Had a pleasant experience at my local petco compared to petsmart, let me just start off by saying, Desire was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable and passionate about the animals, and even gave a treat to my lily. She helped me get signed up for the rewards program and helped me find everything I was looking for. When I brought my Maltese/Pomeranian to this Petco, I was helped within a few moments wait. I ended up getting a young lady with purple and green hair. She was extremely sweet and kind to both my dog and myself. When I went to pick my dog up, the young lady explained how much she loved my dog and how good my dog was for her. Her hair cut was perfection, my dog smelled wonderful, and the young lady did everything I asked to the T. My Favorite Part about this young lady is that I told her my dog is very old and to be very patient and gentle with her. It's quite clear the young lady did exactly that. I am beyond pleased with this experience. I'm sorry I can't remember the young lady's name but she does have green and purple hair. read more

I'll always be a fan of ANY pet store that does not sell dogs or cats but offers local adoption agencies space in-store to adopt out homeless ones. Beyond that this store is clean, bright and well organized. They seem to have a somewhat limited selection but they do have some items you won't find anywhere else. It is neat that they sell both fresh AND saltwater fish. I'm not a fan of the fact that you have to carry a little card to get savings on certain items. That's a hassle; it would just be nice to offer that price to everyone. The day I visited the store looked understaffed. I stood at an empty register for a while before someone showed up to help me check out. Still, you can bring your leash dog into the store- that's always a plus. read more

I recently brought my dog Bolt here to be groomed. I must say I was very satisfied with his visit. The first thing I like is they don't have you drop your dog off and keep them there all day. They call you to bring them in at their time, and are done within not even 2 hours. And Bolt appreciates that. Also I'm very particular in not cutting more than what's needed for Bolt. They spent plenty of time confirming what I wanted. And with a Pomeranian I truly appreciate that extra level of effort. I got the furminator treatment for him. And it truly does make a difference. They did a great job with the ferminator, some places do not fully deliver the extra you pay for this. Pet I did for sure! read more

My husband and I foster dogs from kill shelters that are on the urgent list and try to find them a forever home. We went into PetCo, port richey wanting to hang a flyer for our current foster Banzai and the manager turned us away. She said "We are not a meeting area to get your dog adopted." First off we were not making it a meeting area, we do home checks, we just wanted to get his picture out there. Next you have dogs there all the time your a pet store. I was so shocked by the way the manager acted she didn't want to help at all. She said PetCo doesn't want to be reasonable... reasonable for what, helping a dog find a furever home. I sometimes come to this store for toy or supplies for my 2 large dogs. On Sunday 8/19/19 my husband and i stopped in Petco to find some treats and toys for our 2 dogs, while there we saw some awesome Halloween Costumes and since the dogs are large we needed XXL costumes which they had for $30 ish each.. we also picked up a few treats which were new to us veggie stick/sausage sticks which were marked $3.29ea. at the counter i gave my card for petco and also state that i would like to see each item ring up so i can make sure prices were right, the veggie sticks came up 5.49ea. My husband showed the young man where they were ,but he said he needed manager to correct price. the manager {Brian] was called and we surely upset him at his break cause he was not happy, I explained where we got stick,he stated thats not where they belong and that's NOT the price,so he cant change that. Oh my. Then i showed him my coupon on my phone, which hesitated he has no way of using . OH my. they had already rang up all my stuff and it was bagged and in my cart, money {$162.00}CASH in hand to pay. I asked again about sticks pricing and he stated NO. coupon,,,NO.., and then he said I 'm not going to take your bullying me into giving you those prices. WOW and stated he is not going to let me purchase anything and he was throwing me out. i asked again i am not being allowed to purchase my items.? He stated no and get out. I asked for his name and corporate phone number.. many people behind me. wow. we left.and will not every return there. this is not the first time their employees were grouchy. WE LEFT AS HE YELLED.BULLY, go somewhere else.I yelled back but not worth it.. Never to return. I did call corp and got a email today. did answer. I own a business too and my employees should never acts like that to a customer. Believe me the customer is not always right, but that was crazy over 1.50 for each stick. and why not able to use coupon? My two Teddy Bears love to swim. Because of that and being overdue for grooming they were a mess. Summer is a kind and friendly person that made me feel comfortable right away.
