She remains available for all kinds of questions ( we picked up our bernedoodle 5 days ago) Our family member needed a service dog. Tanya didn't have any available in 2 upcoming litters but after talking about our needs said she could look at a puppy she knew from another breeder. She checked the dog out and said he had a good personality for us. Our deposit on that dog meant she'd start to train and if we decided he wasn't the right match we could switch the deposit to a puppy from a future litter This meant the timeline to get a trained service dog was much faster and we liked the flexibility about matching personalities. We were able to meet the dog and Tanya at her home in between basic and advanced training. We also saw two litters of puppies at that time. Her set up is ideal and her devotion supreme. We knew this was a good choice. During training she sent frequent photo and video updates of the dog. At 10 months we picked up our trained dog. He does so well with public spaces, walking, and sit. He needs new potty training as he transitioned from farm life to an apartment but it is going well. He adapted to the classroom easily-- can sit for hours si long as he is near his human There is another reviewer who complained that their bernedoodle is anxious and scared. Maybe that person doesn't know the breed? When we read about the breed online it clearly says that they can be "skittish" around strangers and will need lots of socialization with various types of people to help their confidence. Tanya explained our bernedoodle would be nervous about some new things and needs the owner to show patience and calm that a situation is ok. They look to the owner for assurance and not the other way around. This is not a brave or bold dog. He is like a live stuffed animal: wants hugs, petting, close proximity to owner. So as an ESA ( though ours is more than this) he's perfect. As he gets used to rooms and situations he is confident when with owner. If it's a new person or room, he is nervous. That's ok for our needs. If you need a bolder personality then talk to Tanya and others about fit Tanya sent our pup with a blanket to ease his transition and some of his favorite toys. He never looks at human food or expects something from the table. She trains her dogs with healthy food and the occasional Starbucks pup cup or a scrambled egg. We love our bernedoodle and are so grateful for Tanya's love, guidance and care for both puppy and owner. We feel lucky to have found Sandpoint doodles!!!

Staff were completely in over their heads, were unable to manage a peaceful transition and were grossly incompetent. After a 45+ minute long appointment, multiple rounds of sedation (for our sweet dog who was already in process of a natural transition when they arrived, they didn't even bother to check her vitals upon arrival) and attempting to inject two different rounds of euthanasia medicine unsuccessfully in 3 different limbs and ended up injecting her in her kidney (we think), I do not know that our dog did not suffer. Our entire experience before, during and after the appointment was unprofessional and the communication was and continues to be terrible. And to the person at the clinic who told me on the phone to "park next to the dumpster" when I went to pick up our dog yesterday to take her to the crematorium in Spokane myself: wow, that level of compassion was unbelievable to top off an already horrific experience. We will never set foot in that business again. Update Sept 3, 2025: multiple staff at VCA North Idaho Animal Hospital have called me and we have had honest conversations around our experience. My family is grateful to the clinic for the follow up. Our experience start to finish was a domino effect of problems, miscommunications and inability to manage the situation that led to the 1 star review. The clinic staff seem sincere making some changes as a result of our feedback, however we will choose to go with a different provider in the future.

My dog, Koa, was boarded at this facility on two occasions: July 3-5 and July 10-14. I cannot determine during which stay he became ill. When I picked him up on July 14, he was noticeably lethargic and not acting like himself. Later that evening, his condition declined rapidly. He became disoriented, was unable to stand to go outside, and his temperature measured 106°F. He was rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic and admitted immediately. Over the next several days, Koa's condition was described as critical. His white blood cell count was dangerously low, he continued to spike high fevers despite continuous fluids and cooling measures, and he required round-the-clock hospitalization. Multiple veterinary teams repeatedly prepared me for the possibility that he might not survive. I was told more than once that his prognosis was very guarded and that we needed to be prepared for the worst. He underwent extensive diagnostic testing, including imaging and a bone marrow biopsy, and ultimately required transfer to Washington State University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital for ICU-level and internal medicine care. He remained hospitalized for nearly a week. The drive to WSU was approximately an hour and a half each way, and I traveled whenever possible just to see him during limited visiting hours, not knowing if each visit might be my last. Despite exhaustive testing, no definitive source of illness was identified. Koa ultimately survived due to aggressive medical intervention, including prolonged steroid therapy and the advanced care provided by the critical care and internal medicine teams at Washington State University. His total medical expenses exceeded $12,000. The owner of the boarding facility was contacted on the morning of July 15 by my boyfriend to inform her of the situation and to ask whether any other dogs had been ill during that timeframe, as this information could have assisted with veterinary diagnostics. Although I am the legal owner of the dog and the individual listed on all veterinary and boarding paperwork, the facility owner never contacted me directly by phone or email. I would have expected direct communication with the registered owner during a medical emergency of this severity. To this day, she has never reached out to me personally. Koa survived, but his recovery was long and difficult. He required months of steroid therapy with significant side effects, including excessive thirst, increased urination, and loss of bladder control--none of which he had experienced previously. Initial attempts to taper him off steroids resulted in serious complications requiring further medical intervention. He ultimately required additional long-term medication and ongoing veterinary monitoring. The emotional distress of nearly losing a family member after trusting a facility to care for him is something I would not wish on anyone. Beyond the medical crisis itself, the lack of direct communication with me as the registered owner was particularly difficult. I am not making claims of legal fault or causation. I am sharing my experience. Pets are family, and facilities entrusted with their care carry a significant responsibility. I strongly encourage anyone considering boarding here to ask detailed questions about illness monitoring, emergency response procedures, and communication expectations. I sincerely hope others take the time to think carefully before entrusting their animals to this boarding facility.
