiated the fine, and managed to retain the C.C.'s license. ...not that she needed it anymore. You can read her review of the Pace Bus System... Generally... It's a scary thing when you need to hire a defense. How do you know an attorney REALLY knows what he/she's doing?? We're talking about a fair bit of money you're going to have to spend and your freedom may very much be on the line. We all read the news and are disgusted by the unfair treatment the "Haves" and the "Have-nots" can at times receive from our justice system, right? Funny how that righteous disgust changes when the Law has us in its clutches. Suddenly we're all, "Oh please, please, PLEAAASSSE let me have an attorney who has experience and can work the system and who knows people and who has relationships he can draw on!!" Phil Nathe is your man. You will leave his office confident that you're in the best hands possible. He's very clear about the skills he brings to the table, the process and his goals. Whether you're wrongfully accused or guilty as all get-out he will handle your case respectfully, professionally and as efficiently as possible.

I was promise the world but was always at a loss when all I tried to do was get my rights as a father. After 4 years of fighting with different lawyers and thousands of dollars later Scott was able to make things happen for me fairly and honestly in quick time. Along with family cases he as helped me with he has help my younger sister with a automotive accident and also help other members of my family . He's has a great team from traffic to family this office has your best interest in mind and unlike my other experiences they are fighters and don't get pushed around they fight with you and are aggressive and for that they will forever have my business since my little girl is my entire world! Thanks for all you do Scott and Laura !

My experience with this firm during my divorce case was unacceptable…read more I received inconsistent guidance that contributed to an outcome I believe could have been avoided with competent representation. Communication was poor; important matters went unaddressed for extended periods, and action occurred only after my own repeated follow up, and ChatGPT researched recommendations. Despite being told we would contest an issue in court, I was ultimately directed to sign documents during mediation without meaningful preparation or explanation. I did not feel adequately advised or represented in that process; I felt alone throughout the whole process. The office's lack of organization further complicated matters, including a poorly handled property retrieval that became unnecessarily difficult. Overall, the level of service fell well below expectations. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this firm and suggest others evaluate their options carefully before retaining counsel. "Worst Lawyer in Kane County?" I have no idea. But, I would ABSOLUTELY not recommend. At all.
