Our dogs needed their nails trimmed badly. My husband and I have attempted to do them ourselves but we are wimpy about it. Our appointment was 2pm for their nail trim. We got there just before 2 and we were out of there before 2:20pm . And they were done so well!! Morgan was so kind and gentle with our dogs and did a fabulous job. One of our dogs had pretty long nails and it had been worrying us a while. I cant tell you just the relief to get them done and to know that they are super reasonably priced! After trying another dog grooming company twice we brought our 8 month old Miniature Schnauzer puppy, Ms Vangie to Petco. She looked absolutely adorable when we picked her up. Rhianna is a great groomer and had nice compliments for Ms Vangie during her visit. Puppies are sometimes scared of water, clippers and blow dryers however, Ms V done really well for her age. It's a bit pricey but then again what isn't during the post pandemic. I gave 4 stars only for the $. Maybe a free "something/discount" after so many visits would be great for members??? read more

The Yucca Valley Petco has a customer service problem. I stopped at the store today to see if they had any decent Koi in stock. Last time I checked they had poor choices and dead fish were floating in the tank. I went there today to see if they had any new Koi and, much to my delight, they did! I carefully identified a Koi I that I thought would be a good mix for my 5k gallon Koi pond. The only employee I could see anywhere was the busy cashier. I walked all over the store to find an employee to get the fish from the tank, after about 10 minutes an employee showed up. After she bagged up my purchase, I went to the register to check out. The cashier walked away from the register to take care of some business leaving me standing there with a bagged fish. After standing and waiting for some time with no cashier and no other staff around, I walked out of the store, leaving the koi on the unmanned counter. read more

This is a review for Pam the wonder groomer at Petco. This woman is extremely skilled at grooming and also has the best temperament. My blind dog warmed up to her immediately. She does exactly what you ask her to do and will give you some advice, should you need it on the best way to groom your pup. She is patient, helpful and very kind. I wish this woman would open her own salon. She's THAT good and i think her skills are overlooked at a place like Petco where the groomers are not only sparse but overworked. Before you complain about Petco, try Pam even if you have to wait a couple weeks for her. She's worth it and makes the place look stellar. read more

I have mixed feelings about this Petco. They were terrific during Covid. That may be the only nice thing I have to say about Covid! Last week's experience with Jenni was a nightmare. Jenni has almost zero managerial skills and zero customer service skills. Repeating the same useless information over in a grade school singsong voice is no way to deal with customers. "Have a nice day!" "Have a good one!" Worse when it is insincere....and it was. I had a small issue that could have easily been resolved. Jenni chose not to deal with it or me. If this particular store wants the details, please ask. In the past, we came here a lot and spent quite a bit of happy time and money. Jenni was rigid, unhelpful, and not nice about anything. I do not need unnecessary unpleasantness, especially when shopping for pets is supposed to be fun. Walmart is literally 45 seconds away and they carry everything we need. DO NOT HAVE YOUR DOG GROOMED. I have had my dog bathed and cleaned at this placed 3 times. Every time I get a different price quoted for the same package. It has been acceptable but over priced until the last visit. I got there early and watch them manhandle my baby (who only weighs 55 pounds). They did nothing to calm him down and only made him more scared. Then I watched as the groomer turned her back to my pet, and he stepped off the table and quite frankly, almost hung himself. I was visiting from San Diego when my dog split a nail off the quick while we were hiking in Joshua Tree. Janis, one of the Petco employees, was BEYOND helpful! She came out to my car, helped cauterize the wound, sent me home with some cauterizing powder, told me which wrap to buy & gave me detailed instructions/demonstrations on how to take care of my dog over the next couple days. I absolutely LOVE the trainer here, Jamie. She is so knowledgeable was great with our little puppy Archer. We did her Puppy 2, 6 week long, training and our puppy learned so much. He still has some homework to do, but we will definitely be coming back for the adult class once he hits his year mark. I signed my puppy Arya up for Puppy 1 training with Jamie a few weeks ago. She does so well with Arya and you can tell Arya really likes Jamie too. All of the staff there are friendly and helpful it's really nice to see the great customer service there. I took Arya for the Vetco clinic for their May clinic and I wasn't impressed with the initial vet tech. He was pushing product, basically said my dog had no shots (which she's had 2 sets prior) and said Arya was only 40lbs. In fact I weighed her just a few days before and she was 46lbs, that's a lot for a puppy. But the Vet and her tech were VERY nice and VERY sweet with Arya. I really enjoy this Petco and will continue to bring Arya for here for toys and treats! read more

This is a revised review. I initially rated this store at 3 stars because I didn't care for the Vetco service that comes in there to give shots and do microchips. I stand by the low rating for that service. It's chaotic. They throw up a metal table in the middle of an aisle and work out of rubber tubs of supplies. There's a long line of dogs waiting to be treated. Some of them are big and very active. You have to try to hold your dog while filling out papers. The prices were no cheaper than going to a regular vet where the atmosphere is a lot better. I'm upgrading my review from 3 stars to 5 stars. The store is improving. The grooming section had a high turnover but the past few times I've been there I've had the same groomer and she's really good. I go in for nail clipping only and I'm always a walk in. In the past they were harried and seemed overworked. They would make me hold my dog during the clipping and she would squirm like crazy. The past two times I've gone in the groomer was super calm and efficient. She took my little dog into the grooming table and clipped her nails there. My dog didn't seem bothered at all. She actually recognized me and said my dog's name even though I had no appointment and she must see dozens of clients every day. That's really great customer service! I've also had the same young guy at the checkout lately and he's really nice and efficient. For awhile the aisles always seemed to have boxes piled up in them but lately the store has been clean and well stocked. They have good sales and occasionally send out coupons so I always stock up on dog food during those times. employees in grooming are terrible. I've had my grooming appointment for 3 weeks, I have a small terrier mix. I get a call 20 hours before my appointment saying that I can't come and I need to reschedule. I tried calling time and time again trying to get ahold of someone and I never received a call back. When I called the day of my appointment, exactly 2 hours before I went to customer service instead of grooming. The lady at customer service who's name was Katie was very rude. She would get loud and cut me off when speaking on the phone. Finally, I received a call back and without even asking they pushed my appointment to the next day, I had other medical appointments. Took one of my 2 year old miniature schnauzers in to get groomed and I am more than pleased with their service! I normally take them to a rather "posh" salon over an hour away but wanted to try something closer to home. Janis was my groomer today and I will definitely bring my other schnauzer into her! Not only did my pup come back to me with a great haircut and smelling nice and clean but he also came back in a good mood (he often comes home grouchy after his other grooming sessions). I'm definitely upset. I came in to spend under 20 on a harness for my cat. They had so many to choose from I asked for help the guy brought me to one and it said 14 and some change on the shelf. I paid for it went home didn't think much of it looked at my bank statement and I got charged $27. I didn't notice right away when I was in the store I wouldn't have purchased it. This item shouldn't be more than $20 and I feel I got ripped off. It says on the pack but it was 24.99 But I didn't realize until I got home that they charge me almost $30 for a cat harness. Ridiculous I don't think I ever want to go in to Petco again. read more

Very poor customer service at this location was waiting for half an hour or maybe even longer to purchase fishes. Girl at the register apologizes and says will be right with you. Another gentleman on the floor my husband asks is there any assistance we can get he says we will be right with you. We patiently wait. While waiting people would walk through the door and those two employees greeted them entering and said welcome and asked for assistance and right away they tended to them. What in the world?! We are both standing there and waiting and they tend to the people walking in first. We are paying customers as well and for them to assist them first was like we didn't exist. By this time my husband gets upset and asks the girl at the register can I speak with your manager, she tells us there is no manager and there's only two of us here. My husband and I are not complainers and were patiently waiting but to be completely ignored is totally unsatisfactory. I have never had a good experience with any Petco location, but this one is the worst! I tried to give them a chance on their grand opening day, but they failed to change my opinion of Petco. There were five people in line at the register, and only one cashier. This is unacceptable. I returned a couple weeks ago to purchase dry dog food for my new puppy (I normally buy this online). Prior to driving to the store, I signed up for a PALS card online. When I purchased my dog food, I asked the cashier to apply my PALS discount. He put my phone number into the computer, and told me that I could not receive the discount. I asked for the discount anyway, and he refused, telling me that I would have to fill out a new PALS application first. Petco again lost another customer. I shop many pet stores, both in person and online. I believe that Petco has a systemic problem with customer service. The only reason that their stores would have a systemic problem with customer service, is because they have bad management. I will never again do business with Petco! read more

I brought my dog in April to get groomed i was told he wouldn't stay still so they couldn't do a good job, he came back in june and did much better, I was told by Janis to keep bringing him in so he could get used to it... I made an appointment for August and got canceled! I rescheduled just to get canceled AGAIN! They gave me a 3rd appointment for today and we showed up at 9am just to get told my dog was being referred out because he was aggressive??!!! They didn't even check him in or attempted to groom him! One of my stepcats used to get his hair and toes did at the Petco in Palm Desert, so when we moved up to Yucca Valley I took him to this Petco and they did a wonderful job! Pam is so good with Whitey Ford (Our oldest cat, he's 14). Sometimes at the other Petco Mr. Ford would come home just traumatized and hiss at everyone for the rest of the day. No so at this Petco! He just laid there (lay there?) and let Pam do whatever she needed to. When I got him home, he was still relaxed and not mad at me at all! LOL! I like Pam so much that Condoleezza Rice (my 12 year old Rottie/Shepard mix) is going there today to get her toes did. Prob going to have to give Pam a big tip when she's done.
